I'm very excited to share my new Northwoods (based out of Manitowish Waters) venture - Abbie's Woodland Wags! If you've met me, there's a good chance you've also met one of my dogs - or at least seen a dozen photos of them. My dogs are my world, so I understand the importance of the care they receive while you're at work, on vacation, or enjoying a late dinner with friends.

2 of my current dogs are seniors, and I have experience working in a vet office- so I am knowledgeable with senior care, basic first aid, knowing signs of illness, and administering medications.

A few of the services I'm starting with include, but aren't limited to:
- Pet Check-ins
- Dog Walking
- Nail Care
- Bathing
- Cat Care
- Farm Sitting

A friendly heads up!! Canine Evolution will be running EVEN MORE classes this summer!!

We will have obedience based classes (puppy, beginning manners, and intermediate manners) available, as well as a few fun ones!

We do cut off the number of dogs in each class and already have quite a few pups signed up for some of our first sessions of obedience based classes. DM me if you’d like to add your name!😉

Recommendations can be given if you are unsure what class would be best for you and your pup!

Spring Training is underway for Belle!!

During the winter months, we VERY rarely walk in a structured heel. Belle is usually cross country skiing, snowshoeing or running around on the frozen lake….all great but ALL are without a heel command.

Here you can see her getting a little ahead of me, then checking in, and trying (key word is TRYING😅) to slow her pace to match mine. Once the “good girl” praise is given, you see her excitedly inch ahead a little bit and then correct herself. And then she finishes this training sequence up with a great sit!👏🏻

Give it up for Belle! Go tackle some spring training of your own!🌸

Beau is showing off for us today with his herding ball! This a PERFECT example of dogs having natural instincts. As owners we owe it to our pups to let them explore these natural drives (within reason) and just be dogs! A huge shoutout to Beau’s family for letting him cut loose!🐾🐶

👏🏻Off Leash Practice!👏🏻 We want everyone to give this exercise a try this week! Below you will find some variations you can make to ensure your pups success! - Add a leash if you are not comfortable with your dog off leash at this point. This will allow you to not only keep them safe but also give them guidance if they get confused. - Say “come” and pat your leg, instead of a heel command. We do not always teach our Canine Evolution pups what “heel” is we just teach two different versions of “come”. They will begin to understand the difference between “come be in my bubble” and “come walk with me respectfully” the more you practice. A leash will be very helpful if this is a new concept for your pup. - Take a step out of this exercise and just have your dog sit when they get to you. This will help create a strong foundation before you move on to implementing the “heel” or “come” command. Let us know how it goes!!🐶🐾

So unbelievably proud of our Beginning Manners Class! This is our group “place” command session from last week….notice there is not one dog moving from their “place”! Keep it up class!!🐶♥️

Kayn’s new favorite exercise….biking!🚲 With lots of caution and practice, biking can be a GREAT exercise for both you and your pup!!

Chunk was KILLING it with his place work this morning! Although it may not look it, he definitely enjoyed his time training today!♥️🐾

The power of a calm mindset, doing place since 8 weeks old, and most importantly an AMAZING breeder! Huge shoutout to Chris Warner Harris at Patriot Labs! Exposure is key to creating a well balanced pup (along with good genetics!) and Belle thankfully was exposed to many things right from the start. Many other exercises and tests were done to ensure Belle was the best version of herself which, good news, is all over Patriot Labrador Retrievers page so you can learn more about the process Chris takes to develop some unbelievably amazing dogs! Please, please, please, do your research when looking for a new puppy. There are breeders out there who are more concerned with the money over the well-being of their dogs and that situation does NOT end well for anyone. We HIGHLY recommend comparing the breeder you are looking at with Patriot Labs…they are the standard ALL breeders should be held to.

We’ve all seen our dogs shake off when they get out of the water or at the end of a bath….but have you ever seen your dog shake off after a stressful interaction or intense play session?? Unlike when they encounter water and are trying to dry off, a shake off after a stressful interaction or intense play session has nothing to do with them getting something off their body. It’s their way of “shaking off” all of the intense feelings they’ve just navigated…..much like when humans take a deep breath out after a stressful situation! In this video, Belle and Kayn were just wrapping up a pretty rough play session (which unfortunately was not all caught on camera) and then they both went their respective ways and shook off the whole interaction. For Kayn, this is HUGE because when he does actually play with a dog he tends to struggle toning it down and usually has to be called away from the situation versus just walking away and shaking it off. If you are ever interested in learning more about what your dog is “saying” don’t hesitate to ask us….we’d love to help you understand dog language!!🐾

This pretty much sums up Theodore’s recall (“come” command)….starts strong but never seems to make it to the finish line. No, he was not that hungry!🙄

The view at our class tonight was ALMOST better then the new things we learned!🐾😉

Yesterday our Canine Evolution Pack killed it with their group place and loose-leash walk!! We are so proud to see everyone working so hard!🐾❤️
