Keep calm and carry on; or at least eat 😉 Not all dogs 🐕 but many need to have fear and hyper behavior trained out of them. Humans too. We need to train our fight or flight ✈️ out of us. Dogs mimic us. So if we’re overly hyper or overly concerned, they will be too. Train yourself more than you train your dog 🐶. The dog and you will be better for it. 🧘♂️
Even though we all look quite serious in this shot, we were having fun. These two wonderful dogs were my first gig two years ago. They taught me that “we (the dogs) are really fun to be around. And, I taught them how to heel. Who got the better end of of the deal. I did and I’m grateful for them and for dog 🐕 sitting.
Present moment. There is nothing other than the present moment and animals attempt to teach us humans that every moment of every day. You’ve all seen those lion chase videos in Africa. The prey run and run. If they aren’t caught, they quickly go back to chill mode. Humans, on the other hand, will go to therapy for years or cocktail parties talking about being the prey and almost getting caught. Dogs 🐕 and cats 🐈 must constantly roll their eyes 👀.
The world is in the midst of a lie down. People are canceling travel out of fear and re-examining their priorities. The later is a good thing. But there will be a moment in the not too distant future where each of us will need to get away. And for that you need a dog 🐶 sitter. I’m here to serve just like your faithful dog 🐕, cat 🐱, and home 🏡.
Even if I just look like I’m going to sit on the couch they head there. And if I sit down, I immediately have to get up, pick them up, and then sit again. Hysterical 😂 I never in a million years would have thought I would dog sit. I never in another million years would I think I would enjoy it. Yet, I do. But life has a way of presenting something beyond my focus. I started a couple years back. Then a friend offered me a paid gig. And then I started getting more clients. One thing leads to the next and now I have an enjoyable side gig.

Where’s this guy best at? At home or boarded. Some dogs adore the comradery of other dogs. I think he would as well except he has back leg problems and tires fast. So the answer for Pucci is: home with the dog sitter (me) is best.

I had to turn down a client today because I was booked. He may have to board them (not these dogs in the photo). My heart sank. The dogs in the photo represent why home is so preferable. Chill. That is the expert advice of our furry friends. Dogs and cats sleep a lot or what I like to call dog 🐕 and 🐱 meditation 🧘♂️. Perhaps if we did a few hours of meditation a day plus a full night’s rest, we would be chill; like our pets 😇
Gratitude that I get to care for dogs while their owners are away.
This is Ruckus. I notice that when I’m done with a pet sitting gig I have a letdown. I feel sadness. There is an adjustment back to my non-animal life. I miss them and, yet, I know I’m the temporary. Dogs pretty much ignore me the minute the master returns. Sometimes it’s better if I leave before they return; but, I do like to have a chat and tell the owners how much fun it was with them. I always take a day off between gigs. It helps.
Isn’t dog walking special? To observe their motions and thoughts. What is she thinking? What sense is processing in her smell, hearing and sight? Dogs are teachers. Teachers of the present moment. But, you can’t always be there. Sometimes work and vacation travel keep you away from this moment for a few days. That’s when a house and pet sitter is of great value. Wow. I got a few more gigs and then suddenly I’m creating an instagram and posting on Facebook and now I love house sitting and pet sitting 🪑 Who knew?!
The owners of these wonderful dogs had a glorious weekend with friends because they had someone they trust taking care of their dogs and home. The number one stress of owners is trust. Being mature, owning my own homes over the years, and ability to be with them most of the time make me a perfect candidate for your house and pet sitting needs.
