Here’s Bernadette!
This stunning 6-year-old Husky mix just completed 24 rehab sessions and is doing fabulous after her right TPLO and meniscectomy at the end of last year.

She crushed every part of her program—especially the cavalettis! 🐾 In this video, Bernadette shows that you can go over and under the rails to activate different muscle groups and challenge the mind. Cavalettis are a great way to improve coordination, joint flexion, proprioception, and control after surgery.

Congratulations to Bernadette on officially graduating from rehab! 🎓 We’re so proud of her progress and can’t wait to see what adventures come next!

Meet Serrano, a 9-year-old Miniature Schnauzer with a heart full of grit and a new chapter to share. 💛 After undergoing a left front limb amputation with our team at Trek Veterinary Surgery, Serrano and her amazing human (a talented photographer!) are using their Instagram platform to document the highs, lows, and everyday moments of life on three legs.

Their goal? To offer transparency, support, and hope to other pet parents facing similar decisions. From surgery to recovery to rediscovering joy—Serrano is showing us all what resilience truly looks like. 💪🐾

✨ Follow along on Instagram for an honest, beautifully captured look at the journey after amputation and the strength of our four-legged family members.

🐾 Patient of the Week: Zuko! 🐾

Meet Zuko, our handsome Patient of the Week! 💙 Zuko came to Trek for bilateral elbow arthroscopy to treat suspected elbow dysplasia and medial coronoid disease—two conditions that can cause pain and lameness in the front limbs of young, active dogs.

🦴 Elbow dysplasia is a developmental condition where the bones in the elbow joint don’t fit together properly, leading to abnormal wear and joint inflammation.

🔎 One specific form of this is medial coronoid disease, which occurs when a small fragment of bone in the elbow joint (called the medial coronoid process) becomes damaged or loose, creating pain and limiting movement.

⚙️ To diagnose and treat this, Zuko underwent arthroscopy, a minimally invasive surgical procedure where a small camera and instruments are inserted into the joint. This allows our surgeon to visualize the inside of the elbow, remove bone fragments, and smooth out damaged cartilage with precision—all through tiny incisions.

Let’s hear it for Zuko! 👏✨

💪🐾 Meet Re*****on (aka Remy), a rockstar patient who underwent bilateral TPLO surgery with our team just over a week ago — and he’s already impressing us with his progress! 🙌

His amazing family shared some videos just days post-op showing Remy cruising around with sling support during potty breaks. For a big dog recovering from surgery on both knees at once, that’s no small feat! 💥

Bilateral TPLO can be more challenging than a single-limb procedure, especially in larger breeds. Recovery often requires more assistance and careful planning. In most cases, we recommend staging surgeries (one at a time), but in select cases — when the patient and their people are fully prepared — we’ll consider doing both simultaneously.

Remy’s got the best support crew behind him every step of the way, and it shows. 🐓🐓🐓

🎓 Graduation Alert! 🎓
A huge shoutout to Scout for completing 12 sessions of rehab after her left TPLO and MPL correction surgery!

At just over 5 months post-op, Scout is crushing her strength exercises and showing great progress. Her dedication (and those purposeful hip stretches!) paid off—she’s stronger, more mobile, and officially ready to graduate!

We’re so proud of the work Scout and her family have put in. Congrats, Scout!🐶❤️

🎉 Rehab Graduate Spotlight: Lilith! 🐾💪
Congratulations to Lilith, our gorgeous Newfie gal, who just graduated from her rehabilitation program following TPLO surgery!

When Lilith started rehab, she had quite a bit of muscle atrophy in her surgical limb—but that didn’t stop her or her dedicated rehab tech and owners! Her program focused on rebuilding strength and symmetry, with a special emphasis on incline work in the underwater treadmill. 🌊🏋️‍♀️

💡 How does the underwater treadmill help?
The buoyancy of the water reduces stress on joints while the resistance of walking through water encourages muscle engagement. Adding an incline increases the demand on her hind limbs, helping build strength where she needed it most—all while keeping her safe and supported.

We’re so proud of Lilith’s hard work and progress—she's stronger, more confident, and back to living her best life. Go Lilith! 🎓🐾💙

🐾 Case Spotlight: Wally 🐾

Sweet Wally is a 2.5 year old chihuahua mix who presented with a malunion fracture of the tibia resulting in a significant angular limb deformity and mechanical lameness. A corrective tibial osteotomy was performed to realign the limb and restore more normal biomechanics. Post-operative alignment was significantly improved, and Wally is now focusing on his recovery at home. 🦴🔧

Swipe to view pre- and post-operative video footage and radiographs demonstrating the correction achieved through surgery. His dedicated owners are optimistic about his recovery, and we look forward to continued improvement as healing progresses. 💪

Meet Gus 💛

Gus is a sweet 13-year-old Lab our rehabilitation team has been working with for ongoing maintenance care. He has GOLPP, front limb lameness, hind limb neuropathy, and arthritis in multiple joints—but none of that stops him from enjoying life and keeping up with his brother Milo. 🐾

Thanks to regular rehab sessions, Gus has made great progress in regaining strength and mobility. Continued sessions will focus on managing his pain and helping him maintain what he’s gained—so he can keep loving his walks and playtime.

He always looks forward to his visits (especially the treats 😄), and we love seeing him thrive. Featured here with his amazing rehab tech, Jessica! 🐶❤️
