Good Morning,

I have been closely watching research from Tuffs University and the FDA on dog foods and heart disease.

I knew grain free was a bad idea when it hit the markets. Contrary to advertising, dogs do eat plant source nutrition in the wild. Stomach contents of any kill (usually mice, rabbits, etc.) are first devoured.

Here is the latest findings from FDA:

If you would like more info on this topic, please email me at [email protected]

Be safe, Sue

Since the first warnings about canine heart failure possibly associated with grain-free pet foods, scientists are still trying to figure out the cause.

RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT
I have two items of happy news to share…
First August 2020 marks my 45th anniversary as a dog trainer! And I am retiring!!!

Second, I am welcoming Jenny Mercer as a partner into Paw Paws Canine College & Kennel, LLC. Jenny will be taking over the training program. I will continue to consult and advise in all the dog training and run the boarding operation here at Paw Paws.
Jenny has been apprenticing here for almost two years and I am confident she will take the training program to a new level of excellence. Jenny has a BS degree in Animal Science and Forestry & Wildlife as well as a Master’s degree in Education from Virginia Tech. Because she has extensive experience in teaching people, not only is Jenny an excellent dog trainer, she is great at teaching people how to handle their dogs after training.

We are happy to continue to support your dog training and boarding needs. Please drop us a line and let us how we can be of service in the future.

Be safe and stay well!

Sincerely,
Sue Clauss

P.S. We have two orphans looking for forever homes…

Meet Ditto Digby, fondly known as “Diggy.” 7 to 8-year-old neutered male Corgi mix. Found stray. Had been hit by car or kicked in face resulting in permanent, cute head c**k and missing front teeth but no deterrent to his appetite or health! Good with all humans and small animals (chickens, rabbits, etc.) Diggy will be very devoted to his chosen one. Vaccinated, neutered and in school but already comes when called off leash and is well mannered.

And Ranger. 4-year-old, male, Siberian Husky. An orphan looking for his forever home. Sue and Jenny saved me from a terrible neglect situation. I have been healed back to good health with good food and loving hands. I am up to date on all of my vaccinations. I have been neutered. And I have passed my training program with flying colors. I am very loving and gentle and ready to meet my forever family. I will need a home with a large fenced yard so I can get plenty of exercise. I used to live on a 4 ft chain.

Hello Everyone,
I hope this finds you well.
We have had to close the kennel in accordance with governor's order for nonessential businesses. We will re-open when "house arrest" is lifted.
Be safe, Sue and jenny and Peanut too!

For all 2020 clients, we are extending the amount of time you have to get in the follow up lessons in your contract to double the original timeframe. So if you have 3 months, you now have 6 months. We want everyone to stay well. Remember, you can always call or email if you have training questions.
