A Clearing -
It seems, in life, there are times where what is not meant for us is swept out. Like a closet full of old clothing we cling to, but know we won’t fit into again- we will never be the same person that once wore this clothes, and so out they must go.
Sometimes there is relief- people and things taking with them the weight of their expectation and unreasonable desires, with their clearing we find more space for ourselves.
Some there is pain, and resistance. Sometimes those we love leave us, sometimes we can never know why.
The loss of a good horse is a pain indescribable, and yet, no matter how we grip, we cannot change the reality- that in life, the only reliable constant is change. Let go or be dragged. You say your goodbyes, shed your tears, and cling to your memories, knowing full well nothing belongs to you, but to the world, and the world takes when she sees fit.
The only action, the only salvation, is to trust the clearing. Trust the empty space. There is no need to panic and fill it as fast as you can, no matter how heavy the silence around you- just for a small moment, sit with it, and hear the echo of your voice into the canyon.
Silence, space, is not your enemy, but your teacher.
