Here is videos of what Tonguey looked like last year.
He had a " rodent ulcer " also called Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex (EGC) They are indolent severe lesions that arise on the cats top lip. While NOT ACTUALLY BEING CAUSED BY A RODENT BITE. There are several different ways they are caused. Bacterial infections, flea allergies, food allergies, a fungal infection, autoimmune disorders, feline leukemia, mosquito bite allergies. This issue was making his tongue stick out constantly. Hence, his name.
However this along side his stomatitis was making it very hard for him to eat. He was severely underweight & in pain. Not to mention crusty & stinky. It took awhile to bring him to the Vet. He was actually last. Sadly. But I had to rehabilitate him to being a calm domesticated "house" cat that would be able to handle other humans at the vet. See when you bring a Cat to a Vet and they're still a little "feral" it won't be good for anyone involved. I had to gently transition him. See some cats might be comfortable & calm with you but that just might be with you ;! Especially if they were like this lil guy. TNR colony probably born outside, away from humans. His original care takers would only leave kibble out and they pretty much had no interaction with the cats. It took me so long to get him & the others to trust me.
