❤️🐾🐾❤️ Please SHARE and help us thank Raine’s village!!
We want to express our sincerest gratitude to Lycoming Regional Police Department
Williamsport Firefighters Local 736 Old Lycoming Twp Vol Fire Co Station 14 and Engine 14-1. You are heroes!! 🚒👮♂️🚒👮♂️🚒👮
There are several people and at least one dog 🐶 who slept really well last night because yesterday was a very good rescue day. 🥰
Saturday evening Raine went to her new foster home. Within about an hour of being there, she pushed past her foster and escaped.
She was on the run through the ice storm Saturday night, through extremely low overnight temps, and she had her leash still attached, which caused concern about her getting stuck on something. Little did we know, that was what was going to help get her back to us.
There were quite a few sightings, but no one was able to secure her. Then the call came. Someone had Raine!!!
We have so many people to be grateful for over the last 3️⃣ days. Those who shared her post on Facebook, those who took the time to report sightings, those who took the time to drive around looking for her. The people who offered their prayers. 🙏The people who live along Bottle Run Road. The 911 staff who called with a sighting.
Robyn, the trapper, and her team, special shout out to Mary, who created the flyer!! Your guidance and your teams support made a huge difference! You told us that flyer was 🔑 and it played a vital role in getting Raine back to us.
We don’t have last names in most cases, but we want to thank Vince and Barry! We want to thank those who helped to try and secure a sighting…Claire, Trey, Lindsay, Michelle, Michelle’s dad RB, Shelby, Penny, Nicole, Jessica Weaver Jessica’s son, and all the others we don’t know about!
The first call came from Dog Warden Sarah Morehart, telling us a woman by the name of Jessica had Raine. We didn’t know how and we didn’t know where, we didn’t yet know the whole story, but we said please hold on tight! We’ll get someone there! Warden Morehart assured us Raine was secure and she provided us with Jessica‘s number.
The fosters were also called and were able to get there to pick up Raine quickly! When the Police Officer present wanted to verify the right people were picking up Raine, you could hear a lot of noise, people, commotion but we didn’t know where they were, so no questions were asked yet. We were just thankful Raine was safe!
Raine was taken to her foster home and they looked her over, was she okay? She was limping a bit on her right back leg, smelled of skunk, and was clearly quite tired. She had a vet visit today at Wolf Run Veterinary Clinic for an overall wellness check.
At this point a Facebook post started to be shared of firetrucks and police cars, and a rescue…for Raine!! What did this girl get herself into we thought?
One of our volunteers reached out to Jessica, the woman who had found Raine. We had to know, what happened?
Here is Raine’s rescue story. Jessica had been out doing some shopping with her children when one of her sons pointed to something along a fence, just below a highway and said, “ I think that’s a dog mom”. Jessica looked and couldn’t tell, was it a dog? Was it a trash bag stuck on a fence? There were so many people driving by even people on bikes and no one seemed to notice the dark spot by the fence. But Jessica needed to know, was that a dog? So she turned around, and parked her car on the side of the road, got out, and the dark spot raised its head. It was definitely a dog! No one knew it yet, but it was Raine.
Jessica cautiously approached her and noticed how sad her eyes were and how tired she looked. She had somehow gotten tied around the fence with the leash that was on her. Someone driving by asked if everything was OK. Jessica said she couldn’t get this dog loose from this fence. This is when the firefighters and police officers got involved. Did someone put this dog here they questioned. Raine was on the opposite side of the fence from all the people, and there were no gates for the fence, they couldn’t see a place where she could’ve gotten through so did she come down from the highway? Everyone agreed they had to help this dog. They had to actually cut the fence to get Raine loose but they got her and finally after three days of not knowing where she was, Raine was safe!!!
Words really aren’t sufficient to express the gratitude we feel for the communities’ support, their time, and their efforts to guarantee that our sweet, 98 pound, Great Dane Mix named Raine, is safe.
Thank you! Yesterday was a beautiful rescue day! There are people who do heroic things every day; Firefighters, Police Officers, Dog Wardens, people driving by and noticing something isn’t right and helping!
It does take a village in rescue! To everyone involved, THANK YOU for being Raine’s village ❤
