These clients loved to take their dog for a ride every morning and for lunch every day, but their 7 month old GSD puppy had other plans…. This pup would react to every passing car by throwing himself against the windows, and barking out of control which lead to safety concerns.

They contacted HCC K-9 and this is the result after just 1 private session.

Our trainer established new standards for the puppy and taught the owners how to maintain the standard going forward.

Here is HCC K-9’s own Kyle a 16 week old GSD, starting his explosive scent detection work.

We have begun using a Behavior Shaping Device (BSD), with ScentLogix TNT to begin imprinting. He will eat like this for at least one or more of his meals each day. We will mark when he performs the desired behavior of “entering the tube” where we keep the scent secured in the bottom and then begin to move out from there.

Once he has mastered this scent we will then build on the behaviors he knows to introduce more until he has mastered all scents in the explosives kit.
🐾
Time and Discipline are what you will need to see results doing scent work. Keep it fun for them and you! You can both get easily burnt out, but remember to always end on something positive making your dog always wanting more!

Here at HCC K9 we’re all about starting our furry friends out young! In this video, we worked with 15 week old Kong on obedience and an intro to protection work. For the younger ones, it’s all about early engagement and having a strong foundation to build on. Props to Kong’s handler Rocco for all of the work he puts in day in and day out to make sure this guy is a rockstar.
