🔸Meet Rosa!🔸
Rosa was recently diagnosed with Kissing Spine in late 2023. Prior to her diagnosis, Rosa was a star polo player and a favorite on the team. Although her time as a polo pony was over, UConn was not ready to give up on her yet.
In January 2024, as part of our Equine Sports Rehabilitation Practicum, we incorporated the Equiband System into Rosa’s rehabilitation plan. This system, designed for use during undersaddle or lunging sessions, consists of two resistance bands that wrap around the horse’s hindquarters and barrel. The bands encourage the horse to lift their abdomen, engage their hind end, and activate their thoracic sling.
Since incorporating the Equiband System from Equibalance, Rosa has become more supple and has made significant progress in using her body correctly and beneficially. Her musculature and temperament have both improved remarkably. Thanks to the Equiband System, Rosa will continue to thrive at UConn, progressing towards a more balanced, healthier, and comfortable lifestyle!

UConn morgan spotted! 2009 UConn Bred, UC Star Above aka Jack was seen at the 2024 Connecticut Morgan Horse Show this weekend. It is always great to see our Morgans out in the world doing awesome things!

UC A Perfect Storm, “Rona”, is a 4-year-old 14.3hh and growing Morgan mare by UVM Abington out of UC Jubilee.
Rona carries the elegance and refinement her pedigree is known for. Rona lunges in tack and longlines/ground drives confidently. She has been lightly started under saddle and is progressing well. She is a quick learner and approaches new challenges bravely.
