Solar eclipse & our pets:
After researching this topic & the risks to our pets this is what I found.
1. Dogs don't normally look up at the sun. They squint their eyes because in general the sun is uncomfortable for them. However, to be safe keep pets inside during the eclipse.
2. Taking pets with you to view the eclipse seems to be of the most concern to Vets. As our dogs react to our emotions they may become anxious. Also the crowds can stress dogs out as well as the darkness that comes from the eclipse can have an emotional effect on dogs such as storms, fireworks etc do with some dogs. Again the best thing for your pet is to keep them indoors, in their own home where they feel safe & comfortable.
3. DO NOT TRY TO PUT GLASSES ON YOUR DOG. MOST DOGS WILL TRY TO TAKE THEM OFF & THEY CAN STRESS OUT.

Happy Birthday America! Axxel wants to remind you that during all the celebrating we do this weekend please be careful. Fireworks can be dangerous & scary to dogs and children. If your children are frightened take them in the house, they will enjoy the fireworks when they are older. Make sure pets are secured inside so they don't get scared & bolt out the door. Play music, & do things to distract them to diffuse the fear. Happy 4th of July everyone!

Yeah! new York has passed a bill to ban the sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits in pet stores! They are waiting for it to be signed into Law! it's all to cut down on the puppy mills. Here's the link
