🐾 Case Spotlight: Wally 🐾

Sweet Wally is a 2.5 year old chihuahua mix who presented with a malunion fracture of the tibia resulting in a significant angular limb deformity and mechanical lameness. A corrective tibial osteotomy was performed to realign the limb and restore more normal biomechanics. Post-operative alignment was significantly improved, and Wally is now focusing on his recovery at home. 🦴🔧

Meet Gus 💛

Gus is a sweet 13-year-old Lab our rehabilitation team has been working with for ongoing maintenance care. He has GOLPP, front limb lameness, hind limb neuropathy, and arthritis in multiple joints—but none of that stops him from enjoying life and keeping up with his brother Milo. 🐾

Thanks to regular rehab sessions, Gus has made great progress in regaining strength and mobility. Continued sessions will focus on managing his pain and helping him maintain what he’s gained—so he can keep loving his walks and playtime.

He always looks forward to his visits (especially the treats 😄), and we love seeing him thrive. Featured here with his amazing rehab tech, Jessica! 🐶❤️

Meet Poncho, a very distinguished 13-year-old Dachshund mix who recently had a laparoscopic liver biopsy to investigate his persistently elevated ALKP levels.

His dad says, “Fun fact: he’s my eldest son ❤️ but we look nothing alike.” 😂

When he’s not at the vet, Poncho spends his days fiercely defending his sidewalk from all who dare to trespass—stroller-pushers and dog-walkers alike. It’s a full-time job, and he takes it very seriously. 👀🐶

🐾 Recovery Rockstar 🐾

Meet Ozzie, a 4-year-old Yorkie who’s crushing it after TPLO + MPL surgery! 💪🦴 This little trooper is the poster pup for how to recover like a champ. Post-surgical recovery is just as important as the surgery itself, and Ozzie’s setup is spot on. Here’s how he’s setting himself up for success:

✔️ Confined space – limits activity to prevent injury during healing
✔️ No stairs or jumping – reduces stress on the joints and prevents setbacks
✔️ No slippery floors – helps with traction and confidence
✔️ Access to food and water – within reach to avoid unnecessary movement
✔️ Controlled potty breaks – always on leash and short distances
✔️ Lots of rest – healing takes energy, and rest is key

Stanley is living his best life after his prophylactic gastropexy surgery. At just 14 months old and 134 lbs of pure enthusiasm, this boy loves EVERYTHING… including dressing up in his post-surgical fits. 🐾💅 His parents lovingly describe him as a “menace to society”.

Sweet Bailey is an almost 2 year old Boston gal who came to see the Trek team after being diagnosed with grade 3/4 medial patellar luxation on her right hind limb. MPL correction surgery was performed and Bailey is on her way to a pain free future!

Medial Patellar Luxation (MPL) is graded as follows:

Grade I: Patella can be dislocated manually but returns on its own, with mild lameness.

Grade II: Patella dislocates easily but can return, mild to moderate lameness.

Grade III: Patella is dislocated most of the time but can be repositioned, moderate lameness.

Grade IV: Patella is permanently dislocated, severe lameness.

A big congratulations to Oliver on graduating from his 9 session rehabilitation program following MPL surgery! He is now weight bearing well, adding trotting into his daily walks, and will be returning to playing fetch and doggy daycare in just a few weeks. We are so proud of your progress, Oliver!
