Meet Ozzy!

He’s a Rottweiler puppy who’s joined our program to work through some fear. He gets spooked by cars, and he can be a little weary of strangers and other dogs. We want to make sure that his fearfulness doesn’t turn into reactivity. Unfortunately, this happens quite often! So we plan to spend some time with this big guy and build up his confidence.

Meet Freyja!

She’s a rescue who joined us to fix her on leash behaviors as well as her manners within the home. She has already learned the basics such as heel, sit, down, and placing. She’s also no longer pulls on the leash to see other dogs and is way more focused on her handlers.

Meet Shyla!

Shes a golden doodle who is super energetic and just the sweetest girl around. She loves everyone.. nobody is a stranger to her! But with her outgoing personality she can be way too rambunctious. Before her training package she would bark, jump all over people, and she couldn’t sit still for a single second. If Shyla saw another dog she would incessantly whine and bark due to her over excitement.

So we’ve spent some time working on her impulse control and her manners. She doesn’t go over threshold like she used to do. She can patiently wait to say hi to strangers and she can easily ignore dogs. She has become way more handler focused. She still loves everybody and her personality has not changed one bit, she just has self control now!

Spaga 🤎

Unfortunately, over a week and a half ago Spaga passed.
Spaga had a unique story, and he also had a very unique personality. He was extremely challenging, and probably had some of the worst resource guarding we have ever seen. He definitely wasn’t an easy dog, and he enjoyed confrontation.

Although he was a TOUGH dog, he definitely will be missed. Not just by his family, but by us too. We had spent so much time with Spaga, and working through his aggression, resource guarding, and just general behaviors, that we ended up growing super fond of him and his quirks. We gave him nicknames and spent a lot of time joking about his alter ego, and just his demeanor in general.

We will really miss him, and are happy that he is now comfortable and with his dad. ❤️

Meet Willie!

He’s a deaf ✨ Bully mix, who has joined us to work on his resource guarding. Will is a big strong young male, who has always displayed some guarding of his food, even as a young puppy. And unfortunately, like most dogs, his resource guarding has progressively worsened. There is some conflict between him and his mom, so we have been working on their relationship together.

Willie also tends to stress quickly and becomes very avoidant with his behaviors. So we’ve introduced some methods to recondition his response to stress.

These things can also be a little challenging with a dog who’s deaf, but luckily, we have experience training reactive deaf dogs. So our communication with Willie has been very clear from the start.

Willie has been so far progressing very nicely! His obedience is coming along great, and we’ve begun mending the relationship between him and his mom and working through some of his guarding. He’s such a sweet boy.

Meet Lottie and Zellie!

These two girls were just 2 out of 4 Boston Terrier females within the home.

The both of them needed some in-home manners and boundaries. Even though these two girls were from the same breeder, related, and both Boston Terriers, they needed to be trained very differently! They had very contrasting personalities and we applied different styles to their training programs.

No two dogs are the same, and it is very important as a trainer to train the individual dog that is in front of you. You must adapt!

Meet Chardonnay!

She’s the sweetest Rottweiler puppy who’s joined us for basic obedience, and to maybe one day become a SD for her handlers. 😊

With her we will be focusing on of course her obedience, but to also work on environmental soundness to ensure her confidence out in public. She has some big shoes to fill!

Meet Allie!

Allie is a rescue apbt mix, who unfortunately we’ve never had the pleasure to post about before. She ended up pretty severly tearing a muscle while having the zoomies in her living room, and was never able to return back to training due to it.

But, we would like to share the progress that we made with her during the months we had worked with her.

Allie was rescued and during her adoption progress it was made known that she was social and dog friendly. The couple who adopted her were looking for an easy going companion and a playmate to their children’s dog.

Well, once she was taken home it was very clear that Allie had some pretty severe dog aggression. She wasn’t just reactive, she actually wanted to fight other dogs. She found it enjoyable.

Allie, to this day, had some of the worst aggression we’ve ever seen in a dog. (And we’ve seen hundreds of dogs.) The rescue fabricated how social she was towards other animals and were not transparent, AT ALL.

So, her handlers did the responsible thing and enrolled her with us. Allie had so much reactivity it took weeks for us to safely even have a dog within her presence while maintaining her obedience. We spent countless hours reconditioning her to tolerate other dogs, and to be able to just walk down the street without trying to lunge after them.

Although we weren’t able to ever finish training her due to her injury.. her handlers learned some very valuable skills, and Allie definitely improved with her reactivity.

Allie has been on a pretty strict exercise restriction, and cannot go back to obedience, but we are glad we got to work with her!

PAWKOUR. 🐾

We are always challenging our clients to proof their “place” commands. Some dogs can be unsure of interacting and stepping onto unstable, loud, or even new surfaces.
Overcoming these fears creates confidence in dogs and it creates a bond of trust.
