Who is their vet: Silver Maple Vet (Kutztown, PA)
How long have you had this pet: October 27, 2023 til present
Where did you get him: rehome from a local couple who where in over their heads
Location: we are located in Mertztown, PA
What will he come with: we will provide his crate, some of current food and treats for transition, collar and toys
Is this an emergency rehoming: yes
How long do you have to rehome this pet: we will keep him here until a suitable home is found, pending any change to current circumstances
Reason for rehoming:
This upsets me beyond words to compose this. My husband and I have two GSPs — Happy (7) and Yogi (4) — and in October, welcomed another GSP — Marvin (1) — into our family since he needed to be rehomed. Unfortunately, Happy and Marvin have gotten into several fights, resulting in some injuries to each other; and likewise, my husband and I have both sustained injuries and bites, during the processes of trying to break up the fights. Happy and Yogi get along, Yogi and Marvin get along. Considering the events, we do not believe it is safe for Happy and Marvin to live together. We realize that when the two of them disagree, neither wants to back off.
Any behavioral concerns:
We realize Marvin has some behavioral issues, aside from the fighting with Happy. Marvin likes to ‘look for trouble’ and seek out boots or jackets or blankets or pillows. He has growled at times when we try to take such items away from him, but never bit us in those situations.
We never adopted him with any thoughts that he wouldn’t stay with us forever. But unfortunately, here we are.
Marvin is not always the aggressor in the fights between himself and Happy but we feel it is in his best interest to be an only dog in a household in order to avoid needing to be rehomed yet again.
