I strongly OPPOSE Colorado’s Proposition 129.

My position on this aligns with national and local veterinary organizations, including:
• American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)
• Colorado Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA)
• American Animal Hospital Association
• Colorado Association of Certified Veterinary Technicians

Why am I opposed to Proposition 129?
Proposition 129 aims to establish a new role called a Veterinary Professional Associate (VPA). The measure poses serious risks to animal safety, public health, and the veterinary profession. Here are the primary concerns:
1. Inadequate Training and Certification:
- VPAs would be allowed to diagnose, recommend treatments, and even perform surgeries after completing a mostly online master’s program with minimal hands-on training. No national accreditation or standardized exam exists for this program, leaving major gaps in accountability and public protection.
2. Compromised Animal Health and Safety:
- Animals needing specialized care or emergency intervention might suffer due to the limited knowledge and practical experience of VPAs. Even routine procedures can pose life-threatening risks if performed by someone without comprehensive veterinary training.
3. Increased Costs:
- Insufficient training could lead to mistakes in diagnosis, additional testing, and misdirected treatment plans, increasing costs for animal owners, while causing additional suffering for Colorado's pets.
4. Disruption to the Veterinary Workforce:
- The role of VPAs overlaps with that of veterinary technicians and could aggravate existing technician shortages by diverting resources. Furthermore, this measure introduces unnecessary complications, given that leveraging well-trained veterinary technicians offers a better path forward for advancing veterinary medicine as a whole.

Thank you for your support and for standing with me in opposition to this measure.

Please vote NO on Colorado Proposition 129!!!

September is National Su***de Prevention Month. Because veterinary professionals are unfortunately among some of the most likely to take their own lives, we are currently holding a raffle for a year of free nail trims, with all proceeds going to NOMV (Not One More Vet) — an organization dedicated to providing resources to those in our field struggling with their mental health and raising awareness for this cause. ❤️

We’re sad to say that most veterinarians we know — ours included — have had a classmate die by su***de. Veterinarians and their support staff, are people, too. This field is hard, but we love your pets and love what we do! 💕

We ask you consider entering in our raffle! Or, if you aren’t interested in the prize, you can donate directly at www.NOMV.org. 🐾

Did you know that I offer telemedicine nutritional consults?? Please reach out to me if you are interested for details.

I'm sharing the results from a recent consult for a 2 year old cat with the primary concerns of: ravenous appetite, vomiting/diarrhea, inappropriate urination, and asthma.

Her nutrition survey showed the following results:
#1 Parasympathetic Nervous System (NS)
#1 Digestion (tied)
#3 Thyroid Glands/Endocrine
Each of the categories has a general list of products, but there are products recommended just based on the specific questions.

I recommended starting with Feline Enteric (GI) Support, Feline Whole Body Support, and Paraplex - all from Standard Process.

1. Feline Enteric Support: showed up with Parasympathetic NS and Digestion. It contains: PMG: bone; desiccates: liver, kidney, stomach, duodenum, jejunum, spleen; Vits A/B; alfafa, Strombus gigas (conch); amino acids. It is recommended with any GI disease including leaky gut and IBD, immune issues, liver disease, and nerve issues.

2. Feline Whole Body Support: showed up with Parasympathetic NS and Thyroid Glands. It contains: PMG: heart, liver, kidneys; desiccates: liver, kidney, bone, spleen, trachea, jejunum; Vits A/C/E/Bioflavs; alfafa, cytosol extracts: adrenals, Embilica officinalis (Indian gooseberry).

3. Paraplex: It contains: PMG: pituitary, thyroid, pancreas, adrenal; Magnesium citrate, alfalfa, nutritional yeast, duodenum, wheat germ, and buckwheat. It is recommended to help support carb metabolism, support organ PMG, use w/ high parasympathetic or endocrine system.

Adrenal support works with the Parasympathetic NS. Alfalfa is a source of minerals. Buckwheat supports the body's natural inflammatory response. Conch is a source of protein, amino acids, and trace minerals.

Standard Process includes ingredients in several forms:
1. PMG (promorphogens): tissue works on a DNA level and acts as decoy, to reduce stress on the primary organ → time to heal. They never get absorbed - sits in the Peyer’s Patches (lymph tissue in the intestines) → these are proteins. They take away auto-antigens from the organ.
2. desiccates: entire cell
3. cytosol extracts: workhorse of the cell

Picket Fence Veterinary Acupuncture deeply cares about you and your beloved pet. We are very aware of the mysterious respiratory ailment that is affecting dogs throughout the country. Therefore, we want to take every precaution to help keep your pets safe during this time.

In addition to keeping up with vaccines and avoiding interaction with other dogs, it is critically important to support your dog's immune system. That is why I highly recommend Canine Immune Support from Standard Process. Standard Process supplements are made from whole food ingredients your pet would instinctively eat. These ingredients deliver the full spectrum of nutrition in its natural form.

The immune system is not one discrete organ, but a range of tissues and cellular functions. These tissues include: bone marrow, thymus, spleen, lymph tissue, but also the intestines and liver.

Standard Process Canine Immune Support provides a combination of vitamins, minerals, tissue substrates, and phytochemicals that have an immunomodulatory effect. Standard Process Canine Immune System Support contains four key research-supported ingredients to help support your dogs’ immune system:

o Zinc rice chelate: essential for proper immune system function (zinc deficiency is reported to negatively impact immunity)

o EpiCor: whole food fermentate comprised of proteins, fibers, polyphenols, vitamins, amino acids and beta glucans that have been clinically shown to provide significant immune health benefits

o Vitamin E: an important antioxidant nutrient

o Iodine: from kelp which plays a role in cell function and the physiology of the inflammatory response.

To order your Canine Immune Support for your pet, simply register for your Patient Direct account at standardprocess.com. Please contact me for my access code. As soon as I accept your application, you will be able to place your order. This will allow you to have products conveniently and promptly delivered to your door.

I recommend that your dog stay on Canine Immune Support throughout the winter months or until there is a significant drop in cases.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns. I am happy to help!
