Shady's Paw Animal Rescue SPAR was founded in honor of Shady, a community cat who needed extensive medical care.

Our mission statement:
Shady’s Paw Animal Rescue works to improve the lives of cats and the people who care for them in Lake Holiday and the surrounding areas through 1) TNR and colony management, 2) fostering and adoptions, 3) educating the public on best practices for feline care in the home or colony setting, and 4) supporting the needs of cats in the communities we serve.

Draiman is an 11 year old sweetheart. He was found and taken in by a good samaritan who nurses him back to health.
Done with his life on the streets, he is ready to live the good life indoors with his forever family.

Life is purr-fect when you find your forever home!

Smudge update!.The transition is going so well! She has the run of the entire basement with Goose. She is the queen. No doubt about that. She is sitting on my lap purring away. She touches my nose snd Goose's nose with her nose. Not sure why but we don't mind. She is eating well and is very playful with the cat toys. She met one of my friends the other the other day and was very charming with her. She was not shy at all. I am very happy she is settling in.

Paws crossed we finally get a diagnosis for our sweet boy Obi. He came to us from our rescue partners at Doe Eyes Animal Sanctuary & Rescue A few months ago and has had several trips to the vet since then. We think we finally have it narrowed down to asthma, which unfortunately is a rule out diagnosis in cats so he's been through a battery of tests to rule out everything else. He has a follow-up vet appointment on Monday and we are hoping to get an official diagnosis so this boy can get on the right track with his health 💜🖤💜

❤️‍🩹Stevie the Wonder Cat.❤️‍🩹
On May 19, Stevie was found in the middle of a Fred. Co. back road. Finders moved her to the side, but she crawled back into the road, presumably to stay warm on the black asphalt. No mama or other kittens could be found. We took her in, and she went to the vet. The conjunctivitis had adhered to her corneas and several visits later, under the care of a medical foster, we just could not save her eyes. Yesterday, they performed an emergency double enucleation at Blue Ridge Veterinary Associates.

Her total vet care so far is $1,837.50 that we need to cover by donations. Please consider donating or sharing this post. Anything helps.

The SNAP Feline Triple Test is a blood test that can screen cats for three infectious diseases in 10 minutes: feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), feline leukemia virus (FeLV), and feline heartworm (FHW). It can help promote feline health care by detecting diseases that are often underdiagnosed.

One of the ways we reduce medical care costs is by purchasing these tests directly at a much lower per test rate than purchasing them through vet's offices. We recently purchased 2 boxes, 60 tests, to hopefully get us through kitten season. This is a good chunk of change upfront but saves us so much money in the long run.

Emma, our adoptable FeLV girl benefited from one of these tests when she tested positive, ensuring we can provide her with appropriate medical care to keep her healthy as long as possible. She is wondering if you'd want to help us continue to provide the best care for our felines by donating so we can pay this invoice for these very important tests.

We were contacted about these babies found in a chicken coop shed. They needed medical attention ASAP so we sent them to the vet for initial care but all of our medical fosters are completely full. We had no room to keep these poor babies beyond this weekend. We reached out for help and our friends at Dakota's Dream Animal Rescue were able to make a little space for them to continue to help them.

Please consider fostering or volunteering for a local rescue. This kitten season is so bad and we are all drowning. We need help to save lives💜🖤💜
