Apparently, Mother Nature does not want us to Release The Red-Tailed Hawk today so the release has been canceled, try again maybe Tuesday.

So on Jan. 10,2024, I had some ladies over in Lewis-Arrbola really concerned about a Small male Hawk Red-Tail they had found in the road. That little burger has been in the incubator and just now he snatched him a white rat right out of my hand! Oops! I bout got Got! Spirit Hawk doing good!

True story, before it got cold SWAPS had got a Call right past Pleasant View Fire Dept(the new one) about a Great Horned Owl. He Had an injury to his eye! That owl managed to get back to his farm. We picked him up, and Ms.Velma (the lady who called him in)told us he had a mate. We did not know then what Dr. Hawman would do for him! So as always a Miracle around the Holidays to share as this Great Horned Owl was released 2 days before Christmas! So Pleasant View your Great Horned Owl has returned!!!Happy New Year!!

And the Lord said unto her, “As you are waiting on me to strengthen you,” remember the words of the prophet Isaiah in Chapter 40, verse 31, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31 NKJV).

One of the important exhortations of the Bible is the call to “wait on the Lord.” Even though God promises special blessings for those who wait, waiting is one of the most difficult exhortations of scripture. Why is it so hard? Because, as a part of fallen humanity, we are so prone to take matters into our own hands and to follow our own schemes. Yet, over and over again we are told in scripture to “wait on the Lord.”

When the storms of life come upon us, we can rise above them by setting our minds and our beliefs toward God.

My Lord reminds me, I mustn't waiver in my faith as I wait. I am to remember, It is not the burdens of life that weigh us down, it is how we handle them. So, let us wait on the Lord and be of good courage.

Yesterday our Master Falconer with Abigail & InAnna gave an hour presentation of what we do here at SWAPS with our Educational Birds. We also left diagrams at The Cortez Cultural Center if anyone wants to know OUR Version of removing Prairie Dogs. They are free. Ya'll they got Coffee,Lattes, and goodies to eat and Gifts!

As we are always Thankful for our Birds of Prey these guys are busy these days and eating a great diet! SWAPS will be in Cortez after the Holidays for a visit with Matt and his class at Southwest Open School! In December our Master Falconer along with some feathered friends will be at a event,a short version of what we do here at the Educational Center for some of the Birdie Festival people in Cortez! I had a young lady walk up to me at the library today. She told me I love to go to Pic N Hoe just to see the Birds of Prey! She made my day! We had a bunch of local kids and some new ones. Everybody asked questions was a great Show! Hope to see yall again come Spring time!

Mr. Littlejohn our Master Falconer and Meep the Great Horned Owl, will be at 1 of our libraries for an after-school program today with some of his Feathered Friends. We are still available for a few more shows or gatherings, The Birds of Prey love to get out and show off!

Doesn't MEEP look MEAN? Must be a Taurus,ol stubborn owl! lol Meep is our Educational Great Horned Owl. He is bout 3 years old and showing signs of Adulthood. He has been very territorial lately, Hoots a lot, and does not like strangers at the moment. So we of course give him his space and continue his diet. Funds are running low here at SWAPS to help feed these beautiful Birds of Prey. Yesterday marked the 3rd year our rehab center has been opened and today a man named Joe saved this Juvenile Osprey. he has a boogered-up wing but we might be able to save it...we will pray we can. We are gonna call him " Tot" found by Totten Lake.....Talk about Beautiful!

On Monday, October the 30th, SWAPS received a call about a hawk. Later on the same day we were contacted and told he expired! Well here it is 3 days later and that same HAWK is here in the incubator! He is ALIVE and eating and standing!!! Wow, what should we name him "Possum" lol?

This is Carolyn, she is a lady who sits on the Birdie Festival board out of Cortez. We, SWAPS did a show for her here at the Education Center in Dove Creek. They want SWAPS in the Mesa Verde Birdie Festival next Spring in May!!! Yay for the Educational Birds!!!!

These are our Educational Owls! They both eat mice and we here at the Center are running low. If anyone would like to HELP FEED you can go to JC Pets in Cortez, tell them you'd like to buy RATS for the owls at SouthWest Avian Protection Service they will fix you up and we would be so STOKED for the donation! Yesterday,we were at the Education Center here in Dove Creek, Colorado and a few folks rode by and asked me if there were birds here to SEE? I said yes ma'am we have birds,she says are y'all open,I said yes ma'am all year long. Right now the Great horned owls are very territoriable so I say be aware and call ahead for a appointment with the Birds of Prey,we are at 970-394-4276 call after 2pm daily,Thank you for caring about the birds

We recently released this beautiful Swainsons Hawk! His name was Star and was released on Rd 7.7 as far back til we had no service, it was an awesome release! He of course has to get on his way to Argentina...Happy Flight Star
