More from mama's session yesterday 🥰

Mama's problems usually flare up more when it's rainy, cold and the ground is soft. Her right side back and her left front get tight and become stiff making it difficult for her to move around.

So to give you an idea mama has went from :
Once a week sessions for 3 weeks
Then we gave her break to see how she did then we were able to go to twice a month for full body massages and now we're at once a month massages (unless weather changes throw her out of wack)

Yesterday was her first red light therapy and she really enjoyed her session and gave lots of release signs

Side note every horse is different some may need more or less- don't base your horse off of any I share about😊

Stretching is a very useful tool every horse owner/rider can use on a daily basis to help maintain joint health, range of motion, improve flexibility and promote muscular symmetry of the horse. I incorporate stretches into all my treatments, and ask owners to provide stretches as a regular care when they work their horse

Muscle tension and spasms can result in conditions such as : (just to name a few)
-Head tossing
-Coordination
-Bending issues
- Saddle not sitting right and slipping off to one side
- Overall soreness
- Resistance in neck movement
- Not reaching full extensions
- Swelling/edema
- Hoof issues- when in pain the horse may shift their weight/body to compensate for the area thats giving them issues attempting to alleviate the pain, leading to shifts in the hoofs. (The hoof could show more wear in certain places than usual)

Massage Therapy can be used as a preventative as well as a corrective practice

Stifle injury???
The Stifle is associated with 3 main muscles the Bicep Femoris which allow for the extension of the hind leg,hip, hock and bends the stifle, the other main muscles are the Tensor Fascia Latae and the Fascia Latae which coincide with the other to allow the stifle to extend and the hip to flex.

Some (not all) symptoms of stifle issues
Lameness
Swelling
Thicking of the joint
The horse may become intolerant to exerice/movement

Massage can alleviate some of the pain and discomfort the horse maybe feeling getting the horse to relaxed and the muscles to release the built up tension.

Does your saddle fit as it should? Correct saddle fitting eases the muscles of the horse and makes riding more enjoyable for you and your horse. If it doesnt fit right it can cause muscle soreness, and even alter your horses attitude. I can measure your horse for the correct fitting!
