Our journey started with a small training studio located above our current space. In those early days, we focused on providing training services and recommending products to support our clients in achieving their training goals. However, week after week, we heard the same challenge: they hadn’t had time to visit a store to purchase the recommended items.
To help bridge that gap, we began carrying a small selection of essential items, purchased online and sold at cost. Clients appreciated the convenience, often buying the products the same day and returning to their next session with noticeable progress and greater confidence. Seeing the positive impact, we expanded our inventory and established wholesale accounts, enabling us to offer a broader range of items at competitive prices.
Around the same time, our parrot rescue gained momentum as more relinquished parrots came into our care. It became clear that we needed a larger space—not just for the rescue, but also for inventory and, most importantly, to provide a ground-level location that made it easier for our clients to access our services. With that, TaylerMade Training and Pet Supplies was born.

Supporting Your Dog During Rocket Launches: A Guide for Pet Owners
With the increasing number of rocket launches scheduled in the coming year, many pet owners in our community are understandably concerned about how these events might affect their dogs. The loud noises and vibrations can be terrifying for our furry friends, leading to anxiety and fear. As a professional dog trainer, I want to offer some guidance on how to best support your pets during these unsettling times.
Understanding Your Dog’s Fear
First, it’s important to recognize that fear is a natural response for dogs in the face of loud, unfamiliar noises like those from a rocket launch. The goal isn’t to eliminate fear completely but to help your dog feel as safe and secure as possible.
Should You Comfort a Scared Dog?
A common question is whether comforting a scared dog reinforces their fear. The simple answer is no. Offering comfort does not make their fear worse. If your dog seeks out your attention or physical touch, it’s okay to provide it. Your calm and reassuring presence can actually help them feel more secure.
Is It Okay to Give Treats?
Yes, giving your dog treats during a stressful event like a rocket launch is not only okay but can be beneficial. Using treats can help create a positive association with the noise over time. You’re not reinforcing the fear; you’re helping them cope by providing a distraction and a positive experience.
Does Your Presence Matter?
Your presence can make a big difference. If possible, stay home during a launch to offer comfort and monitor your dog’s behavior. However, if you have to leave, make sure your dog has a safe, quiet space where they feel secure. Playing calming music or using a white noise machine can help mask the sounds from outside.
Other Tips for Managing Anxiety:
• Create a Safe Space: Designate a quiet room or area with familiar items like their bed or favorite toys.
• Use Anxiety Aids: Consider anxiety wraps, calming sp

Check out the end of our loose leash lesson with MJ. She caught on to the stay by my side without leash pressure. In an effort to keep her from getting bored, and keep me as the exciting person while a dog was behind us, we switched our focus to luring with food without her jumping up for it. We are capturing the moments with our “YES” marker word when her feet stay on the ground. We only release the treat when she can do a series of steps without jumping.
🐾 Quick Training Tip: Leash Walking 🐾
Struggling with leash pulling? Here’s a simple tip: Stop walking when your dog pulls and only move forward when the leash is slack. This teaches your dog that pulling gets them nowhere!
Check out this quick video demonstration to see it in action! 🎥 The beginning of teaching and learning is always messy, don’t expect perfection in the start. Aim for 70% before making anything harder. Keep an eye out for the end of our lesson in the next video.
Try this at home and see the difference!
