Not much seems to phase this crew. Not even the barking in the background.
It has been crazy humid hot this week in Ohio. These muggy 95° days are hard on puppies. So on the real hot days we will get up early and go outside for recess to get some outside fun time in before it gets too hot. We will then spend the day in our indoor play area in the good ol air conditioning 🤪 working on our puppy curriculum, crate training and potty training. Once it cools back down in the late evening, we are back outside playing and enjoying their favorite spots.
Lol, of course they are spoiled air conditioning babies. I mean, what did you expect! 🤣

Crate training like a BOSS!!!
This group is so (do I dare say it)….. EASY!!!
We recently started “closed-door” crate training. This is where we ease them into staying in their crates for a certain amount of time with the door closed. Right now, they are taking their midday naps with their crate doors closed for about 2 hrs, and no potty accidents. No whining, no crying, just pure absolute peace. Yesterday, they happily slept for 3 hrs in their crates with no potty accidents. Talk about a win! I had to go in and physically wake them all up.
So when I said they actually prefer their crate, It’s True!
They will happily pile in on their own and take their little naps throughout the day. I will play loud music, make loud annoying sounds, run the vacuum, just general life in our home along with all the mama dogs running around, and nothing phases them. Their indoor play area and crate training setup is right in our kitchen/living room space. We have an open floor plan home, so nothing gets missed.
Today, when it was time for their long midday nap, I went in to open their crate doors, and some of them got up from their floor nap and started walking right in looking up at me as if saying, “thank goodness lady, about time”….
In the background, you hear “frog sounds”. I’ll start playing this sound when nap time is near. This lets them know it’s time to settle down and get ready for their nap. Something as simple as getting in a routine of playing a certain sound will prepare your puppy for what is about to happen. This simple repetitive action lets the puppies know what is expected of them.
You can play any sound as your marker, just as long as you make it part of your baby’s routine.
We ask Alexa to play “Frog Sounds” for all naps and at night before bed. I don’t know what it is about this particular sound, but it works like a charm.

Embracing proper crate training = Responsible pet owners
We want our puppies to have the best start in life and develop a positive experience with proper crate training. Crates are actually a safe place where your pup can truly relax and enjoy play with their favorite toys. It creates a bond of trust with your dog and allows them to feel comfortable enough to get the real rest they need in a safe environment. Placing a dog in a crate is not a form of punishment, it is a safe place much like a crib or playpen for a toddler. It gives the puppy a sense of safety and security. Dogs are naturally den dwelling animals and they seek a safe cozy spot that they can call their very own.
If your ever need to take your pup to the vet for an over night stay, groomer or boarding facility for example, having your pup already familiar with a create makes their time away from home less stressful for both them and you.
I know I’ve said this before but, if you wouldn’t let your toddler run free around your home unsupervised while you are gone. Why would you allow your puppy?

Can you believe how much they have changed in only a couple of days! They are growing so fast now! This crew is off and running.
No more baby space for them, they have graduated to their new toddler area and started puppy mush.. They are progressing so well and fast in their development. At this phase we will slowly introduce new sounds, textures and toys with unpredictability to build their confidence, muscle strength and help further their mental stimulation. If done too soon they can become fearful, if done too late, you guessed it fearful. That’s why it is so important to work with a breeder that follows a strong curriculum and understands puppy development.
If you listen closely they’re listening to “doorbells” and “knocking at the door” in the background while eating. Normally we would have the volume all the way up but in this case I turned it down for the video. We like to focus on a positive effect (eating yummy new food) while working on desensitizing to negative effects, sounds or movement that could be fearful. This puts a positive association on what could be a negative or quite scary event. If you continue to practicice desensitizing your new puppy once they go home this will create a calmer more relaxed pup in what could be a very stressful environment.
Example - just ridding in the car while you are running errands is great exposure and a good example of desensitizing and socializing all at the same time while done in a safe environment. Loud sounds, fast moving cars, people, unpredictable movement everywhere and so much more.

Potty training is in full force around here….
It’s very important to establish boundaries and expectations for our young puppies. Even at this young age they are looking for direction and will happily soak it all in like a sponge. We focus a lot on potty training to ensure each of our puppies go home with a strong understating and great foundation started. Consistency and keeping the area small is key. I cannot say that enough. Once they understand what is expected of them you can slowly expand their area and allow your new puppy more freedom in your home. Remember, they have to earn more freedom. You would not let your toddler run free all over your home, why would you allow your new puppy.
If you continue with this concept along with crate training, once you get your new puppy home potty training will be a breeze.

I love me some happy babies…
Hard to believe they will all be heading home in just 3 days. It feels like the last 8weeks have went by so fast. The one thing I can say about this litter is, man they sure are happy. From the moment they opened their eyes and started to walk, they have been all smiles and happy days. One of the happiest groups we have ever had. I find myself on repeat and saying it weekly, “Look at how happy they are! They are such a happy bunch of babies!”.
I am defiantly going to miss this rotten bunch of fluffy chicky nuggets. 🥰🥹

❤️ I had to get on here and brag a little about how fast these babies are learning the new potty rules.. Can you believe it! They are only 4 weeks old!
It only took a couple of days showing them that a certain area is for potty and the rest is for play. We will continue this practice as they age building a great foundation for potty training.
With a good foundation already laid, helping the babies understand and know what is expected of them, this makes house training so much easier and faster for their new parents.
Who doesn’t love that!!!!

And the babies are all on the move now…
I cant get over how much they have changed in only a couple of days. This group so far is one of the happiest bunch of babies. They are all so lovey and eager to pass out all their sweet puppy kisses. I love to poke my face in their little puppy door. They will all come running to be the first to fill my face full of baby kisses. So many tongues at one time! 😆
This weekend we will change their baby space over to a fun toddler space filled with lots of different toys to play with, new textures to feel, fun things to climb over and lots of new sounds to introduce them to. We will also give them their first taste of puppy mush and get them use to their potty trays starting the first phase of location potty training.
This is a big weekend full of so many new changes for the little ones.
