Norm wants to know… is this how you dressage?

Took a lesson with Brad Cutshall… I am 3 months postpartum and just started riding again… my steed is a 5 coming 6 year old OTTB who is typically WONDERFUL to ride, but he doesn’t love an audience, so, when there is one, he gives them a good show!
We had some nice moments too. (Video in
Comments) I love this horse and look forward to continued progression and partnership

How Rex feels about Tuesday Morning!

Theo is getting soo big! I sticked him for pure entertainment and he is 12.2 at the shoulder and 13h at the butt, tomorrow he will be 5 months old!
He is doing great and adjusting to big kid life without his sister Cici, we miss her but Rex is a good pal.

Haven’t posted much lately, but Theo has had lots of firsts this past month.
-He got his feet done (was a perfect gentleman might I add)
-His first set of shots (didn’t even flinch)
- spent time in the arena with other working horses (was very interested lol)
By weeks end we will start round pen training, I will try to get some videos posted!

After a weeks of meet and greet, we started turning Theo out with his big brother Norm. Theo was pretty nervous about my big guy at first, but over the last several days we have increased their time together and they are doing great!
(don’t tell my husband) 😆

One of Cici’s brothers came over yesterday to ride, and we decided to give them an introduction before she comes home! We started by introducing them through the fence, Cici was more concerned that Theo wasn’t around though 😜 Summit was excited to meet her at first but was very sweet with her and calmed down after about 15 minutes. We stayed with them the whole time to make sure everybody was being nice, and summit is a very laid back horse who gets along with EVERYBODY.

Have I mentioned how cute Cici is getting lately?! 😍 this little lady is a heart stealer for sure!!

Hey guys! Just wanted to do an update post about Cici, we had some questions on the last post about why they are going to be separated so we wanted to shed some light!

Most of the time when you adopt a foal from you are required to adopt two so they have a friend to stay with until they are big/mature enough to be weaned and go out with an older horse.

It is very very common for adopters to have one foal to keep, and then rehome the other once they are big enough.

In our case, Theo was adopted by Sarah, and Cici was adopted by Laura. The intent was always for them to be together in these first few months and then Cici will go home to .

Foals can be weaned between 4-6 months of age.

But don’t worry, this is all very normal, and they will still get to see each other for play dates!

Worked on trailer loading with the babies today! Cici goes home at the beginning of next month so we wanted to get some practice in before moving day. Both of the babies were so amazing with loading, which is great because the last time they were in the trailer it was not easy to get them loaded or unloaded. All of the practice leading has really helped them! That shot is also a really good example of how big Theo is compared to Cici!

My Boys!!! 🥰Been slowing introducing Theo to Norm and I am very happy with the progress!

About the Farm

Dobbin is an equestrian facility like no other, where riders can enjoy their horses in a luxurious laid back environment that offers the freedom to practice disciplines of your choice. There are 30+ acres of trails and bridle paths, a 120' x 220' outdoor arena and an 80' x 180' indoor arena, both with excellent footing. Boarders enjoy beautiful grooming stalls, an insulated barn, and an indoor/outdoor wash stalls; horses are rotated in 8 grass pastures, a fly misting system in stalls and box fans on their stalls in the warm summer months. Horses are fed grain twice a day and hay three servings (4-6 flakes) per day and noon hay in the winter months. Much of the hay is grown on Dobbin property. Stalls are cleaned daily and horses enjoy 8 hours of turnout (weather dependent). 17 stalls are available at Dobbin for boarding; 10 of which are available at this time.(02/2020) The indoor/outdoor arena is available for rent for clinics. Non-boarding riders are invited to trailer-in their horse for a schooling session or clinics. Qualified trainers are also welcome at Dobbin to provide weekly lessons for the boarders or host clinics on the weekends. There will be many exciting changes happen at Dobbin Farm, come check us out!
