“When I walk through the door now, it’s exactly how I want my house to smell.” A customer recently shared this with me about her Walk in the Woods reed diffuser. It is the top-selling reed diffuser this month, and people are loving it. So I brought one home for myself and put it in my bedroom, and I feel the same way—every time I walk in my bedroom, I get the perfect little pop of fragrance, and I love it. Subtle but noticeable, not overpowering, just really elegant and pleasant. A complex, earthy fragrance that elevates any room and makes you just a bit happier at home.

It's $5 FRIDAY!!

We desperately need help with our vet bills!!

We racked up about $1,800 in vet bills this week between spay/neuter and sick visits and were only able to pay $900 of that. That leaves us in a very hard position for next week and we will have to cancel appointments if we can't come up with these funds.

I know times are extremely difficult for everyone right now, but we need help and simply cant do it with out all of you.

The calls, text and emails just keep coming in and we have to pick and chose who we help. Right now we unfortunately have to say no to them all as we just don't have the funds.

If you can find it in your heart and wallet to donate, please do! Anything helps and is greatly appreciated. Your donations truly help save the lives of these helpless cats and kittens that were failed by society.

As always, thank you so much for your continued support!

It's time to finally welcome Rocco to the A.S.K. family in a new way--we've known him for a decade!

But now we get to know him chain-free and that's the absolute best feeling ever. We never give up. And that means we have walked through snow, zero degree temps and heat index of over 100F to keep this dog more comfortable and alive for a decade.

We've posted here and there with fragments of his story. And more will be posted on our Patreon and for monthly donors.

Long story short, he got attacked by another dog and that illicited his urgent surrender. He couldn't walk himself out of the yard even. We had to carry him.

Naturally, he is heartworm positive. We visit over 500 dogs regularly and that does NOT include all of the intermittent stops and requests for service additionally. That's 500 dogs WE find through street outreach ourselves that get visited each month. As you can imagine this places us into the awful position of not having heartworm preventatives for every single dog, all season long. That's painstaking reality. Can't sugarcoat the facts of what we face.

So Rocco was finally surrendered, and now we are of course treating his heartworm disease.

He needs a quiet home and gentle foster.

This dog has seen some stuff. Not good stuff. He is resilient. And he's a warrior.

All expenses paid if we can simply find the right spot for him to land.

In the meantime we appreciate help with the vet bills. Almost $400 for his first vet visit already and he's worth every penny. We can't even neuter him until he's more stable.

Dogs like Rocco are extremely special to us. They've endured so much, for so long. Retirement from chained life and breeding is here but now we just need to find that special household where he can really feel like he's "home."

People don't want the old dogs. They don't want the black dogs. We hope we can prove the statistics wrong.

🐾🌍 Happy International Cat Day! 🌍🐾

Today, we celebrate our feline friends around the globe, from the pampered house cats to the resilient outdoor community cats. Cats have touched our lives in countless ways, offering companionship, joy, and a bit of mystery to our daily routines.

While many cats enjoy the comforts of indoor life, millions of community cats live outdoors, navigating urban landscapes and natural environments. These outdoor cats, often misunderstood, play a vital role in our ecosystems by controlling rodent populations and bringing balance to our neighborhoods.

However, with their numbers increasing, community cats face challenges like overpopulation, hunger, and disease. This is where Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) comes in as a humane and effective solution. TNR involves humanely trapping community cats, having them spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and then returning them to their outdoor homes. This process not only prevents unwanted litters but also improves the health and well-being of these cats.

How Can You Help?

🐱 Support TNR Programs: Get involved with local organizations that run TNR programs. Your support can help provide the necessary resources for these life-saving initiatives.

🐾 Volunteer: Offer your time to help trap, transport, or foster community cats. Every bit of effort counts.

😺 Educate Others: Spread the word about the importance of spaying and neutering cats to reduce overpopulation and improve their quality of life.

❤️ Adopt or Foster: Consider adopting or fostering a community cat or kitten to provide a loving home for those in need.

On this International Cat Day, let's honor all cats by ensuring a safer, healthier world for them. Whether they're purring on your lap or roaming your backyard, every cat deserves love and care.

ADOPTED! Stormtrooper has officially left with his new family! He did really well meeting them in the foster room. I was very impressed with how brave he was. This helps me feel so much better. I worry about him being scared. He also has three kitty friends and a doggy in his new home. He's going to be a spoiled, happy boy!

We hate asking for help but how can we say no to our cats?

We are once again in need of wet food!

We give our cats a serving of wet food every day and often rely on wet food to get our sick, malnourished, and picky eaters to eat. But, we are running severely low. We have gone through our stock and need help resupplying. If you are able to donate even a few cans that would really help. While we (okay, the cats) prefer the Friskies brand and the pate style, we will accept any and all donations. If you are willing to donate, you can drop off your donation or have it mailed directly from Chewy, Amazon (wishlist link below), or wherever you order your supplies! With full and content tummies our kitties thank you!

Maddie's donated $50 from dog walks.

$5 Friday! - This is Moondancer, one of the kittens from the dog bite litter that Rick and I brought into the rescue. We have now lost two kittens from this litter. We know the first kitten passed away from dog bite infection. The second kitten may have passed away from a bite to the head. But something else is going on with these last two kittens. Moondancer has some sort of infection on the top of her ear, possibly caused by a dog bite? We don't know. And neither kitten is gaining weight like they should be. They have an appointment to be seen next week. The first kitten that passed did see the vet and no funds came in for her that I'm aware of. Please, if you can spare $5 this week so we can do our best to save the last two kittens, we sure would be thankful.
