Yes, we care for birds too! Kerri fell in love with parrots while attending Moorpark College’s Exotic Animal Training and Management program. She became manager of the parrot aviary and oversaw the care of all of the birds in the zoo. After graduation from the EATM program, she worked for a studio animal company that specialized in birds. She managed a collection of over 100 different species of birds, raising and training them for use in the entertainment industry. She has worked birds for The Voice, Mirror Mirror, Jackass, The Young and the Restless, CSI, and countless commercials and print ads (just to name a few).

One of our own needs help! Kaley is one of our amazing sitters here at Take A Break Pet Care. Her sweet dog, Pippa, got very sick and they had to make the extremely difficult decision to put her down. They did everything they could to save her, and their bills are astronomical! Please consider helping so that Kaley can stay with us!

Pippa's birthday is on April 5th, and while we hope she is home to celebrate with us by then, rig… Kaley Whelan needs your support for Pippa's Hospitalization

As a reminder, we are not offering visits on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, so make sure to give yourself plenty of time to make other arrangements for those two days.

This was Sadie coming home from the kennel yesterday. She didn’t want to stay in the back. She thought that seat was perfect for her!

We love when our clients foster dogs that we get to help take care of! These two happy girls are available for adoption through Paws for Life!

Update: The black-and-white one may be pending adoption, but the cute little brown one is still available. Her name is Charlotte. Charlotte had a very rough start to her life, but as you can see, she is a happy girl now!

Appreciative of large, warm(er), dry garages to help us get play time and energy out on a day like today!

We can't end our pet sitter appreciation week without mentioning a few more names.

Addison Schneider and Lindsay Madden are two of our sitters that are away at college. They return and help out during their holiday breaks and summers (and a few extra weeks they were home this past year due to Covid). We are very grateful for their seamless transitions back and forth on the team, grateful for their ability to jump right back in where they left off, and grateful for their help during our busiest times of the year!

One more sitter that I'd like to recognize is Jennifer James. Jennifer helps us out with two clients that live in an area that we don't normally service. Unfortunately these two clients haven't needed her in about a year because of Covid, but we are hopeful that when things return to normal, they will be back on our schedule! Jennifer is a trained vet tech and great with animals! She is also extremely loyal and reliable; a great asset to the team!

And lastly, we can't forget about our past team members that have all contributed in some way or another to the overall success of Take A Break Pet Care throughout the past 5 years. So sending a big shoutout and thank you to Hannah, Aubrey, Deanna, Cassidy, Barb, Heather, Melissa, Tori, Allie, Vickie, Tricia, Ellen, Sonya, Megan and Brianna!

For today’s pet sitter spotlight, we have Mary Boyer. Mary took some time off last year to get married but Covid had other plans and she ended up having to reschedule her wedding several times, resulting in a much longer sabbatical than first intended. But we are happy to report that she was finally able to have her wedding and now she’s back with us and we are building up her schedule again, slowly but surely! Mary is extremely trustworthy and reliable. She is always willing to help out where it is needed the most and is one of the kindest people you will ever meet. Mary and I often care for the same clients together, and she always communicates thoroughly and is very easy to work with. When I first interviewed Mary, she was also interviewing with several other pet sitting companies. Thank you, Mary, for choosing us!

Our Wednesday pet sitter appreciation spotlight is Kelly Maicon. Kelly actually started with my company as a client in 2017, and contacted me last summer after she saw a post about us hiring. When we did our initial meet and greet with Kelly, as a client, she told me about a bad pet sitting experience that she had recently had with someone else that she brought in to care for her dogs, so I knew that Kelly would be a great addition to our team because she already knew what clients DIDN’T want and wanted to prevent them from having bad experiences too. And a great addition to the team she has been! Kelly is one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. Clients will call me just to tell me how much they LOVE Kelly and just what a wonderful person she is, and we couldn’t agree more! Thank you, Kelly, for loving our pet clients and caring for each one of them how you care for your own pets and would want them cared for!
