This is Miss Olive, I trim her brother Ozzies nails but Olive has an extreme amount of nail trim anxiety. Something happened in Olive's world where nail trimming became the thing of her nightmares, so she has a lot of trauma.
We did originally try slow and steady to do her nails as we do her brothers but unfortunately her anxiety level was too high that it was crossing into an unsafe territory, your dogs stress and anxiety levels are always going to be my main priority so if I feel like it is too much for them and we are adding to the trauma or fear aggression is starting to come out, we always want to watch for those signs stop immediately and reevaluate the situation.
Because nail care is so so important her family had to come up with a solution, when medicating and having them put under for nail trims is not an option you have to think of alternatives and here is a super fun one!
Scratch Pads 🐾
This is such a fun way for your dogs to trim their own nails, it works as sandpaper on a board with a box that opens with snacks! It gives your dogs incentive to scratch and scratch at the pad to be able to open the box and retrieve their treat.
This is a Anxiety Stress Free alternative to dog nail clippers and the dremel, it allows your dogs to play while filing their nails and getting a reward, because they have to figure out how to open this it's also great for their memory and mental stimulation.
This is Olives first time trying and she's doing really well, using this board requires alot of patience on our end, schedules and repetition.
As our dogs are also learning how to use this so are we! Slow and steady wins the race, some dogs will pick up on this very fast right from the get-go and others take a little bit longer but that is completely okay, as long as it is getting done progress is always progress no matter how slow no matter how many times you have to start over.
This is definitely such a fun alternative for
Mr Oakley our little Boxin Dachshin 🎃
Enjoying his winnings for this year's Costume Contest 🧡
Oakley always has such a fun time going through his prizes, eating his snacks first of course but he never forgets to share his candy with his Hooman Kids 🎃
Again thank you so much to everyone who participated, I had such a fun time looking at all the photos rolling in.

Anyone else have a cat that was raised by a pack of dogs and fully believes he is one of them. I swear I have even heard him bark 😂
This is Humboldt he's a little over 2yrs, we let our dogs raise him and he goes on walks with us every night, no matter where we go he is there following behind.

Lizard King.
If Bearded Dragons were in the wild like many are they were not require nail trims as the surface that they live on is mainly desert and rocks with how active they would be they would be filing their nails down themselves but since we have domesticated them some do require monthly or routine nail trims to ensure that they do not get caught or stuck on anything or curl into them just like a dogs if not cut routinely and beardies nails can also become very sharp and do grow into a point, cutting their nails often can help with handling to ensure that you do not get scratched.
Many bearded dragon owners have tile at the bottom of their enclosure the tile ensures that your bearded dragon should be moving frequently enough to file down their own nails, in my case we have a bioactive tank meaning it resembles his habitat that he would have in the wild although we do have rocks and things for him to climb his nails do not naturally file down.
Bearded Dragons have a "quick" just like dogs and cats that's the vein inside their nail.
So if you do plan to trim their nails, please make sure you are knowledgeable in this process so you do not hurt your scaly friend.
This is Falkor or The Lizard King, he is a 3yr old beardie and part of our Mayhem pack, I trim his nails about every 6 months or so just to insure his safety and ours when cuddling (beardies are so sweet and they do love to be held and cuddle)
Did you know I also trim reptiles nails!
Turtles and Beardies I see most often.
Any questions! Just ask 💚
