Chicago English Bulldog Rescue, Inc. CEBR is the most experienced and longest standing 501c3 english bully rescue in the Midwest. We are sure you can appreciate our process and our mission.

Our goal for dogs entering our care is to provide the necessary medical and emotional care needed to prepare our bullies for the journey to their forever family. We believe strongly in our process of matching bulldogs with the best families for their needs, and we consider ourselves advocates for all of the bulldogs in our care. We do what is best for their health and happiness, which is why when

applying to adopt from CEBR, you will be "matched" and are not able to pick your bully. We also feel education is an important part of our mission and try to educate bulldog owners (and future bully families) through community events whenever possible. CEBR also has a close network of support post-adoption. We want to hear from you! We feel its important to provide whatever support we can to make the transition smooth for you and your new bully! CEBR is a licensed shelter, and a 501c3 bully rescue in Illinois. Why is this important? It allows us to accept donations towards the care of our animals legally and donations are tax deductible for you. To find out more: www.ebullymatch.com

*Welcome almost adoptable Frankie!*

Hello! I’m Frankie! I’m 5 years old English Bulldog gal who was used for breeding in the past, but now I’m enjoying my retirement. I’m told that I’m very sweet and affectionate. I love cuddling and being around my people, like all the time (don’t try to go the bathroom without me)! Since I’m still getting used to having amazing people around me all the time, I get major FOMO and will need some time to adjust. My hobbies include staring at people, lights, flags, the wind on walks, chasing cats, chewing on a good bone, and sleeping. My foster momma says that I’m a very strong girl and when motivated by a squirrel, I can pull hard on the other end of the leash. Other than that, I’m a good walker and enjoy a little exercise daily.

I’m still learning about this house-training thing and how to communicate when I need to go outside to potty. Another area of focus for me is my need to be around my people. I will let you know when I’m not happy being left alone when my people are in other parts of the house, or when I think I should be outside with my people.

Although there is another dog here at my foster home, and I’m fine seeing dogs on walks, I think I would prefer to be the queen of her castle. I guess sometimes I can have some “pushy bully behavior,” but I’m not trying to be mean.

The right family for me will be one that will work with me on my barking behavior when separated, and on my house training. If you are looking to be cherished by your pup, I’m the gal for you. It’s impossible not to feel adored when I stare at you with love in my big beautiful blue eyes. -Frankie

*Welcome almost adoptable Gidget!*

Hi there! I’m Gidget, the little girl with big ideas! I’m only 3 years old and just 33lbs of speedy perfection.

I’m not like your average English bully, I can do stairs, walks, and jump much higher! My favorite ways to spend my time are shaking any toy senseless, playing tug, or even better, scooting a ball around the yard at high speed. Sometimes we need to put away the toys for a bit so I can rest up and catch my breath, they’re so fun it’s hard to stop. Learning new tricks and games and working for treats is also just as fun for me. I’m a quick learner and will watch you closely to figure it out.

My soft palate is elongated like some bulldogs, and while I’m noisy, it doesn’t seem to slow me down if the weather isn’t too hot. I’m just as happy to follow you around the house and yard and see what you’re up to. If you’re gardening, I would like a drink from the hose, and if you’re cooking, I can be your taste tester!

Before I came to CEBR, I was in Dyersburg TN, I was the office helper at the animal shelter there, so I’m also good at greeting people and keeping an eye on work. I’m good around other dogs and cats, but not sure if we should play together yet. I might tear up a toy over time, but I’ll leave your things alone. Bathing, grooming and getting my nails done doesn’t bother me one bit. I’m also house trained! Basically, I’m pretty much the perfect little companion if you’ve got lots of playtime and enjoy including me in your activities! See ya soon! -Gidget

*Welcome new intake Birdie!*

Ready to Take Flight into My Forever Home!

Hey girl hey! I'm Birdie, and I bet you’re wondering how such a fabulous bully mix lady like me ended up here. Well, I was found as a stray and turned into the humane society in Kenosha after likely spending my earlier years as a breeder. Now, at 37 pounds and an estimated 7 years old, I’m ready to leave that life behind and head into my Queen B era—with you, perhaps?

I may be a little older, but don’t let that fool you—I'm still full of life! I LOVE to play, play, and play! In the mornings, my foster brother and I get our zoomies on for about an hour, which wears us out to recharge for another go in the evening. When I need to catch some Z’s during the day, I love nothing more than sleeping on a lap or in a bed nearby. I’m a very curious girlie, always ready for the next adventure. Whether my foster parents are excitedly getting my food ready for dinner, or just leisurely walking from one side of the house to the other, you can count on me to be by your side with tail in full swing. My foster dad says I remind him of Amelia Earhart because my tail wags like a little propeller all day long.

Along with my cute propeller tail, you can see I have the most adorable, perky ears. However, as you might guess, it takes some work to look this good and my ears have definitely needed a deep clean. I was also rescued with some very itchy and dry skin but I’m hoping with my current medicine and baths from my foster family that my fur will be back to perfection soon! While we are on the topic of my blemishes, I should also mention that I’m working on house training. I know that I’m supposed to go potty when I’m outside, but the outside world can be so exciting and full of distractions that I sometimes forget to do my business when I’m out there. Just give me a little more time, and I’ll get the hang of it!

So now that you know all about me, let me tell you about my future family. I’m looking for a forever home where I have plenty of space to play with humans who are committed to playing with me because I’ve got a lot of lost playtime to make up for! (Bio continued in comments below)

Who doesn't love a rescue transformation?!?

*Teddy B has an adoption pending, but we wanted to share his incredible transformation with the CEBR family!*

Hi y’all! I’m Teddy B and I’ve been with Chicago English Bulldog Rescue for over a year, getting healthier every day. I was found wandering the streets in September of 2023 in extremely bad shape (see phone #1). CEBR saw my sad eyes, scooped me right up and got me the medical attention that I desperately needed. The dog-tors told me I have something called pemphigus, an autoimmune disease that caused me to be covered all over with oozing sores, and also to have internal problems like anemia. I was also malnourished from fending for myself on the streets (not a great place for a pup with special medical needs like me!).

It's been a long journey with a lot of ups and downs, but I’m excited to tell my CEBR friends that I am now finally in full remission! Once I was healthy enough, I had successful surgery this summer to correct my cherry eye. Now I’m looking and feeling great! I do still have some ear issues which may also require surgery someday, but I’m so grateful to have a great team at CEBR making sure I get all of the best care.

Throughout this ordeal, my foster momma says I have shown her my indomitable spirit. Now that I feel good, I really just love everything and everyone! Nature has been a source of healing for this me: I absolutely adore my daily walks in the forest preserve and sunning myself on a picnic table after my walks. Things are looking bright for the amazing Teddy B thanks to CEBR and all of the heard work of my foster momma. In fact, she loves me so much that she’s adopting me!

*Welcome almost adoptable Duke!*

All hail Duke – the royal couch potato!
Don’t let my size fool you (a robust 80lbs)– I am a gentle giant! I’m still young (about 4 years old) and get a little excited around new people, but once I’ve gotten to know you, I will love you and you’ll love me, too!

CEBR is not sure of my story, but I was picked up from the shelter in rough shape – dirty, stinky, and with a nasty ear infection. CEBR and my foster family took me in, cleaned me up, nursed me back to clean ears and now I’m living the good life!

My foster mom and dad cannot get over how HANDSOME I am! I’m a big boy with a big heart – and a big noggin to match! Did I mention I have a TAIL? It’s a pretty big one, too – no pocket, but I do need my tail “crack” cleaned every now and then… I love being with people, actually more like ON people. They are the best at snuggling, and I LOVE to snuggle! My foster mom says I’m like a living weighted blanket with surround snore!

My foster family thinks I should have been called Billy because I LOVE to climb things. Let’s just say I’ve been both IN and ON my crate! I’m a big boy but quite nimble – I can get some real air when leaping onto your lap for some snuggle time! Sometimes, I just need a place to rest my head – it just may be your lap, leg, or shoulder if you’re nearby! I also know a few tricks, including sit and high five (or paw).

I am pretty slow and easy going – I like short, easy walks! I love chewing and I sometimes chew things that aren’t mine. My foster family takes them away and reminds me to chew on my toys, not theirs! I’m learning. I love a good bone, and I’ll play chase if you move it on me! My favorite thing to do is to snooze on the couch (or a chair), or a blanket, or a person and get some good scratches and pets in!

I live with a canine foster sister and foster brother – I generally don’t react to them. I get a good sniff in, but once I’ve done my initial identification, I’m indifferent to the other dogs. My sis, Coconut, put me in my place when I got a little too nosy and then we’ve had no serious issues. (Bio continued in comments below ⬇️)

To say that recently adopted Diesel is doing well in his forever home is an understatement! Check out the words from his mama below…

“Long overdue post. Yesterday was Diesel’s 3 month gotchaversary. Thank you Chicago English Bulldog Rescue, Inc., Nicole, Samantha and Marni! Sri and I couldn’t have asked for a better match! Diesel (aka Bubba aka Stinky Bones) is really enjoying the city life, sooooo many smells, new people and adventures. He loves getting cheese and pets from Betty at the corner deli, his Unhide bed and exploring the neighborhood! He’s still unsure of nose butter, spinach and pawdicures”.

We are firm believers in the 3x3x3 rule….

It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to the dogs new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training.

*Welcome adoptable Snoop*

What’s crack-a-lackin’!? My name is Snoop, as in Snoop Dogg. After being America’s cheerleader at the Olympics I’ve been settling into my foster home nicely.

I’m a healthy 50 pounds of bully love. I don’t know my exact age, but they think I’m about 1 years old. I can do stairs, I am potty trained, and I know sit, paw and down. My foster parents also say I’m so smart. I am extremely active for a bulldog but maybe that is because I’m so young. I love to play; I get the zoomies when playing-I jump and run from room to room with my favorite toy in my mouth. I like to go, go, go on walks everyday. Oh, and speaking of walks… when I see other people and dogs on my walks, I do pull. I just can’t help it; I get so excited. I am working on this with my foster parents, and they say I am doing better. One of my other favorite things to do is snuggle up on the couch with my foster parents. I love using their arms or legs as a pillow- so cozy.

I don’t live with any other dogs in my foster home, but I was okay with them at the shelter, and when I stayed at a friend’s house while my foster parents were away I got along with those dogs just fine too. I really enjoyed playing with them. In my foster home there are these furballs that are called cats, and I am okay with them…I mostly ignore them but occasionally go up to them for a good sniff. It doesn’t bother me to be by myself for a few hours but I am used to having a break every few hours so my new home should have a plan to work from home, have a flexible schedule, or plan for a dog walker. Because I can jump and run when playing with my foster parents, they think older children would be okay. I need a home that will continue to work on my leash skills with me.

It is time for me to sign off for the night! My foster parents say I have to get ready for the 2028 Olympics. I think I have a bright future commentating sports, animal planet shows…the possibilities are endless. Fo’ shizzle my nizzle?!!
