Product Highlight: Rodent Chews

In an effort to have minimal waste, we have put together these bags of antler scraps that are perfect for hamsters, guinea pigs, chinchillas, etc.

One of the things that classifies an animal as a rodent is the fact that their front teeth never quit growing. So antlers provide a perfect chew that helps keep their teeth worn down.

A man asked us for a recommendation the other day. “I have a large dog that goes through anything we give her.”

We recommended a large Red Stag Crown. Since it is a large chunk of antler, with a hard exterior and loaded with marrow inside.

This is the picture we received the next day with the comment “Thank you sir! She went right after it... She hasn’t stopped yet!”

With a denser marrow, the whitetail antlers are good for medium sized power chewers. We cut most of these tines with a cross section of main beam attached to add a little extra to chew!

Whitetail Deer
•
The Whitetail Deer is the most common deer species in North America. With an estimated 30 million deer, they inhabit all of central and eastern United States, up into Canada, and down into Mexico.
•
When it is alarmed, it runs with its white under tail upward, giving it their name. During the spring, they start growing their antlers, and can grow more than an inch per day in captivity.

Jimi. The 90lb catahoula/boxer/pit bull/bloodhound mix. Will be 5yrs old in February & is the bestest boy I’ve ever owned.
When he was a puppy, I provided him all the bones a pup could dream of to ensure he knew what healthy chewing was! Well, while it saved my belongings, in the long run, it didn’t save my wallet 😭
Once he got older, bones became boring. No matter how meaty, big, expensive, bones weren’t interesting anymore. Therefore, I’ve had to pay to have his teeth cleaned by the vet! (Not cheap)
I never bought antlers at the pet stores because of how expensive they were for also how little they were!
Well, while at a market I came across & the guy was SO KNOWLEDGEABLE & directed me to the right antler to have my jimi try before spending a lot of money on, again, something he wouldn’t chew! He even asked about Jimi’s chewing habits, which is below average! I’m just amazed at how jimi DOES NOT STOP CHEWING IT! I also feel so happy about the quality & knowing it supports a small business! Thank you Lonestar Antler Chews! I’m now excited to purchase the big antlers in the future!
