I am not taking new clients at this time. With all the shop closures I am overwhelmed trying to keep up with not only my existing clients, but also trying to help dogs that badly need to be groomed. If you call or text, please be patient. I will get back to you, it might be a day or so. Also, I am not taking new large dog clients, as it is very difficult to work on them in the confined space of my trailer. Thank you everyone for your patience and please stay safe.

An estimated 1 billion animals are now believed to have been killed by Australia’s wildfires. Yet, animal rights groups are taking advantage of this environmental tragedy by asking for money from sympathetic donors who may not even be aware of the fact that their money might not be helping animals...

As a groomer...... I try to educate people about why doodles need more grooming than other types of dogs. They are a mix of 2 different breeds. Two breeds that should never be combined. 1 shedding double coated breed and 1 poodle, a hair coat. The shedding coat hair dies and falls into the curl of the hair coat and creates mats. The matting spreads. The poodle coat is cut and trimmed for a reason. The shedding coat is left long to protect the dog for a reason. Two very different coat types being combined together usually result in disaster, especially when not taken care of properly. These dogs should be groomed every 4-8 weeks depending on length and type of coat. Starting at 8 weeks. (Doubling the doodle doesn’t make it better. From a groomer’s stand point it makes it worse.) . The matting was so bad on one dog it affected his movement, because the hair is all connected in someway due to mats. I’m disappointed in the breeders of these types of dogs who combined coats, have no knowledge to pass on to the people buying them. They still shed, require more maintenance and money than a purebred to keep groomed, and they are NOT hypoallergenic. Sorry but it just really ticks me off when I get dogs in like this and people are still breeding them for money. There’s no other reason to breed doodles.

The following is a post from another groomer, and I wanted to share as I feel it a very clear and accurate comment regarding mixed breeds, specifically "doodles". I understand that doodles can be sweet, and it's fun to walk around with such a unique looking that's dog sure to capture attention, but the reality of the maintenance required may be more than the average dog owner is willing to commit too.

"I’ve been helping a friend with her grooming shop while she looks for a full-time groomer. I live in a area where Doodles seem to be extremely popular, and lack of knowledge and care for their messed up coats appears to be nonexistent.

I had a gal come in with two huge doodles that she wanted groomed so they could be in the family Christmas card pictures. Their coat wasn’t salvageable at all and I doubt either made it into the pic after I got done. They had to have a complete shave down that was very time consuming and I’m sure painful at times for these poor dogs.

I get why folks like them...but they’re being sold a lie. And nearly all I’ve had to groom have required complete shave downs as I no longer will even attempt to save the coat. It’s not fair to the dog. Most of them are in very poor condition by the time the owners make an appt. 😕".

As a groomer...... I try to educate people about why doodles need more grooming than other types of dogs. They are a mix of 2 different breeds. Two breeds that should never be combined. 1 shedding double coated breed and 1 poodle, a non-shedding hair coat. The shedding doesn’t stop, dead hair falls into the curl of the hair coat and mats. The matting spreads. The poodle coat is cut and trimmed for a reason. The shedding coat is left long to protect the dog for a reason. Two very different coat types being combined together usually result in disaster, especially when not taken care of properly. Sorry but it just really ticks me off when I get dogs in like this and people are still breeding them for money. There’s no other reason to breed doodles. Even the person who created the first doodles has publically stated that they are aware that it was a mistake and regrets for ever creating them.

Please note that with the beginning of the hot weather, there may be some rescheduling due to storms. Working in a small metal trailer during thunderstorms can be dangerous to me and your furry family member. I will make every effort to make sure that any cancellations are rescheduled in a timely manner. I thank you for your understanding.

I owe an apology to my customers. After barely being able to complete my morning appointments, I had an emergency trip to the doctor, who diagnosed me with a severe inner ear infection in both ears, and sinus infection, which is causing me to experience vertigo and nausea.
I had to cancel my appointments as I cant drive or even stand very long.
I am taking several medications and expect to be back on track soon.
I will be scheduling make up appointments, and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

I wanted to share a happy and exciting development in my personal life. As some of you know, I raise and show a couple of French hound breeds, Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen (PBGV or Petits) and Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen (GBGV or Grands). I have raised several AKC Champions and all are beloved family members. Here is a peek at the new babies in my life. In this video, the babies are 19 days old, and are just starting to toddle about. I am there when my pups are born and I spend a lot of time with them. Pups are born and raised in my home, using a protocol similar to the process used for guide dogs, a process that starts at day 1. This ensures that the pups are used to all kinds of sights and sounds, and grow into well socialized, outgoing, happy and loving companions. Dogs have always been my passion in life.

Bad storms took two of the baby mocking birds, the third was left cold, hungry and alone. I left the baby in what was left of the nest, and waited for the parents to come. After several hours, and the sun went down, I brought the baby inside and offered him a meal. Fast forward to day 2, baby is safe and growing. I think we will call it Jem (after Scouts older brother, TKAM)at least until it is old enough to go free.

Here is a very interesting read about dog food and its link to heart disease in our dogs and cats.

http://vetnutrition.tufts.edu/2018/06/a-broken-heart-risk-of-heart-disease-in-boutique-or-grain-free-diets-and-exotic-ingredients/

A recent increase in heart disease in dogs eating certain types of diets may shed light on the role of diet in causing heart disease. It appears that diet may be increasing dogs’ risk for heart disease because owners have fallen victim to the many myths and misperceptions about pet food.

About me

My name is Cindy Wilt and I started Shaggy Chic Mobile Pet Spa because grooming and working with pets is my passion.

I decided to to go mobile because, when I was a child, I remember how stressed our family dogs were when it came time to go to the grooming salon, and how much time they had to spend there.

Your pet will be treated to a relaxing, one on one, grooming experience, free from cages, and the smells and sounds associated with fear and stress from other pets.

Each pet is thoughtfully groomed from start to finish, and I take the time with every pet to ensure they have a happy, positive and relaxing experience.
