To the owner whose horse lives out - your horse is fortunate to have an owner that can provide them the space to roam and graze as nature intended!

To the owner who rugs their horse - they will be so warm and cozy under their blanket, and less grooming means more time to ride!

To the owner of the unrugged horse - their coats are fascinating how they adapt to the weather, aren’t they?!

To the rider who wears cheap riding leggings and rubber boots – good for you…. you know that your horse couldn’t care less what you are wearing!

To the ‘all the gear and no idea’ rider - wow! You look incredible, your horse has everything it could ever wish for! You don’t have to be a grand prix rider to wear matchy-matchy. Go, you!

To the rider who rides once in a while – brilliant! It is so difficult to fit horses in around the rest of our lives. It’s great that you make the time to do the most that you can with your horse!

To the rider who never rides their horse – no problem. How lovely for your horse to spend its life being cuddled, groomed and grazing in the fields, you must have a wonderful relationship!

To the rider who rides everyday – go for it! Your dedication is admirable and your horse is benefiting from training and fitness. Well done!

To the happy hackers - you are living the dream of millions! What an honour to share such adventures with such extraordinary animals!

To the barefoot fanatic – I admire your passion. Barefoot is the best option for many horses. It is wonderful that you are trying to improve your horse’s comfort and foot health!

To the rider who trains with every professional and expert going – brilliant. What a wealth of knowledge and expertise you have access to!

To the self-taught rider – you must be so proud. What an achievement!

To the professional rider – you inspire me. Your results and rosettes are impressive. They are not won without hard work, commitment, sacrifice and talent. You deserve your success!

To the rider who has never won anything – who cares?! Your horse doesn’t! The passion you have for your sport is worth so much more than any material!

If you want to win and have not had any luck – keep going. You will get there eventually. The hardest won successes are the sweetest!

To the owner who keeps their horse spotlessly clean, neatly trimmed and pulled – marvellous! I applaud your attention to detail. Your horse looks beautiful!

To the owner whose horse is caked in mud and has dread locks – I laugh with you! You know that horses love to roll and if you were to bath your horse today, you would find them in exactly the same mucky state again tomorrow!

As long as your horse is happy and healthy, what you do with your horse is nobody else’s business. The only time anybody should interfere is if there is a genuine equine welfare issue, a safety issue, or if you have specifically asked for advice or help. Otherwise, please let’s not judge others.

‘Each to their own,’ and if it’s good for your horse then ‘good for you!’ 🐴❤️

Circulation and Kinesiology Tape:
In discussions surrounding kinesiology tape and bodywork, circulation will always be mentioned as a key benefit. As a bodyworker struggling with chronic joint pain, I have found kinesiology taping to be an extremely effective method of pain relief. Upon application, the tape induces a 'rebound' effect on the skin, creating a lifting motion that increases interstitial space within the tissues. This enhanced interstitial space leads to alleviated tension and increased circulation of blood and lymphatic fluid. In horses, the tape also facilitates communication to the nervous system through mechanoreceptors within the hair follicles. The interplay between muscular tension, decreased circulation, and nociceptor activation culminates in the sensation of pain. A wrist application on myself served as a great visual of this increased circulation. Despite the carpus joint's minimal muscular surroundings, fascial restrictions can occur, resulting in reduced blood flow and pain. The tape's ability to lift the skin and release fascial restrictions facilitated improved circulation, reduced nociceptor activity, and subsequent pain relief! Kinesiology tape also improves proprioception, reduces inflammation/swelling, provides support for joints and muscles, promotes healing and so much more!

The holiday season is here! Gift certificates are available and make a wonderful present to your horse loving friends and family.🎁🎄🎄

Be sure to support your local and family owned businesses this holiday season!🎁

I will not be offering any black friday discounts/sales on services. As a small business owner, this is a difficult accommodation that large corporations have the luxury of offering. Often times business owners feel pressured into these tactics but our work and experience are valuable! We are not a cheap plastic item on a store shelf. We are professionals, entrepreneurs and skilled workers, that shall not be discounted.❤️

Another fantastic weekend of dogs and learning! We are neck deep in anatomy over here😅🦴💪
Case studies are underway and I will be in contact with all pet parents of selected dogs soon. While I had a lot of interest in case study sessions, I had to narrow my selections down to flexibility and location as my schedule can be complicated. I greatly appreciate all of your trust and support so please take no hard feelings if your dog was not selected. I hope to have the opportunity to work with all the dogs in the future💗🐕

Chances are, if you’ve seen me this month I’ve expressed my dislike for “No Stirrup November”! A great read to educate yourself a bit more on the effects we have on our horse’s body.

Every year on November 1st, riders around the world drop their stirrups and commit to the challenge of No-Stirrup November. The intention behind this initiative is to improve the seat and leg. But is committing to sore inner thighs for an entire month really worth the hype?

Riding without stirrups is a valuable tool for enhancing your seat, as long as it’s done correctly. However, just as with any physical training, you can’t jump from zero to a hundred overnight and the quality of the exercise is far more important than the quantity for your own body’s sake, but also for your horse’s!

The problem is that when pushing yourself to ride without stirrups beyond your ability, you will end up gripping with your thighs in an attempt to maintain balance. This will lead to tightness in your hips and rigidity in your lower back, making it impossible to achieve a supple seat. Not only does this have a detrimental effect on your own back health, but it affects your horse too...

Remember, a pliable seat is crucial for allowing your horse's back to oscillate and if you’re stiff through your pelvis, hips, and thighs, it will interfere with your horse's movement and overall comfort.
A sudden and drastic shift in your seat like this will result in tension in your horse’s body in an effort to compensate for your instability in the saddle.

So, rather than pulling the stirrups off of your saddle for the entire month of November, consider gradually increasing your tolerance for riding without stirrups throughout the year. Focus on strengthening your body and core, and work on your proprioception out of the saddle if you're looking to develop a better seat.

You can enhance your seat without risking your horse's comfort and health.

So let's rethink No-Stirrup November - Don’t be a pain in your horse's back!

Good things take time, and these illustrations are worth the wait. Every muscle is drawn origin to insertion and individually layered. Chef's kiss 👩‍🍳💋 Shout out to our scientific illustrator who is knocking it out of the park yet again 👌👏

It’s been far too long since I’ve shared before and afters!
Both of these sweet horses are unfortunately battling back pain.👎 When horses develop hypertonicity and discomfort in the back their balance, posture, gait, etc is altered. When left unaddressed, we see them begin to develop compensatory patterns and the body continues in this cycle until we have chronic lameness and pain throughout the body.
Addressing issues early on is crucial to maintaining comfort and soundness, that’s why routine bodywork is best practice!🤩
Can you identify the difference in their posture??
