Love at first sight? I'm a skeptic... Lightening striking twice? Nah, thats what I thought until I met Esther and Paul Rich. One day, over 50 years ago, Esther stepped onto a bus in Philadelphia and laid her eyes on the bus driver and I've been told there was some serious flirting going on between the two (talk about driver distractions!). Well Esther knew someone who knew Paul, the driver, and she sent her number to him. All of a sudden, wedding bells are ringing :).
But sadly life takes twists and turns and their marriage ended too soon. They had new family's and 30 years later after Esther lost her husband, she did a little FB stalking. (I know you're smiling!) Paul had also lost his wife and slowly they rekindled a friendship. After months of talking, they decided to meet in person and BAM! ⚡🌠🌈 lightening struck for the second time.
So, when Mr and Mrs Rich came walking thru my front door and headed straight for the dog pen and little Miss Rosie ran up to Paul and begged to be picked up, he took her, held her, and said, "She's the one". "But you haven't even looked at the others", I said.
"Nope, dont need to....She's the one".
BAM! ⚡ Love at first sight, Yep. Lightening striking twice, You bet!

Fri, Aug 28 was a double-lump in my throat and hold back the tears kind of day. As I drove to the bakery, I prayed again that my #1 Girl would have the right home. She was looked over when people came asking for a female. She was sturdy and strong like her Alpha brothers, Lucky and Dough-boy, but she had the sweet, peaceful old-soul nature of her little brother Brown. I recalled a time when puppies kissed my tears away and I knew she could be the perfect pair for Mr Clark Sr even tho it still made me sad. He wanted a companion, someone to walk with and talk with on his acres of land. You see he cared for his wife of 55 years and recently lost her to cancer. I guess I knew she'd have a special job from the start and thats why the nickname my #1 Girl brings special meaning. My prayers are with you Mr Clark and I'm so glad you and Molly Muffin are together!
But if Mollly is Ying, then Mr Cookie is Yang. My sweet little cookie monster would find his forever home with Bob Clark Jr, his wife Rebecca and their son. Mr Cookie was fun and sweet just like his name. He was always sure to bring a smile. And now the two pups would be driven up to 3 hours from the Bakers Dozen Den to their new homes. My fears dispersed as I saw the seats they would travel in. Please welcome Spritz who was named after a German Cookie, Mr. Spritz Pfeffernusse Cookie Clark. To both Mr Clark's, I think you picked the perfect pups!

Did you know that the Standard Poodle is German and despite the reputation they've been given as pampered pups, poodles come from a line of hard-working water retrievers. Well, Mr Dough-boy (White #12) is no different and he had a job - He was the Baker's Dozen Town Cryer. He called me to rise, he called me for their breakfast. He called because it was time to leave the pen for their romp around the yard, he called for more food and treats and even when it was time for more hugs. He was the megaphone for the crew and he did a pretty darn good job! Well Mr Dough-boy got a promotion yesterday! He is now the official keeper of Jen and Don's heart. You see, they recently lost their beloved Oliver and it's now Cooper Von Bethoven (aka Mr Dough-boy's) job to help heal their hearts. I know Cooper is up for the task and will do his best. I'm so glad Joy showed you the pups and you found your new little man! God bless and see you soon!

The clock was ticking way too fast! His new Momma would arrive shortly after her zoom meeting. My little old soul, Mr Tootsie Brown, would be off to meet his new family. I'm going to miss My little Mr Brown...who now has a new name, Konrad. The quiet and sometimes shy, 8th puppy who always gave kisses and whose eyes could pierce your soul. Watch this pup chase his new best friend and you'll know why missing the puppy breath and kisses is worth it. I love you Mr Tootsie Brown! Congratulations Melody. I'm so glad you have Konrad and he now has you!

Just when I was getting used to counting to 12, Mrs Tuck came knocking for her sweet little Sugar (Orange). I guess there's no preparing to send your sweet little girl off into the wide open spaces of Middletown but her new Momma is doting and super excited to have her home! Sugar curled up and went home with Carmen last night and found their dining room table to play under! Such a sweet new Momma and new home for the littlest Bakers Dozen! But I know we'll see each other again! Congrats Sugar and Carmen! Luv U!

It was a happy-sad Sunday at the Baker's Dozen....breakfast was the last time the whole BD crew would be together...but they had a blast these last 8 weeks preparing to be great family pets....Lucky #13 was the first to head off to his new world, a great adventure with a new name, new family and a big world to grow and love. I'm so happy Tim and Shaun found Lucky and Lucky found them! Also so glad he is around the corner and up the street from The Cake Sisters so I can see the handsome boy as he walks to the Post Office and grows to be the Big Man! Congratulations Augie Baker Carter-Grines (aka Lucky) as well as Tim, Shaun, Toby and all the kids! We love you!
