Just finished cleaning the carpet in the recreation hall at South Parkersburg United Methodist Church. It turned out pretty good if I say so myself. On a side note, this is the same church my aunt was married in over 50 years ago. A lot of changed in the world since that time, but not this old church. Pretty cool.

I was wondering why Friday the 13th is considered to be an unlucky day to so many people.
It has been associated over the years to everything from Black Cats to Jason Voorhees, but what really started this scary but unfounded tradition of fear? From what I have discovered, although the number 12 is considered a perfect number and is associated with such things as the 12 days of Christmas, the 12 signs of the Zodiac 12 months of the year and the 12 tribes of Israel, the number 13 has a much more negative connotation. Some say it stems from the Christian biblical tradition of the thirteen guests at the Last Supper, including Jesus and his 12 apostles (one of whom, Judas, betrayed him). Since that time, thirteen guests at a dinner table have been considered ominous. Many hotels omit the 13th floor, and I have never been on an airplane that had the 13th row. However, you interact with the number 13 every day when you touch a dollar bill. The eagle on the American seal on the backside of the dollar bill holds a olive branch with 13 leaves in one claw, 13 arrows in the another and has 13 stars over its head representing the 13 colonies.
As far as how Friday got brought into the mix nobody really knows. It seems to be no unluckier than Friday the 15th. Some have suggested it may also have roots in Christian tradition. Just as Jesus was crucified on a Friday, Friday was also said to be the day Eve gave Adam the fateful apple from the Tree of Knowledge, as well as the day Cain killed his brother Abel. One thing is for sure, when you put Friday and thirteen together even the biggest nonbeliever steps a little bit softer on that day.

As you are aware from the news and the many emails you’ve probably been receiving from businesses, the covid-19 virus, referred to as the coronavirus, is on the forefront of everyone’s mind. I’m sure by now, you are keenly aware of what to do to help prevent the spread of this virus. I want to address how ProClean is combating the spread of not only the covid-19 virus, but all viruses, bacteria and fungi, as we move from one client’s home to another.

On a daily basis, we follow strict standards set forth by the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification in viral, bacterial and fungal cleanup and eradication. Following these standards, ProClean has never had a case of cross-contamination. Not even among our employees. Due to the recent concerns of the coronavirus, ProClean is following the latest Center for Disease Control CDC guidelines and taking additional steps to prevent the spread of this virus. Our technicians disinfect their hands before, during and after every job. The tools that are used are disinfected after every job and the entire cleaning unit and all related equipment is disinfected at the end of every day’s conclusion with one of the strongest EPA-approved hospital grade disinfectant on the market today.
I want to assure our clients and the public that ProClean Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning is doing its part to help rid us of this horrible threat. But we have always been involved in these kinds of threats. Whether it be from black mold, asbestos, blood-borne diseases such as HIV or hepatitis, we combat these threats every day. Safely removing health threats from our living environment is ProCleans mission, and our staff is well trained and up to the task.
So, stay calm and stay vigilant and this will pass, and if you have any concerns or questions please don't hesitate to call.
