Colby’s first pictures:

Colby’s story: The owners told the person who found Colby that he was a “picky eater” and only wanted the expensive food. So instead of finding Colby help. They locked Colby in a kennel to waste away. The original finder of Colby immediately stepped into action and got Colby seen by a veterinarian. As of right now he is on antibiotics. (We have another appointment today at our vet to get another good look at him *will edit to update)

He’s such a sweet old soul. How someone could do this to a living creature?… let alone HIM? I have no words…
Don’t worry Colby we got you🩵🥺✨
*Donations twords veterinary costs would be GREATLY appreciated🫶🏻

Update on Chance🩵:
Chance says “it feels great to see again!”. After a few round a fluids, eye drops and other needed treatments Chance is feeling soo much better! Chance came to us with Mouth rot (infection in the mouth) & stuck shed (as seen in picture #1 This is caused by lack of humidity during shedding. Witch is why we recommend providing a humid hide in Leopard Gecko enclosures) Chance is missing almost half of his toes due to stuck shed cutting off circulation (making them infected to the point they fell off) He also has Hypovitaminosis A (vitamin A deficiency) this can cause eye/other issues *because they are not able to convert beta-carotene precursors into vitamin A* Witch is needed for a reptiles body to function properly (especially in captivity)

✨This is why proper lighting and vitamin supplements are soo important for your reptiles! Please check and research what you should be supplementing your reptiles buggies/food with✨

Chance is starting to see soo much better and has been successfully hunting bugs on his own (with some assistance). Only way is up from here buddy!🩵

First rehab babies of 2024.
Emmett and Oliver. (Male gray squirrels) Original finder found them in her driveway. She did attempt to leave them where she thought mama would eventually come back. After a few days with no luck these starving little guys finally found their way to us. Already settling down in their new nest with full warm bellies❤️✨ They’ll be returned back to the wild once they are established. (In about 5-6 weeks give or take)

Getting a bearded dragon is a life long commitment not a on the warm decision. They solely rely on you and are a 7 to 9 yr up to 15 yr commitment. Make sure you do your research before getting one, if you already have one it's not too late to start learning. All beardies deserve an amazing happy life!

I am always happy to help, please feel free to reach out with any questions. I am happy to help, I'd rather see beardies doing good then trying to save them when they get to this state.

Newest intake: Chance🥺

& that’s exactly what we are going to give him…A real Chance❤️ DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE BUYING THE ANIMAL🗣️ Animals like Chance suffer because of lack of research/education… Just do the darn research for the better life quality of your pet🤌🏻 They deserve better!
Edit to add: His other eye is sadly WAY worse but didn’t want to bother him too much last night for the picture.

Birds recovery process during the past 6 months✨🤍 It’s been a huge blessing watching her recover. This is why we do what we do… We can’t stress this enough. PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH before buying a animal! Especially a reptile that requires pin point husbandry, humidity and maintenance like Bird. (Chameleons are NOT a beginner species!) Just because the big chain pet stores have them labeled as a “beginner species” It’s NOT the case! Chameleons can be very hard to maintain if not done correctly. Bird is a great example of why research before purchase is soooo important!

“Remember, be kind to someone” -Brian Barczyk🤍🐍

On behalf of the Barczyk family and our entire team at The Reptarium, it is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Brian Barczyk.

More than the guiding light of our organization, Brian's fervent passion for reptiles and wildlife, along with his steadfast dedication to education, has touched innumerable hearts and minds globally.

Our deepest sympathies are with Brian's family, his friends, and all those whose lives he has touched. We've lost an exceptional individual – a visionary, mentor, and friend. For those of us who had the privilege of working alongside him, Brian's absence leaves an immeasurable void.
As we navigate this difficult time, we find comfort in the memories and the lasting light of Brian's work. He will be deeply missed but indeed, never forgotten.

The Barczyk family invites you to join us for a Public Memorial Walk-through to honor Brian’s memory. The event will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Heritage Church, located at 44625 Schoenherr Rd. Sterling Heights, MI 48313 from 1-3pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to show your support by visiting https://thereptarium.com/pages/brianbarczyk . Your engagement and involvement are greatly valued during this time.

Also, at LegaSea's opening, visitors will find Brian's handprints. Guests place their hands in his, continuing his legacy in a simple, yet powerful gesture. Please continue to follow this page for updates.

Brian, we will see you in the next one. Everyone else, see you at LegaSea.

- The Reptarium Team.
