It’s National Animal Rights Day! On this day, we want to highlight Dr. Leland Shapiro, who graciously came and spoke about animal ethics to our NENNtorship students. He has been on the board of the Animal Ethics Committee and has written two books on animal ethics that have been taught in universities, including ‘Applied Animal Ethics, Second Revision’ and ‘Introduction to Animal Science.’ Additionally, he was the chair of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Department and an acclaimed professor at Pierce College for 39 years.

Thank you Dr. Shapiro, for all the incredible work you’ve done over the years to raise awareness for animal rights! 👏 🫡 🙏

We had a very fun and successful Ventura County Farm Day at ‘Windy Hill Alpacas!’ This yearly event is thrown to spread awareness about agriculture and farming in Ventura County. 🚜🌾🧑‍🌾👩‍🌾 We love connecting with these passionate community members! 😊🤝

We had an incredible ETI day and horse “showdoeo” event for the community in the Conejo Valley! 🐎

We wanted to involve the community in a fun, educational event about horses and the different events they can do, including different types of riding. We also showcased actual horse teeth and bones. 🐴🦷🦴

Claudia Ragsdale comes to the Nenn team with years of experience in the corporate world where she focused on effectively managing client relationships and delivery teams, developing efficient business operations and marketing practices, and guiding clients to deliver consistent and exceptional customer experiences. As Nenn’s Business Manager she is focused on ensuring the team is operating like a well-oiled machine to provide the highest quality of care and service for Nenn’s clients and their animals. Claudia’s hobbies have included three-day eventing and competing in CrossFit, including a 2024 CrossFit Games appearance.

Everyone show some love for another amazing addition to our team… Dr. Andrew Muir! 👏🏼👨‍⚕️

Dr. Andrew Muir earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and his Master of Science, from Ohio State University. Before joining Nenn Equine, Dr. Muir served as the head surgeon and clinical professor of Farm Animal Medicine & Surgery at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. His professional interests include farm animal surgery, musculoskeletal disease in ruminants, curriculum design, and developing novel treatment strategies for farm animals in the field. In his spare time, Dr Muir enjoys hiking, and adventuring with his wife, Stephanie.
