nders that can no longer be cared for, provide a safe place until a permanent home can be found to those that need fostering and give those that need it, a forever home. Any donation amount is greatly appreciated, and no amount donated is too small. Every cent donated is put back into our costs to cover feed, special diet requirements, hay, vet bills, dental and farrier services. Today we had to say goodbye to Brownie. When foaling, we knew something wasn’t right and we had to quickly pull her baby that was unfortunately, stillborn. The labor was really hard and just too much on her and our vet confirmed what we already knew, we had to say our goodbyes. We were with her when she crossed over the rainbow bridge. Momma and baby will be buried here together.

It was a rough day today. Went down to the barn this morning to feed and found Star on the ground. She was shaking and trying to get up and by time I got up to the house to call the vet and came back to check on her, she passed. I hope the time she had with us was joyful and relaxing as she had been abandoned for over 6 months in a field when we rescued her. Run free girl and let the wind whip through that beautiful mane of yours.

Pegasus, be still my heart, was a prince like always and then there is Jake my Belgium sale barn rescue, giving me the stink eye. Jake is not talking to me right now.

Lenny swore he didn’t eat any of the horse’s pumpkins this morning. Not sure I believe him.

Meet Jake y’all. A friend of our rescue, Maranie, sent us an SOS on this 3 yr old boy being sold to the first buyer on 9/29 or face being shipped to Mexico for dog food and we couldn’t let that happen. That is the ugly side of direct shippers. Jake has a injured leg/hoof and a nasty cough so the vet will be here sooner rather than later to check him out. He is being quarantined and given some much needed alfalfa as I type this. This Belgium youngun’ needs to be gelded. He’s not feeling that perky however who knows what he could have picked up while in transport from Kentucky to Bowie with 20 other horses. More pics to come and a status update once the vet does a thorough work up. Thank you Cat for transporting this baby home to us, you are a good friend. Thank you for making this happen, it sometimes takes a village to save a life and we appreciate all of you for letting us share our journey and more importantly, Jake’s new beginning here at Lost Creek Draft Horse Rescue.

Bought a few rounds.They could smell it in the wind and hence, came charging. :-)
