PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure your groomer is ONLY using the first picture on your double coated dogs during their “deshed” process. The 2nd and 3rd picture should NEVER be used on a double coated dog, or any “furminator”, unless there is a matt they can’t get out. That tool will RUIN your dogs under coat. It cuts the hair instead of raking out the under coat.
No I do not have a “deshed” process here. ALL dogs in my care essentially get that in their groom. All dogs should be bathed, blown out and brushed anyways which is why I do not upcharge for a “deshed”, only upcharge for matting.
Double coated dogs should not have ANY kind of hair cut besides sanitary and silhouette. Giving a double coated dog a haircut does not make them cooler, even if you think it does, it takes their insulation away which helps regulate their temperature in each season. This ruins their undercoat, most of the time permanently.
