Yogi and his mama just completed their 5th lesson with me today & the results truly reflect the work that they’ve put in. This was his first time at a coffee shop, around quite a few dogs. With lots of guidance and advocating from the owner, Yogi chose to relax and not choose, frenchie violence.

There’s still some work that needs to be done, and consistency to be had, but all in all I am SO proud of this little frenchie and his owners.

‼️👇🏼IMPORTANT LESSON BELOW👇🏼‼️
When I first started working with them, another trainer had put Yogi on a prong but did NOT properly train the owners how to use it. They were nervous and scared of the tool which led them to immediately stop using it. They were hesitant when I mentioned trying it again, but after educating them on the tool they gave it another shot. This tool has now become their favorite collar to use and have seen an insane difference with it. If you are an owner who has been given a tool to use but weren’t taught how to properly use it, you’re not alone. You just need to find a trainer who will take the time to actually show you and build your confidence up as well 🫶🏼

I haven’t formally introduced Suki yet so here we go!

Suki is only 4 months old, but her fear based behaviors have already started seeping in quite a bit. If she is insecure/ scared about a situation or person, she is ready to bite anything or anyone to make the “problem” go away. We’ve been heavily working on her confidence and looking to me for guidance, so she doesn’t feel like she has to bite to make a situation better. I have worked on giving her structure and boundaries, and within a week she had her *click* moment that helped her training come along pretty nicely.

Suki will be joining me the rest of the week at the livestock events center meeting new people and gaining new skills. She heads home in a week, and I’m confident in her that she will be able to work through the rest of her fear based reactions.

Little Miss Violet is on week 2 of her 3 week board and train and is doing phenomenal.

We’ve been working hard on her problem behaviors such as: jumping, pulling, spacial disrespect, separation anxiety, etc. She’s been like a sponge and has soaked up her training well - all while leaving all of her puppy s***k and cute personality.

I’m looking forward to see how far she can get by the time she goes home 🫶🏼

Ever wonder what tools to start with on your dog? A slip lead? Prong collar? Treats? Figure 8?E-Collar? Harness?

I’ll tell ya…

It’s understanding how to properly communicate with your dog. Learning your dogs cues. Understanding their triggers. Using situational awareness and back up for them to feel comfortable & confident in you. Your body language. Your energy… shall I go on?

External tools are great. Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE my external tools. But if you don’t understand your dog, how to read them, their issues, how to communicate with them, etc. your external tools are as good as the ones that are still on the shelf at the pet store.

On top of that, knowing which external tools are even right for your dog is MAJOR. The common denominator though is that you have to understand YOUR DOG. Not your neighbors dog. Not your trainers dog. YOUR DOG. What works for one’s dog, might not work for yours.

Knowing the right external tool to use for an insecure reactive dog, a dominant dog, aggressive dog, and so on and so forth is important. Also, knowing if the dog can handle corrections without shutting down or redirecting? Is it treat motivated? Does it respond to leash pressure over anything else?

The last bit, is using the tools CORRECTLY. If you’re not using them correctly, well that doesn’t help anyone.

Know. Your. Dog.
Know. Your. Tools.
Know. How. To. Use. Your. Tools.

After that, then we can figure everything else out and get everyone to a good place.

I love seeing my clients dogs live their best life after working so hard to accomplish a balanced brain and lifestyle.

Snowy here was one of my hardest cases but greatest successes. Her owners do a heck of a good job keeping up with her training, to be able to do all the things they love to do and be able to include their dog(s).

22/03/2023

This is one of the reasons I am ALWAYS preaching to get your dog into a follow state of mind & to advocate for your dog constantly. Once your dog looks to you for direction and surrenders their control or decision making to you, you will have a much happier animal. We expect our dogs to be able to navigate this MASSIVE human world and know right from wrong without showing them? Nah, that's just not fair to them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now when I say surrender, I am not talking about creating a submissive animal that is scared of you, or hesitant towards you and your actions. We are not talking about that. We just want the dog to be able to fully put their trust and faith into us so they can BE A DOG and just relax.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Giving your dog rules, structure, boundaries, etc. will help that dog feel more safe & secure but also... NOT AS STRESSED OUT.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let me put it into perspective this way; when you are in your home town, or the country you live in, the laws and regulations are clear to you and you feel safe because 99% of people follow those rules and regulations. Now allow the Purge to happen and everyone feels scared, unsafe, uneasy, and desperate for the laws and regulations to be reinstated so everything goes back to normal and is safe again. You feel more at ease when you know that these written and moral laws are in place to keep you safe... right?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, think about that for your dog. If they're allowed to do whatever they want, whenever they want, however, etc. their brain won't be able to handle that for long before craving some sort of structure, direction, safety, etc.

‼️ATTENTION CLIENTS‼️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I will be offering Limitless Explorations again starting NEXT WEEK!
What are Limitless Explorations you ask? Well.... this was a service I offered when I very first started & it helped numerous dogs with their training & exercise.
I take the dog's out and work on certain things, depending on what their issues and goals are & we get exercise during that time as well.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your dog's exploration day might look like a walk around the marina, working on obedience in Scheels, going to home depot or lowes, coffee shop dog work at a local coffee shop, relaxing at the Eddy to get them used to environments like that, or maybe even going to Tahoe for the day to run and swim in the warmer months. The Reno/Tahoe area has SO MANY awesome amenities that we can take advantage of. Pretty much what we do on Exploration Days, is what I used to do with my Board & Trains to get them out and about.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These days last a few hours per session and come with a follow up with the owner.
If you are interested in this program, please contact me via DM, Phone Call or Email!

My goal for you this week is to take the time that you would scrolling aimlessly through social media, and put that time towards your dog instead.

1:1 intentional & structured time is going to help you bond with your dog SO MUCH MORE than letting it sleep on your bed, eat your human food, etc.

THINGS YOU CAN DO:
-go for a walk
-focus exercises
-obedience
-tricks
-leash manners
-tug
-confidence building
-hide and seek
-etc!

Just have FUN with it!

Hi Friends!

I have some new faces here so I thought I would do another introduction of myself.

🐾 My name is Aubrey, I am a Nevada Native, born n' raised here in Reno. I wanted to leave at some point, but I kept getting sucked back in.

🐾 I started Limitless Canine right at the beginning of the COVID outbreak in May of 2020.

🐾 I have been training dogs just shy of 10 years now.

🐾 I own Lone Desert Boutique as well, it's a Womens' Western Boutique.

🐾 2021/2022 changed my life. I found out I had been misdiagnosed and battling Lymes Disease for approx. 10 years or so. In 2021, My body decided to slow me down by literally knocking me on my a**. 3 weeks ago I officially went into remission after a 6 week intense treatment.

🐾 I believe everything happens for a reason.

🐾 Music is an escape for me, whether it's listening to it or creating it myself.

🐾 I sing and play guitar. I was a band geek from 6th - 12th grade and loved every moment of it.

🐾 I didn't graduate college, I dropped out to train dogs full time with my old mentor. I can confidently say it was a solid decision.

🐾 My training style and outlook of dogs has changed quite a bit in the past few months. There are things I used to believe in that I laugh at now, and visa versa.

🐾 I feel most at peace when I am in the mountains, next to a stream meditating or reading a book.

🐾 I believe your only competition is the person you were yesterday and that helps keep me accountable daily.

🐾 I have major RBF so most people think I am mean but I promise it's just my face.

That's it for now! Thanks for following and supporting my small biz!

No one person is the same, right? We all learn different, talk different, act different, etc.

So why would we expect any different with our dogs?

The moment your dog is born, everything around them influences who they are going to become, just like a person. Whether they were rescued from an abusive situation, or you picked them up from the breeder at 8 weeks old... they are still going to grow into their own being.

With every mistake, triumph, learning moment, training session, your dog is changing.

As living beings (dogs or people), some are quirkier, smarter, more tolerant, more athletic, etc. Some of are dull, ditzy, quick to snap, couch potatoes, etc... AND THATS OKAY! Our personalities make us who we are, and bring us closer to those that LOVE who we are.

Your dog doesn't need to be a perfect, outstanding animal for you to love. No, you love the little things about them that make them who they are. Our dogs are not going to be identical to our neighbors dogs, our siblings dogs, or even our other dogs and thats perfect in its self.

So love the dog you have, embrace them for who they are... cause they love you for who you are!

Happy Memorial Weekend Friends ❤️🤍💙
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Please remember during this weekend that dogs hear nearly twice as many frequencies as humans do &&& they can hear sounds 4X further away than humans can.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That being said, fireworks, sparklers and poppers are popular celebratory items (if allowed in your area) and they can create stress, anxiety and hearing issues for some dogs. It is common for dogs to try to bolt from the noise, runaway, burry themselves under beds, etc. Unfortunately there are a lot of missing cases due to fireworks on this holiday.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If your pup struggles when it comes to loud noises and to avoid possible issues, please make sure you do the following for them:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
-get them as much fulfillment & exercise in as you can to try to help them be more tired and relaxed before the festivities.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
-keep them away from anyone using these items & as far away from the noises as possible. Try to pick a quiet room.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
-if they are most comfortable in a kennel, UTILIZE THAT.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
-try to distract them with a yummy treat. I like to stuff a beef trachea with a small amount of JIF PB, add some kibble, mix in some other raw meat and freeze it. You can also do this with a toppl!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
-do NOT pet while they are shaking, barking, etc. that keeps them stuck in that state of mind… it DOES NOT comfort them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That being said I hope everyone has a very safe & fun Memorial Weekend. I am thankful for all of those that have served for our beautiful Red White & Blue. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten. Land of the Free, Because of the Brave ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸

Meet Akari! 😍
I’ve had this cutie pie for a little over a week now, so I guess it’s time to introduce him!

This 2 1/2-year-old is a mix between a Belgian Malinois, Border Collie & Husky and quite honestly he’s one of the most chill dogs I’ve met.

Akari is with me for a five week program to work through his dog issues and some other behavioral issues. He bit his owners, parents dog over crumbs and he can be reactive. I have definitely seen some of the reactivity, and it’s mostly because he’s only using his eyes to recognize the situation/ dog- instead of using all of his common sense. (Nose = 60% of brains info, Ears = 25% & Eyes = 15%).

It has taken a little bit for him to want to bond with us, but after our adventure up to Boca today, we’ve got a pretty tight relationship now. Even after just a week, he still trusted me enough to have him on a long lead swimming with the other dogs.

I’m excited to see how he does over the next few weeks. It’s really rare I bring dogs out and about before the third week of their B&T but, I ended up doing things different with this guy for a few different reasons.

Keep up with his pupdates on my stories!

Happy Graduation Loba! 🎉

While doing Loba’s go home session, I was really happy to see how engaged the entire family was, including the kids. What made me even happier was to see how excited they were when she responded to them. Sometimes it’s hard to get people to follow through with the training after the dog goes home but, when they do follow through that means the world to me but especially the dog.

I’m excited to see how she grows with her family and to see them keep up with everything. Loba is a tough dog but I know her family’s got this 💪🏼

Everyone meet Mufasa! 🦁

This goober is here for my intensive training program (6-20 weeks) to work on his E N T I R E self.

Mufasa has learned over the ONE year of his life that if he growls, and snaps that the person will back away and leave him alone. This mentality has transferred to his food, doing obedience, walking on leash, etc etc etc. Almost anything you can think of, this is his reaction if he doesn’t want to do it.

He has taken over the Leader position in the household and redirects onto the older rottie they have if he gets overly excited or reactive. He will p*e all over the house, disrespect his owner, and chase the cat and more. He has killed two chickens and has massive prey drive towards the cat as well.

With all of this though, I have really grown fond of him so far just in the past couple days I’ve had him. Once he was taken out of his environment he realized the world is MUCH bigger than he thought and I can already see him looking to me for direction. He has no idea how to be a real dog, or how to follow a person but I think he really wants to try. Something else I’ve done for him is switch his food to higher quality food to start working on weight gain and brain function. I feel like the lack of nutrition has added to his behaviors as well. I switched him form Pedigree to Nutri Source.

So, for Mufasa… I’m not sure how long he will be here for since he’s in the longest program I have, but keep your eyes out to follow his transformation! I’m very excited for this guy 🖤

How do I do place work with all of them off leash? I direct each command to a specific dog by using their name.

when we first start, everything is done on leash and you simply guide the dogs with the leash and say “Milo, place“ “Coco, break“ so on and so forth.

Once they get used to you saying their names in an addressing manner, you can start doing their obedience, place work, recall and really whatever else as a group but individualized.

I have been using e-collars on the dogs to solidify their obedience, recall and place work. This has been helping tremendously with their training as well.

The kennel is one of the most misunderstood tools, right next to the prong collar & e-collar. That’s right, I said it.

SO often do I get told “ Well I feel like a kennel is like a jail for dogs.” Uuuhhh helllooo, it helps keep your dog safe, your home safe from destruction AND it keeps all the training that you’ve done safe. What do I mean by that?

When your dog is in their kennel, they’re supposed to be cool, calm and collected. They’re supposed to be relaxed just like a human would be in their bedroom. Nothing bad is supposed to happen in the kennel, it’s not supposed to just be used for “punishment“. When they are RELAXED in their kennel, they are not practicing any other bad habits.

The kennel helps when your dog needs to go take a chill pill, or to have them hang out there while you’re at work so they don’t counter surf and eat some chocolate or rip up your favorite couch and choke. A kennel is supposed to be for creating good structure, boundaries and respect for you and the home.

These aren’t ALL of the rules, but they are the most important. Practice these and your dog will become a pro going in and out of kennel. It might take some practice and it will definitely take some patience, but it’s worth it.

A few other tips I have are:
-Feed your dog in their kennel, this creates a boundary for them, but also it helps them enjoy their kennel more and helps create a positive association.

-If you work from home, put your dog in the kennel periodically throughout the day just so they can rest.

-Make sure you give your puppy naptime, and what’s a more perfect place to do that than the kennel?

-If your dog is showing separation anxiety by being vocal, let them work through it. If you give into it, all they are going to think is to get you to come into the room… they just have to throw a fit about it. (This too may take some time and patience.)

Hope you enjoyed these tips!
Good luck 💚

Lil miss graduated today & I am soooo proud of her.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Snowy was one of the rare dogs that I had to send home before her board and train was finished. She was here last September and just came back two weeks ago to finish out her training. When I sent her home, I sent her back with a list of rules, boundaries and structure that they needed to follow with her. If it weren’t for their follow through during the time she was home, her return here would not have been so seamless.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because of their hard work, I was able to focus everything on her off leash training and touch up on things here and there.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m excited to see the adventures she gets to go on with her owners and the rest of their family. ❤️❤️

Amaajii is back for 6 weeks while her owner recovers from a surgery. She decided to put her through another board and train to work on more advanced skills and a couple other issues that she’s been having.

Stay tuned to stories and posts, you’ll be seeing this cute face a lot!

19/04/2022

When I got Milo in, I noticed how food obsessed he was. He even started resource guarding it towards other dogs and gave me the side eye a couple times while putting my hand near the bowl. After seeing all of this, I started to hand feed him until he was more respectful over his food and then I switched him to the slow feed bowl. This was to help with his behaviors, his respect with food and his weight loss.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Slow feed bowls are one of my favorite tools to use for dogs that need a bit more respect for food, or need to just chill while eating.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not only is it a great tool for brain activity and making feeding time more of a challenge, these bowls are designed to prevent bloat, throwing up from eating too quickly (which Milo did do) and it can help with weight loss.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A lot of dogs wolf down an entire cup of kibble in .5 seconds (yes slight exaggeration) so they aren’t really chewing their food, thinking about how full they are, or how irritated their stomach might be. Behavior wise, mowing down on their food quickly might be a symptom of resource guarding as well. This bowl makes the dog slow their brain down to where they aren’t so heightened and obsessive and think about what they’re doing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have a dog that needs a slow feed bowl? You can find these bowls at Marshall’s, TJ Maxx, Local pet stores and other places!
