Today was Suri's first session and she LOVED it! She became a little overwhelmed toward the very end, so I will adjust my approach next time so she is able to adjust and let go of even more tension! This sweet girl was very stoic but quickly became expressive after a withers release!

I struggled to find my place in the Horse Industry until I found Masterson Method®. The varying opinions and styles of horsemanship were overwhelming, but I was always drawn towards what was right for the horse since they give us their all. In 2019, Dolly suffered from a mysterious illness causing symptoms that have yet to be diagnosed. Finally, a wonderful vet recommended that I find a Masterson Method® Certified Practitioner. As I did my research, I was immediately drawn to the work and had to learn more for myself, and most importantly, for Dolly. I was amazed at the level of understanding and communication you can achieve by the lightest touch of Masterson Method®, so I had to learn as much as I could to be the best practitioner I could be. Becoming a Masterson Method® Certified Practitioner is one of the best decisions I could have made for myself and my horses. Dolly is thriving and I give credit to the lightest touch of Masterson Method® and the wonderful vet who recommended it. My goal is to reach as many horses I can in every discipline in order to allow them to feel and perform their best.

What a wonderful session with Madame Butterfly, also known as Maddie! This extremely talented mare was holding on to a lot of tension after a challenging dressage clinic. I loved watching the changes through her body and I wish I had gotten a before picture to demonstrate the change in the blood vessels and relaxation in her face.

Maverick sure does enjoy letting go of tension through his poll. Look at that sweet, relaxed face. ❤

Zip had a fabulous session yesterday. He was able to let go of a lot of tension through his poll, scapulas (his toughest area) and sacrum. If only I had been faster with my camera, I would have captured two huge stretches but I was having too much fun watching him. I love this work. ❤

So, what does a bodywork session look like?

Each session is completely different because each horse carries their tension differently. What works for one horse may not work for the next.

As a Masterson Method Certified Practitioner, we are trained to listen to the horse and work with them.

They play a role in their own progress and if we know how to listen and make them feel safe, they can let go of so much.

Today, I taught my hard working students how to do the Bladder Meridian which is a technique within the Masterson Method.

They said they had never seen June (the Haflinger) so relaxed. It is Jim Masterson's goal (the creator of Masterson Method) that every horse experience the Bladder Meridian at least once in their life and this is one step in the right direction.

Look at those yawns and that relaxed hip!

What is Masterson Method ®️? Masterson Method is a form of bodywork that works WITH the horse instead of ON the horse.

By working with the horse, the techniques release tension throughout the horse's body which can improve overall comfort, movement and performance.

This method of bodywork uses different levels of touch and movement that the horse can relax into and not brace against (which is their natural reaction to most things because they are a fight/flight animal).

I've worked on some new horses this week and several people have asked me why I love my job so much. The answer is simple. I love Masterson Method®️ because it has taught me how to listen to the horse through subtle changes in their body language. The horse will literally show you where they are holding tension if you know how to listen. Listening to the horse will allow many tiny breakthroughs (all significant) to accumulate that allow the horse to let go of any physical or emotional tension they are holding on to.
