Rickie the Golden girl!! 💜
I came to help Rickie’s owners get her calmed down when new guests arrived at their home and also to help with her leash reaction towards other dogs. 🐶

Rickie is a sweet heart of a dog but she gets so excited when the family comes over she ends up accidentally knocking the kids down or won’t leave their personal space.

The owners had their grandchildren and grown children to come over during our session to help with her hyperactivity when they walked in.
Everyone was very happy with the “new” Rickie as I taught them how to control the entry and teach her to lay down and stay to decompress for a bit while the kids played 💕 First time the kiddo’s got to enjoy their grandparents house with out having to put Rickie up in another room of the house!

We also went out for a walk as Rickie would go crazy when she saw another dog, making it hard to walk her at all. We passed by a few dogs and Rickie did wonderful after I taught them how to stop her from escalating into the explosive reaction she would normally have if she saw a dog. 🥰
We also had time to get her on the treadmill for some much needed treadmill therapy for the mind! 🐕

I had a great time with you guys!! Thank you for having me to your home to help 🤗

Zeke (Chihuahua/Pug) and Atlas (BorderColie)!!! 🥰

I came to help the owners of Zeke and Atlas stop Zeke’s incessant barking. He barked at people entering the home, passerby’s and also on the walk. Zeke was also guarding his Mama’s space and being reactive if her roomate came to close at nighttime.

The two owners moved into together and since then Zeke’s barking behaviors have started to transfer over to Atlas now also.

Zeke was especially bad at the door when company came into the house. I taught the owners how to take control at the doorway and teach Zeke to be more social to company, instead of backing up and barking at them.
Zeke and Atlas both have some leash reaction to work on as well. It was way too hot 🥵 the day I came to work outside in the heat so I am meeting them on the Monon Trail soon so we can knock out their barking at other dogs while walking! Can’t wait! 💜

Darcy the Scottie!! 💜 🐶
I came to help Darcy’s Mom out with her pulling to animals and people during walks.

We got to stop and enjoy the lake with a ton of geese hanging out nearby after I taught her how to control Darcy’s pulling!

A good day for Darcy’s mama! 💕

BUTTER!!! 🥰
I worked with Butter awhile back because he would grab humans food off the ground during walks (especially during the state fair time of year) and he would resource guard it from him Mom. We nipped that behavior in the bud really quickly so his Mom could walk him without worrying he could get something bad for him(aka. turkey and chicken bones) she couldn’t take back.

I got to see Butter again over this past winter also! I had a fun visit to Butter’s local vet to help aid in how to deal with him best because he would growl and lunge at the vet during his exams. I saw it was a fear response that Butter was giving, plus the added tension of having nervous mom in the room made it tricky!

Butter’s Mom was so committed though! I showed her a simple way to train Butter to love his muzzle, so he could wear it to the vet with out any negative association.
Butter’s mom went above and beyond with the muzzle training that Butter now absolutely LOVES his muzzle now and will happily go to the vet now and let them get the exam done with out worry of bites!

Getting the great update from Butter’s mom about his recent successful trip to see the vet made me so happy!

Shout out to Daisy Lane Veterinary Clinic!! They are amazing with your pets and also truly care about what you’re asking about behaviors and seeks to find someone who can help you! They go above and beyond for the animals in their care! 🥰😇

All dogs can learn new ways! Just takes a dedicated loving owner by their side 💜🥰

Dog Training

Hello and welcome! I’m so glad you found my page. My name is Marci Burk and I’m considered a dog behaviorist. That means I focus on the reason things started going wrong with your dog and I address that issue. Most times, the issue isn’t the dog itself, but bad behaviors that were taught to the dog inadvertently by its owners (whether past or present.) Don’t attach any negativity to that last sentence. This isn’t a blame game. From here forward, it’s all about what we can do to bring your dog to a healthy state of mind so you, the pet family, can find some much needed peace. A session with me is typically between 2-4 hours where I get to know the family, hear the dog’s story, observe the dog’s behavior - and then the work starts. I want to be sure I’m clear with anyone wanting to work with me. Behavior modification requires consistent follow through, so if you can’t or won’t be able to follow through, my services are probably not the best fit. If you’ve made it this far, please reach out and I’ll get you booked for a session! Most behavioral issues are resolved (if follow through happens on your part) in just one session. I look forward to working with you! I’ve listed the issues I can help resolve with your dog or dogs below:

  • Puppy Training (STRONGLY encouraged for anyone bringing a puppy home so we can prevent the issues below)

  • Digging

  • Anxiety
