All good things must come to an end! Sage’s testing is complete, however he wants to explore this new room he has never seen before the test. Love puppy antics!!!!

Sage is tested on Stability. Interestingly, we startled the puppies with implementing the Startle recovery exercises in the Puppy Culture Program however that is sound based startle. This was a combination of a sight and sound startle, however it didn’t seem to phase Sage. He recovered nicely and explored the umbrella!

It’s flashback Friday!!!! Last week, on Friday, we had Jennifer and her assistant Dayle, visit our home to visit the Garden Litter and conduct their temperament testing! Here is Sage working with Jennifer Davenport of Three Dog Training, on following.

Oregano, also known as Gus, loved his beef rib bone during our resource guarding exercise. He seemed very open to sharing. He knows sharing is caring! We repeated this exercise since our first recording of Gus’ resource guarding work was too long for Facebook’s liking. Thus poor Gus had to gnaw on his meaty “ high value item” bone again. Lol! Second time around the block with this bone produced the same results .... it’s no biggie if you want to mess with my food while I’m eating!!!!! Yeah, Gus! I think you are ready to move on to your awaiting family with those cute twins and their big brother. You are ready to live your best life!

Honeybee loved this training! Who wouldn’t? The dogs ate beef short ribs while we ate hot dogs! Honey bee didn’t care if we took the bone or not! She liked the chicken too.

Winner winner, chicken dinner!!! ( or maybe chicken swapped for a beef short rib bone! ). Rosemary showed us that she does believe the bone is HERS!!!! She growled at little to tell me to knock it off and leave her bone alone. It may seem almost cute and funny that this sweet, tail wagging pup, could get possessive but they can and she did. We know that she will be able to tolerate people handling her food IF we work with her and practice showing her that we will NEVER just take something away but will always swap her for something else, just as good. We have to practice and she will change her mind. We will shape her behavior by training her with a few different “exercises”. It’s such a rewarding feeling when we SEE the change occur!

We worked with Basil (who will be called Kobe in his new home) on resource guarding. He loved the beef short rib bone. He did not guard his bone and did like the chicken that I swapped for the bone.

We work with Sage on resource guarding. He did not show any signs or display any concerning behaviors! He willingly gave up the beef short rib bone for some chicken! He’s a very chill pup!

We practice “manding” frequently around here. If the puppy sits when we approach their puppy room, they sit down and I give the sitting puppies a training treat. Manding is part of the puppy culture program that we use while raising our litters.

Mornings start early here with the puppies! Today they practiced manding with me and played in the ball pit! Meanwhile, our teenager helps clean the weaning pen/ puppy room. Sometimes we just have to work and play with the litter in our pjs!!! Lol!

We received a “hello” from the Chambers family and Zach ( formerly St. Patrick from the Lucky Leprechaun Litter). Zach loves swimming with his family in the pool! He’s such a smart doodle too! Whenever he sees someone in their bathing suit, he gets very excited because he knows what that means..... POOL TIME!!!!

Our first puppy selection for the Garden Litter took place last night! The Longfellow family chose Oregano! We are so happy he will be a part of this sweet family!

Yesterday, we took the litter to the car wash to have a novel experience for the day! 3 trips, 5 pups and 3 clean cars! The puppies were mostly not too fazed by all the sights and sounds!
