I wonder how many night emergencies I have had in the rain over the years. I wonder what’s the record. Is anybody counting?

Am I even driving on the road? I can’t tell…

My truck is good about having a few extra lights on when I’m out late on emergencies. Chevy was smart to add this feature for folks that travel at night.

This post is just a reminder to check the FAMACHA scores of your sheep and goats when it stops raining!

Be aware that the infective parasite larvae remain trapped inside the f***l pellets until after rainfall or a heavy dew. Also, pasture counts build up throughout grazing season and will peak in the late summer. The combination of these factors means that your herds may be more vulnerable to heavy parasite loads right now. Below is a great resource for understanding the FAMACHA deworming protocol for sheep and goats. Dr. Zajac was my parasitology professor in vet school, so you can watch the video and pretend to be a vet student for FREE!

As we prepare to mow the first hay of the 2025 season I think it's time to remind everyone please be patient when you see tractors and equipment on the road. I know its slow and we impede traffic and you are in hurry to get to where you need to go. Our equipment is wide, heavy and may or may not have lights. We cannot pull the equipment off the road to let cars pass just anywhere, we will pull off the road or wave you around when it's safe to do so. Please remember we are going as fast as we can and be patient with us over the next several months!
