Who We Are and What We Do

We are a branch of Sierra Pacific Furbabies, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit pet rescue. Our location serves California’s northern coastal counties and those counties adjacent. Our cats are cared for in private volunteer foster homes, featured online and at Petco, Eureka, and are available to meet by appointment only. M

ost of our rescue cats come from shelters, have been abandoned or reported as strays. We only rarely accept owner surrenders, primarily in the cases of owner death, incarceration, or nursing home placement. All of our cats are tested for feline leukemia, FIV, and heartworm, are spayed or neutered, provided their basic shots, microchipped, deflead and dewormed prior to adoption. All are litter box trained with the exception of barn cats. Kittens are socialized prior to adoption. Barn cat temperament may range from friendly to feral. We require our cats to be adopted into indoor-only homes for their own safety, with the exception of barn cats and working cats, and the occasional adult cat rescued from a 100% outdoor setting. Potential adopters must complete an application, have landlord approval if renting, allow a safety homecheck, and pay an adoption fee. We do offer a small discount to seniors, military/veterans, and with proof of disability. With rare exception we require our adopters to be 21 or over. We specialize in matching cats to adopters. Cats have unique purr-sonalities too and not every cat is ideal for all potential adopters.

Sweet Sparky has been readopted after losing his senior adopter, who passed away. He basically moved up Humboldt Hill to his new adoptive home. His new adopters had adopted a senior cat from us previously and that kitty had recently passed away. Kind of the purrfect circle of life for him and his new family. PLEASE SHARE! Who has a big heart and a big cat safe yard or catio? This is Simon (aka Rebel) who was once a free roaming semi-feral being cared for by a feeder in Eureka. One day he was horribly injured. The injury was a massive bite wound through one of his eyes and into his head. It got infected. Concerned neighbors saw him, bloody and covered in wounds. They posted about him, and with their help two rescues banded together and got him vet care. First, he was treated for the infection. Once recovered, his eye was removed and he was neutered, got his shots and was tested. He tested FIV positive. After recovering from that surgery he is now looking for a soft place to land. He is such an amazing survivor. He submitted to all sorts of medication, confinement and treatments. He is pettable and not aftaid of people. However, he is not a lap cat or a cuddler at this point. The vet thinks he is about 7-8 years old. Is there someone somewhere who would give this miracle boy a safe and soft landing? Additional photos in the comments. Some may difficult for some people to view. Just remember, he lived it, and came through it ❤️
