We planned ahead. Before the summer heat kicked in. We bred many of our satin does. The offspring are now either "in line" for fall breeding 'cause their size and temperaments are fantastic or they are possibly going to freezer camp. We actually bought a new freezer in preparation.
Before they go to FC, we thought we'd offer some to new homesteads who may be interested in expanding their rabbitry or who want to get started.
These are purebred satins or NZ x satins. Our lines originally came from Texas, Tennessee and Indiana - so lots of variety in the gene pool. We show our satins, our first herd buck is ARBA registered. We have good stock.
We are in North Lake County. Give us a PM if you want more information about the breed.
Pictured in the video are some young rabbits out to get exercise on this cool morning. They live a good life!
This has been cross posted.
The little black kit had the hiccups. It was very funny! As I was trying to capture the hiccups, Demi decided I should give her more oats.
My dear Stella knew I was giving oat treats to the nursing does. She politely asked me to give her some, too. She will always be one of my favorites! The chicks you hear in the background are hanging out in the rabbitry until they are a little bigger.
Like Romeo and Juliet they come from opposing "families". (Breeds) Safe to say, they like companionship #Hollandlop #satinrabbit #bunnylove.
Demi is getting ready for her first litter. Pulling fur!
Yay! This is Rosie's daughter. She is expecting her first litter in a few days. She "told me"this morning that it was time to build a nest. She sampled the nesting box hay! Lol!
Yes, this is a satin SHOW rabbit! In the late afternoon sun. Who cares if he gets sunbleached! He's going to spend March-July making more nice satins. We will make his days as natural as possible with sand to dig in and fresh breezes to enjoy. Look at that sheen!
Whitney's babies getting some play time on this rainy day.
I just finished giving hay to all the rabbits and the horse. Jordan and I had a few minutes to hang out. He went over my barn jacket like a bloodhound, sniffing all the scents from the day's chores.. Margaret was also out, but she's not a cuddly bunny. And, yes.... I have no fashion sense at 6 am!
I am in love with Stella's daughter, Francesca. (Stella... From the movie, Italian Job hence her offspring have Italian names). Francesca has 6 kits at last count as of 4:00 today. She let me pet her and take the video while in active labor. She pulled fur, made a nice nest. Siamese satins for THE WIN!
As opposed to Vanilla frosting who doesn't want to come in ... Short Cake is always ready to be picked up!
Couldn't sleep. So, I got up about an hour early. It was worth it. Jordan and I had a snuggle fest in the Bunny Barn. I believe Margaret was jealous!
The babies have discovered mom's morning treats!
A young satin rabbit tasting and enjoying what mom eats! How cute?
I'm fascinated at how Whitney was rearranging the sand. She had so much fun. Her final hole was huge!
Feeding treats to the grow outs! #youngbunnies #bethsbunnies
Vince helped himself to treats
this morning. #hollandlopbunnies #vincethebunny
This black australorp hen hatched at least one chick. She didn't stand up while I was there. As she shifted around I saw only one cracked eggshell. The chick peeps ever once in awhile. Such fun!
