🚨🌞 Protect Your Frenchies: Beat the Heat! 🌞🚨

Attention all French Bulldog parents! As temperatures rise, so do the risks of overheating for our beloved furry friends. 🐾❗️ Frenchies, with their adorable smushy faces, are more susceptible to heat-related issues due to their brachycephalic (short-nosed) nature.

Here's what you need to know to keep your Frenchies safe and cool during the warmer months:

1️⃣ Limit Outdoor Time: Avoid strenuous exercise and prolonged outdoor activities, especially during peak heat hours. Opt for walks and playtime in the early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler.

2️⃣ Hydration is Key: Always provide access to fresh, cool water to keep your Frenchies hydrated. Consider adding ice cubes to their water bowl or investing in a pet fountain to encourage drinking.

3️⃣ Shade and Shelter: Create shady spots in your yard or provide access to air-conditioned indoor areas where your Frenchies can retreat to escape the heat.

4️⃣ Never Leave in Hot Cars: Even with windows cracked, cars can quickly become ovens in the sun. Never leave your Frenchies unattended in a parked car, even for a short period.

5️⃣ Watch for Signs of Overheating: Be vigilant for symptoms like excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, and difficulty breathing. If you suspect your Frenchie is overheating, move them to a cool place, offer water, and seek veterinary care if symptoms persist.

Keep your bulldog safe this summer! Summertime if for sun and fun but bulldogs aren't used to extreme heat, so take precautions with your fur babies. Limit outdoor time, provide a cool indoor space, and keep fresh water available. Know what to do if your dog starts to show signs of overheating. If your dog exhibits a 'roaring' pant or shows signs of heat distress, immediately cool them with cooling pad or cold water (not ice water!). If symptoms persist, take them to the nearest vet immediately. Stay observant, stay safe.

This summer and every summer, take special care to protect your bulldog! While your bulldog may love the outdoors, summer temperatures and weather can be fatal to them. 9 years ago, this guy was born on a farm in middle of nowhere Kansas. 6 months later, we would get him and he would totally changed our life for the better. Because of him, we went from a no dog household into the happy clan of bulldogs that we have now. Thankful that he’s 9 years old, healthy, and still gets to run around and play with the other pups .
