Group class at the 30th Annual Haddonfield Crafts & Fine Art Fesitval. 🎨
Thank you to @joegrazacting for allowing us to cool off and to also work in @miranosbarbershop 💈 💇♀️
Meet Alma!
She’s the cuuutest Border Terrier puppy that we have been working with for the past few weeks. She’s super smart, motivated, and a real pleasure to train. We’ve been working on walking properly, place, sit, and all the other behaviors that come with puppyhood.
Our annual Halloween Parade! 🎃 👻
Thank you to all of our clients who participated! 🧡
Trunk or Treat at Sterling High School was a blast!
Every year we bring out a group of dogs who have previously trained with us, or are in training, and allow hundreds of children and adults to interact with them. They’re all dressed up in costumes, and are always on their best behavior. And the dogs love it!
It is great exposure for the dogs, but it is also a great teaching tool for dog owners everywhere. We are able to show off what a well-trained dog/puppy is capable of doing.
We are here to help educate!
Our group had such a fun time, and our dogs got endless amounts of pets and snuggles. 🧡
Over a year ago, we started training Mikey, the Service dog, for a child named Matthew. Mikey is tasked to ground Matthew and provide a sense of security for their family.
Matthew has been practicing for a dance recital over the past few months. And of course, Mikey has been there to provide support for Matt and has even helped many of the other children involved.
So, yesterday was the big day. It was the day Matthew and Mikey had to go on stage in front of a large audience to perform.
And they did AMAZING!
It was so heartwarming to see the amount of independence this boy has gained since we began training Mikey. We are so happy we were able to go out and support this team. 🧩 💙
Service Dog Mikey. 🐕🦺
When we first met the Levin family, they had just rescued a doodle puppy, and had named him Micheal.
They had big goals for this puppy, and were unsure if they were obtainable.
They wanted this puppy to grow into a service dog for their son, Matthew.
Like responsible trainers, we were upfront and honest about how difficult, and possibly unattainable, this goal was. With that being in mind, he began his training journey. Mikey went through each and every program surpassing every obstacle we put in front of him. We made sure he was environmentally bombproof, and could work completely off leash.
So, after a year, Mikey joined our Service Dog Program.
We needed to teach him tasks, and make sure he could not just comfort Matthew, but anchor himself when Matthew tried to run off.
So, while Matthew was being taught new skills such as holding on to a leash, and wearing a safety belt; K9 Standards spent countless hours with Mikey teaching him his new skills. This dog was to become this young boys lifeline.
We are so proud to announce that Micheal has graduated his Service Dog Program, and is able to work with and for his kid.
Mikey has been such blessing to this family, and has given Matthew so much more freedom and happiness.
Thank you SO much for trusting us with training your dog. ❤️
It’s National Pet Day! 🐶
Take some time today to appreciate your training partner.
REACTIVE DOGS ARE GOOD DOGS.
24 dogs cleaning up their heeling skills at last nights group class.
We get asked pretty often,
“Do you train small dogs?”
And the answer is always…
Of course!
Here is Luna the mini golden doodle representing this morning.
Isn’t she adorable in her snow suit? 😂
Just a daily reminder that your dog doesn’t need other dog friends.
And quite a lot of dogs do not want to socialize.
And you should be okay with that.
Their fulfillment should come from their relationship with you. 😊
Having a bit of fun last night during class.
We challenged our Advanced Obedience students to maintain a “place” while we pushed carts around @loweshomeimprovement.
It was an easy task for this group!
This weekend we took our Advanced Obedience students to a Food Truck & Craft Fesitval.
All dogs worked completely off leash through hundreds of people while still maintaining obedience. They encountered brand new sounds, smells, and and distractions! We worked around a live band, next to the tempting picnic area, and in the busy craft section.
It was such great exposure and a good test for all.
Great work!
