📣Pet Wants Fam – I Need Your Help! 🐾💕

We're looking to add an additional groomer to our team, and I've had amazing luck finding all of my fabulous employees through referrals and this awesome community and my very own customers! So, I’m reaching out to see if we can keep that streak going. 🙌

We operate with a unique approach of grooming one dog at a time to help reduce anxiety, so I’m looking for a groomer who can be flexible with their hours based off our current groomer's full-time schedule.

Specifically, I need someone who can work Saturdays (a must ✔️), some Sundays and some evenings from 3 pm - 7 pm on Monday, Wednesday, and/or Friday 🌙.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience doing full grooms (Note: we're not looking for a bather).

If you or someone you know might be a good fit, please reach out to me directly at [email protected] 📧.

Perks of working with us:

Store discounts on products & services 🛍️
Flexible hours/schedule- Make your own schedule ⏰
Build your own clientele
Calm, one-on-one grooming environment 🐕
Commission-based role 💵
No crating – we only do one dog at a time!

Please share this post if you can – I’d love to find the right person to grow with us! 📲

Thanks everyone & happy Saturday!

🥶 It's super cold outside, and that means your pups aren't getting their usual exercise. Is your dog acting out more than usual—barking, whining, or getting into trouble? They’re probably bored! Just like us, dogs need an outlet for their energy. Without physical activity, they can become restless. 🐾

Here are a few tips to help keep their brains and bodies engaged while staying warm indoors⬇️

▪️Puzzle Toys & Treat Dispensers: These toys challenge your dog to figure out how to get the treat out. It’s a fun way to engage their brain and reward them with a tasty snack!

▪️Hide & Seek: Hide your dog’s favorite toy or a treat somewhere in the house and encourage them to find it. This taps into their natural scenting abilities and keeps them busy.

▪️Training Sessions: Use this time to teach your dog new tricks or reinforce old ones. Training provides mental stimulation and strengthens your bond!

▪️Interactive Games: Play games like tug-of-war or fetch in a hallway or large room. You can also try “Find the Toy,” where you hide a toy and ask your dog to find it.

▪️Nose Work Games: Hide treats around the house and encourage your dog to use their nose to find them. This can be a great outlet for their energy and helps satisfy their natural sniffing instincts.

▪️Interactive Feeding: If your dog typically eats from a bowl, try using a slow feeder or scatter their food around the house to make them work for their meals. This taps into their natural foraging instincts!

▪️Last, but certainly not least, our personal favorite💚: the Pupsicle! (Pictured in this post). You can fill it with your own frozen recipes using a treat tray, or use the pre-made Pupsicle refills. Either way, it’s a great way to keep your dog busy and mentally engaged as they work and lick their way through the tasty treat inside. Perfect for satisfying their natural instincts and keeping them entertained!

Keeping your pup’s mind busy is just as important as physical exercise, so give these tips a try and help your dog beat the boredom! 🧠🐾

Hey Pet Wants fam! 🐾 I don’t always enjoy sharing full details like this, but I’m working on being more open in 2025 and showing not just the business side of things, but also a little more about my life and Evan’s too (& of course Augie & Callie🐶). So, here's a quick update to explain why I’ve been a bit quiet on our social media lately (P.S. - I miss you all)!

First off, life’s been pretty hectic, and as a small business owner, I’m juggling a million things—store stuff, social media, deliveries, events… you name it! On top of that, I’ve had a ton of doctor’s appointments recently. It’s been a lot, and unfortunately, social media had to take a bit of a backseat.

Now, here’s something I feel is important to share. Over Thanksgiving weekend, I got a pretty nasty dog bite to my index finger (of course, it was my dominant hand!). I went to the ER, got cleaned up, and got a few stitches. The doctors warned me about the potential for infection, but I didn’t think much of it since I was on antibiotics and being super cautious.

But after the stitches came out a few weeks later, I was still having trouble moving my finger and the swelling just wouldn’t go down after a month. So, after Christmas, I went to urgent care to make sure nothing was broken. After a quick X-ray, they sent me to the ER for an MRI and blood work, concerned about a possible bone infection. The MRI didn’t show anything obvious, but I was put on stronger antibiotics and referred to a hand surgeon.

Fast forward a few more visits to specialists and finally an infectious disease doctor, and I was diagnosed with a bone infection from the bacteria in the bite. So, I’m now on another long round of antibiotics and started occupational therapy to help get my finger moving again. The good news is that surgery and IV antibiotics haven’t been necessary—yet—but it’s definitely been a slow recovery. Fingers crossed 🤞things keep moving in the right direction!

I’m sharing this because dog and cat bites are serious—even small ones. Please, if you get bitten, no matter how minor it seems, go to the doctor to get it cleaned and treated. The bacteria in animal mouths can cause some pretty serious damage. For me, it was just bad luck—no matter how clean I kept it, the bacteria still made its way to the bone. The key takeaway is that the earlier you seek treatment, the better!

Also, if you’re ever trying to break up a dog fight, don’t do what I did! I made the mistake of putting my hand in between them, and got bit during a freak accident. The dog wasn’t being aggressive and didn’t mean to bite me—it was just one of those things that can happen to anyone.

I’m incredibly grateful for my Pet Wants Naperville team—Greg and Des—who’ve been absolute rockstars, stepping in when I couldn’t be there. Thank you both for making my life easier with one less thing to worry about and helping the business run smoothly!

So, just a little PSA from me: be careful out there and take care of yourselves (and your pets!). Thank you all so much for your support as I get back on track! 💖🐕🐈

If you’ve made it this far—P.S. If you see me doing funky hand exercises in the store, that’s why! Also, my OT asked me to have everyone in my life yell at me if they see me sticking my finger out and pointing at them with my "bad" finger. Gotta keep it bending & keep me aware! HA! 😆

🎉🐾 Just like the 4th of July, New Year’s Eve celebrations and fireworks can be stressful for our pets. The loud noises and bright lights can make them anxious, but with a little preparation, we can keep them safe and calm! Here are a few tips:

1. Create a cozy space: Set up a quiet, comfy spot away from the noise and fireworks.
2. Play calming music: Soft tunes can help drown out loud sounds.
3. Stick to routines: Keep feeding and walking schedules the same to provide comfort.
4. Stay calm: Pets can sense our anxiety, so staying relaxed helps them feel safe
5. Utilize CBD for pets or other calming supplements

Let’s ring in the New Year with love and care for our pets! 🐾💖🍾

A few weekends ago, we had the pleasure of hosting our 2nd Annual Santa Paws 🎅🐾 event at the store, and I wanted to share this reel on Christmas Day to express just how much we appreciate each and every one of our customers!

You all, both those featured in this video and those who couldn’t make it, are the reason we do what we do. You and your furry babes🐶🐱 are what inspire us and keep smiles on our faces.

We were especially excited to partner with Adopt A Husky rescue for the afternoon to help find these 2 beauties their fur-ever homes! It was so special seeing so many of you come together to support these adorable pups, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to spread some holiday magic ✨

We truly love hosting these events and celebrating milestones and holidays with all of you. This is just a small glimpse of the festive spirit that filled the day!

Merry Christmas to you, your fur babies, and your families! We hope you enjoy this special day, and we can’t wait to see you in the New Year! 🎄

❤️💚
With love,
The Pet Wants Fam!
