A month ago Ellen and I attended the CEPPA National Breed Show in France. One of the highlights is pictured below. Cyril brought Castiron Cleo’s Dior (Manny/Cleo)…the only Picardy Spaniel whelped in North America that now resides and hunts regularly in France. Dior will be confirmed this fall when she participates in the TAN, which is somewhat akin to the NAVHDA Natural Ability test. It was very nice to have one of our dogs critiqued by European breeders.

It takes a village…
In May the CDC announced new import regs that will make importing puppies challenging at best. So we went to work and helped bring these 3 puppies to the US to augment the gene pool should they be breedable. It wouldn’t have been possible without our friends in France and Canada. It has been over a year since we have seen her. She is the first Picardy Spaniel sent back to France from North America. A beautiful dog and a hunting machine. So happy she remembered us. More pix to follow.

Castiron Whiskey’s Fenix (aka Waffles) getting it done in CO. He’s 4 months old and at training last week he had birds shot over him for the first time. All birds were retrieved to hand. The youngest at the training event, Waffles then wowed the crowd by honoring.

Chloe (Castiron Cleo’s Didi) treed a mountain lion yesterday on an off-leash walk in British Columbia. She saw it on a sandbar and went to investigate. And then gave chase. Chloe is 1.5 years old and apparently fearless.


Mountain Lion picture is not the one Chloe treed. Her owner was too busy getting Cloe leashed and out of harms way to get a pix.
