To my wonderful clientele: I have made the decision to dissolve my in-home overnight pet sitting services. I started pet sitting at 18 years old & have had the pleasure of meeting so many new clients in the Richmond area over the past 13 years. I will be continuing cat sitting services, ‘bathroom’ breaks, feeding/letting out, but will no longer be staying in client’s homes overnight. I do still have references if in-home overnights are requested. Thank you for your understanding.

🚨 URGENT: Asheville Humane Society needs our help! 🚨

The catastrophic damage from Hurricane Helene has overwhelmed the Asheville Humane Society, and countless animals are in desperate need of safety. We’re partnering with BISSELL Pet Foundation to rescue as many pets as possible, but we can’t do it without your help!

We need emergency fosters to help us take in these animals! If you’ve never fostered before, that’s okay! Fostering is completely free—Forsyth Humane Society will provide you with all of the supplies you might need to help care for one of these animals. Every foster home we can secure is another life we can save! 🐾❤️

If you can step up to help us out, please email [email protected] with the subject line “Hurricane Helene Foster”, or check forsythhumane.org/foster for incoming animals. THANK YOU for your willingness to help and your dedication to animals in need. Please share this post to help us reach as many fosters as possible!

Meet Lizzy

Lizzy is a Welsh Corgi, only 5 years old. She has the cutest wiggle butt. Lizzy is a small Corgi weighing 20 pounds. She could lose a little weight. She was born December 24, 2018. She has been living with a mini Pomeranian and they are best friends. She is an active small dog that could easily trip a small child or elderly person. I would call her a trip hazard. She seems to do well with other dogs but has not been around cats. She is house trained and is learning to walk on a leash.

Lizzy's adoption fee is $200, which includes her being medically up to date. Her owner passed and no family member could take her, so she is hoping to get a forever home soon. Lizzy has been dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated, is on heartworm preventatives and flea/tick preventative.

For more information, please visit our website at www.bhsva.org to fill out an adoption application.

URGENT! Owner passed away!! Please share!!!

Zilla, once adored by his owner, now finds his future unsure. His owner passed away in April and the relative that’s been caring for him is also a senior and cannot continue his care on a permanent bases. His vet paper lists Belgian Malinois Mix and he weighs 70 lbs. He’s about 20 inches in height and approximately 6 years old.

Zilla has had two previous owners- both passed away. He's highly intelligent and loyal. He would bring his owner his shoes one at a time, the remote, and his leash when commanded. Just the other night he picked up paper plate for his elderly caretaker. He doesn't bother the trash can with food in it, and is just a generally well mannered fellow.

When his owners health allowed, he took Zilla on frequent outings to Tractor Supply, Walmart , Etc where he enjoyed meeting new people. He sometimes barks at other dogs so we aren’t sure how he would do in a multi dog household. He also tries to chase cats so we are seeking a feline free household.

Zilla is neutered, chipped, and his rabies vaccination is current. He is generally a mellow guy and is used to being indoors. he is a big snuggle bug and would enjoy long rainy Saturdays watching Netflix. Unfortunately, with his owners passing he has no where to go. All his surviving relatives have kitties and they are heartbroken not to have any good options available for Zilla.

We hope the right family stumbles across Zilla’s face and falls in love.

UPDATE!!
Meatball has left the building!!🔊
That’s right!! We found him a true unicorn adopter. Someone who will understand his quirks and work with him. We are hoping for some happy updates and can’t wait to see what a good buddy Meatball can be. Today is his very first day at a new life. Today is day 1 of peace, relaxation, decompression, and happiness.
Every single person who shared this post played a huge part in saving Meatball. This wouldn’t have been possible without each and every one of you. Thank you!

By now, we are sure all of our followers know the face of Meatball. He’s been posted many times over the past year he’s been with us.

Here is the brutally honest truth:

Meatball’s future isn’t promised. He isn’t getting adopted. Many people walk by him and comment on how adorable he is and how he has such a sad puppy face. Those are the last words he hears before they walk away with a dog from another kennel. Meatball has watched many dogs come and go. We have cleared out kennels and he will always be the last one sitting and waiting in the silence. Lately, Meatball has become like a robot. He paces the front of his outdoor kennel every day. Back and forth as he stares in the abyss. He no longer makes eye contact with us or seems interested by anything. He zones out and paces. Mentally, he has clocked out. The only excitement he gets is barking at the other dogs and occasionally catching a lizard. When we take Meatball out of his indoor kennel, he walks straight to his outdoor kennel and immediately starts pacing. He has a routine he is stuck in and can’t escape.

We need to find an adopter for Meatball. This is truthfully his last hope. We can’t watch him continue on in this way any longer. It’s not fair to keep him living like a robot. It’s becoming harder and harder for us to watch.

We know this is hard to hear but we want to be open and honest. Meatball deserves a chance at happiness and a new life. We are hoping this post finds that for him but our hopes aren’t high. 😪

Here’s some things to know about Meatball:
1. He really should be the only pet in the home.
2. He is a very hard treat taker and will take your fingers off so all treats must be dropped on the floor.
3. He has been trained to sit and wait when being leashed. Otherwise, he will take the leash and play tug of war. PS: you won’t win.
4. He gives very sweet and gentle hugs.
5. He needs a strong handler and someone who can be comfortable continuing training and commands with him.
6. He is vaccinated, neutered, and around 6-7 years old. He is HW+ and on the slow kill treatment.

We know Meatball is a hard sell. He wasn’t always this way but after spending almost 365 days in a kennel, he’s succumbed to the stress.

We took Meatball from a cruel situation in hopes of giving him a better life. Unfortunately, he may never get to see what a good life can be.

We know this post is sad but it’s a last attempt at finding Meatball a home.

Please share this for Meatball. Anyone who wants to meet him and hopefully adopt him can do so by calling 804-966-9500.
