After a couple years of an off-the-grid hiatus, I'm glad to plug back into the online horse community. We've spent these years developing our ranch and I hope you'll enjoy the journey of where I am in my life and seeing what's next for DJHS.

In the mean time, here are two horses offered for sale. Knabstruppers are known to be some of the rarest breed of horse in the world. I had the pleasure of putting these five-year-old gelding brothers under saddle and since then, I have furthered their training and now give lessons on them. Harry Potter is the dark bay leopard blanketed "Knab." Phrost is the chestnut blanketed Knabstrupper. Feel free to PM for details. They have progressed consistently. All medical vaccinations and dental are up to date.

Following the success of the Knabstrupper Keuring for Phi, my schedule has become a little less rigorous and I now have some availability for new clients. If you (or someone you know) has a horse who needs some work, please message or call for a free assessment. And as always, jumper and dressage prospects greatly welcome!

Congratulations to Jessi True for her Knabstrupper stallion, Phidelis av Drömmarna, receiving his lifetime breeding license in today’s registration keuring! This would not have been possible without the support of Denise Nelson-Finster (DAAN Sport Horses), Diane Truxillo (breeder, aka mama), and the fantastic grooming of Matt Frost. For the past seven months, we have been working to prepare Phi and I am thrilled with today’s success and high marks from the judges—pictures and more to come!

I met Bill a few years ago as mutual boarders with Cynthia Johnson at JC Quarter Horses, and in the beginning of our friendship, Bill was quiet and focused. As I spent more time with Bill, I found he was going through a difficult time with both the loss of a family member and his horse. When Cynthia sold JC Quarter Horses (now Big Little Horse) to Jessica, Bill adopted a seven-year-old Kiger Mustang named Jericho.

Not long before Jessica took over Big Little Horse, we bought a piece of property and moved our horses home. Through these transitions, Bill and I remained friends, and as I got to know Bill better, I learned that he’s the president of the San Diego chapter of Messengers (a sobriety-based MC), has been sober for eleven years, and that his relationship with horses isn’t just a hobby, but a therapeutic outlet for him as well.

Bill’s new horse had been started, but had developed some bad habits, so in early July, I started helping to finish his under-saddle training. We are pleased with Jericho’s progress and are excited to see how he continues to move forward—stay tuned for updates on Bill and Jericho’s story!

Hello all! Starting today, we are excited to announce the launch of David Johnson Horse Services!

It’s been a long journey to establish ourselves in San Diego and we’re far from done: our goal is to create a destination in Jamul that will feel like home to everyone who is a part of our equestrian family.

Our plan is to be ready to host and offer boarding by the start of 2020, but until then, David is thrilled to offer offsite training and lessons. Taught by some of the greats in Southern California, David is a seasoned, passionate horseman with a wide skill set, specializing in show-jumping.

Follow us as we grow our ranch and equestrian facility! We’ll frequently update with photos, videos, and various content so you can stay posted on the progress of both our ranch and our horses in training.
