Guardians of Rescue We are a non-profit organization whose members work tirelessly to protect the well-being of animals. This program is a very important aspect of our mission.

Programs

Our programs are designed to provide assistance in a broad range of scenarios, to provide needed assistance, to educate, to motivate, and to advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves. Give me Shelter

This program works to ensure that all animals are provided with proper protection from the elements. The program’s initiatives include volunteers patrolling for animals in situatio

ns without proper protection and adequate food and water, workshops on shelter construction, gathering supplies, and mass shelter assembly days. Guardians of Rescue will be providing shelters free of charge to any and all dogs and cats in need. With this program, we will be joining forces with numerous organizations including organized labor, law enforcement and fellow animal welfare groups in order to maximize the resources needed to assist animals in need. Helping Families:

This program is designed to keep families together. It provides pet food and supplies to anyone in need due to a catastrophic event, or to families in need due to economic reasons. Home Again: Operation Support Our Troops

This program is a part of our Veterans and Military Affairs efforts, assisting returning service men and women in adopting a dog or cat from an animal shelter when they return home or bringing back a pet rescued during their deployment. Guardians of Rescue volunteers act as a special shelter liaison, helping with selection, completion of the adoption process, and training for both the animal and owner. We assist with the logistics of getting a pet home from the area where the service men and women are deployed, and making sure the animal adapts to US life, by providing whatever training is needed. Many men and women in the service are also faced with the dilemma of pet care when deployed on active duty, and are often stuck with no positive alternatives. Animals they adopt while on deployment are in need of safe transport home, and this can be difficult to organize. The therapeutic benefit these animals provide is immeasurable, and these men and women need our support. Next Generation Guardians: Humane Education
The Next Generation Guardians are a group of young people from all walks of life. Their goal is to “learn the ropes” of animal rescue, and be the change for our future. It is presented at public middle schools, high schools, Boy & Girl Scout troops, vocational schools and residential facilities for at risk youth. This program encompasses a number of animal welfare related topics, such as:

• How to recognize the signs of animal abuse and neglect, and how to report it in the proper manner.
• How to fight animal abuse and help defend creatures that cannot themselves.
• Why dog fighting is wrong and morally reprehensible and why it cannot be tolerated. To further the impact of our Humane Education program and further empower students, Guardians of Rescue works with schools and school districts to organize food and supply drives to benefit their local shelters, and assist them with our “Sponsor a Shelter Pet” initiative. Help us Help Them! If you want to volunteer for any of these programs, please complete an application on our website at guardiansofrescue.org. TOGETHER we can save them!

𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐘 𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐔𝐊𝐊𝐀𝐇 (𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐔𝐊𝐀𝐇)

Hanukkah 2025 starts at nightfall on December 14, 2025 and ends with nightfall on December 22, 2025.

Hanukkah (also spelled Chanukah ) is an 8-day Jewish festival marking the miraculous victory of the Maccabees, Jewish freedom fighters, over the Seleucidian Greek occupiers in the year 139 BCE.

After recapturing Jerusalem’s Holy Temple, which had been converted into a place of idol worship, they searched for pure oil with which to light the Temple menorah. They found just enough to burn for one day, but miraculously it burned for eight days until more oil could be brought.

We would like to wish all our Jewish friends, team members, volunteers and supporters who observe this important event a Happy Hanukkah, and we wish everyone joy throughout this Holiday Season.

𝐓𝐎𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐈𝐒 𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐒𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐘

Since 2004, National Horse Day is celebrated every December 13. It’s a day to remember the economic, historic, and cultural contributions that horses have made.

Like all animals, horses have intrinsic value apart from how they have helped humankind, but we also have to be grateful for the important part they have played in human history.

Horses today face many challenges, both in the domestic state or still running wild on the range. Domestic horses can face the same types of abuse and neglect visited on dogs and cats, including brutal slaughter when they are unwanted by their humans. American wild horses are heartlessly removed from the range in roundups which injure and kill horses and shatter horse herds, bands and families forever, despite the availability of birth control to stabilize wild horse and b***o populations.

While we still have a long way to go to truly honer the noble horse, today we can resolve to be their defenders.

After all,

International Animal Rights Day is a global observance dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of animal rights and advocating for the ethical and humane treatment of animals. What is GivingTuesday?

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: A day that encourages people to do good.

Over 13 years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires millions of people to donate, volunteer, and spread awareness.

Of course, Guardians needs and welcomes donations at all times, so that we can always be ready to help dogs like Bambi, shown in the photo.

But getting a generous response on GivingTuesday lets us feel the combined weight of our friends who love and respect animals, and want to help in any way they are able. A good response on that special day lets us know you want us to keep on fighting for suffering animals and getting them on the road to happy new lives.

On GivingTuesday, and every day,
Together we save them,
Guardians of Rescue

𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐊𝐒𝐆𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐆!

This Thanksgiving, we’re thankful that we've been able to help so many suffering animals, and that's all because of you!

Because of your caring, animals who had languished in horrible neglect escaped their physical and mental chains and began to heal and really live.

Rescuing dogs, puppies ,cats and kittens from mills and hoarders, keeping outside cats warm with cozy shelters during times of bitter cold, reuniting military members with pets they rescued while on deployment— all of these were made possible by your good hearts and generosity.

We owe you so much, and we look forward to helping MANY more animals in need. with you at our side.

Guardians wishes you and your loved ones of every species a great Thanksgiving!

𝐁𝐑𝐑𝐑𝐑....𝐋𝐄𝐓'𝐒 𝐊𝐄𝐄𝐏 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐌!

It's cold and Winter is near, and if you don't live where it's warm most of the time, your pets are feeling it too. We need to be extra aware of ways to keep our animal families safe and warm until Spring appears.

Below are some tips from the Red Cross on getting our pets through the harsher season. (And if you'd like to make sure an outside community cat makes it through the bitter cold, you can do that here—every $25 places a cozy, life-protecting shelter for a cat with no house in which to snuggle— https://guardiansofrescue.networkforgood.com/projects/116208-get-homeless-cats-into-shelters )

1. Bring your pets inside during cold weather. Keep your animals inside. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA®) reports if pets are left outdoors, they can freeze, become disoriented, lost, stolen, injured or killed. In addition, don’t leave pets alone in a car during cold weather, as cars can act as refrigerators that hold in the cold and cause animals to freeze to death.
The Humane Society of the United States adds that if pets cannot come indoors, you should make sure they are protected by a dry, draft-free enclosure large enough to allow them to sit and lie down, but small enough to hold in the pet’s body heat. Raise the floor a few inches off the ground and cover it with cedar shavings or straw. Turn the enclosure away from the wind and cover the doorway with waterproof burlap or heavy plastic.
Move other animals or livestock to sheltered areas and make sure they have access to non-frozen drinking water. If the animals are outside, make sure their access to food and water is not blocked by snow drifts, ice or other obstacles.
2. Protect their paws. Salt and other chemicals used to melt snow and ice can irritate a pet’s paws. Wipe their paws with a damp towel before your pet licks them and irritates their mouth. The ASPCA adds that you can also use petroleum jelly or booties to protect sensitive paws. Use pet-friendly ice melt products.
3. Take care of their coat and skin. To avoid itchy, flaking skin, the ASPCA recommends keeping your home humidified and towel dry your pet as soon as he or she comes inside. Pay special attention to paws and in between the toes. Remove any snow from between foot pads. If possible, keep your dog’s coat longer in winter for warmth. If your dog is short-haired, consider getting a coat or sweater for your pet. Keep pet bathing to a minimum when it’s cold to avoid dry skin. If your pet needs a bath, use a moisturizing shampoo.
4. Antifreeze is a deadly poison. Wipe up spills and store antifreeze out of reach.
5. Know your pet’s limits outdoors. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) reports you should be aware of how your pet tolerates cold weather and adjust as needed. Consult your veterinarian if you need advice.
6. Check your engine. A warm vehicle engine can be an appealing heat source for outdoor and feral cats, but it's deadly. Check underneath your car, bang on the hood, and honk the horn before starting the engine to make sure a cat hasn’t taken refuge on your engine.
7. Use space heaters with caution. The heater can burn your pet or be knocked over, possibly starting a home fire.
8. Watch for hypothermia. If your pet is whining, shivering, anxious, slower than usual or stops moving, seems weak or starts looking for warm places to b***ow, get them back inside quickly because they are showing signs of hypothermia. Frostbite is harder to detect and may not be fully recognized until a few days after the damage is done. If you suspect your pet has hypothermia or frostbite, consult your veterinarian immediately.
9. Be prepared: Winter can bring blizzards and power outages. Prepare an emergency kit and include your pet in your plans. Have enough food, water and medicine on hand to get through at least five days.
10. Avoid walking on frozen water. Stay away from frozen ponds, lakes and other water. You don't know if the ice will support your pet's weight and falling through the ice could be deadly.

𝐔𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐓—𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐬!

It’s getting bitter cold and often wet outside now. I know we are relieved when we finally get back inside and warm up...

But feral and community cats don’t have this luxury. Right now, so many are in danger of not surviving through the unforgiving Winter until the warm weather comes to save them.

We can’t let that happen—Guardians of Rescue is on the ground, pushing harder than ever to get warm cat shelters to so many cats who are freezing right now in the harsh winter weather.

We can’t do it alone— would you please help keep the cats warm so they will survive till Spring?

If you can help a freezing cat get warm, dry and safe, you can do that here:
https://guardiansofrescue.networkforgood.com/projects/116208-get-homeless-cats-into-shelters

If you prefer using Paypal:
https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=2KVKTSQ8WNR4S

Each of these dry, warm and cozy shelters cost $25. Your $25 will immediately bring relief to a shivering and miserable cat. Maybe you can even help with more, but every donation of any amount adds up to save these suffering homeless cats.

It’s a really good—and warm—feeling to be the difference between a cat freezing or having a place to escape the cold and wet.

PLEASE— we need your support! You can be the reason our truck pulls up with a shelter for an outdoor cat who is freezing as we write this.

Thanks for caring about our cold little cat friends,

Together we save them,
Guardians of Rescue
