“I have 200 pounds of dog”

That’s how Sandi described her walking situation.

She tried walking them herself… but quickly discovered that 200 pounds of enthusiastic dog can turn a simple walk into a full-contact sport.

Now when I show up, they get excited because they know it’s time for their walk.

Planet Paws Pet Care proudly sponsors a kennel at the Humane Society of Macomb, and right now the current resident is a 6-month-old pup named Colby.

Colby is currently learning how to be brave. Right now his strategy is barking if the wind blows too hard… so we’ll call it a work in progress.

The team at the Humane Society of Macomb is working with him on his manners and confidence, and this sweet pup is hoping to find his furever home soon.

🎉🐾 Happy 6th Birthday to Poe, our official Planet Paws Bed & Breakfast Concierge! 🐾🎉

Today, Poe is off duty and celebrating in style—out camping, soaking up nature, and racking up more walks and treats than should probably be legal.

Normally he’s busy greeting guests, inspecting snack quality, and making sure the blankets are “properly tested”… but today it’s all about him.

After a very serious meeting of the Planet Paws Pet Care Brain Trust (which included snacks, because all good meetings do), we’ve decided that today’s heat is simply too dangerous for dog walks.

So, we’re shifting walks to the cooler morning hours or converting them into refreshing potty-and-play visits instead. Safety comes first—because a happy pup is a healthy pup, and no one looks good in heatstroke.

Kash is a 7-month-old puppy who’s grown up in the shelter after arriving at just 10 weeks old. And let me tell you—this pup is pure sunshine wrapped in fur. Despite spending his whole puppyhood here, he’s all tail wags, happy zoomies, and kisses for days.

Kash does have a grade 4 heart murmur, which means he might need a little extra TLC in life. But don’t tell him that—he hasn’t gotten the memo. He loves people, loves dogs, and loves life. His joy is absolutely contagious.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to open your heart and home to a furry friend… this is Kash waving his tail at you. 🐶❤️

Once again, due to the extreme heat today, all scheduled walks have either been rescheduled or changed to potty and play visits. The safety of your pups always comes first!

These high temps can be super dangerous for our furry friends. If you do take them outside, keep an eye on them and keep the playtime short. And don’t forget—hydration is key! Make sure both you and your pups are staying cool and drinking plenty of water. 💧
