Buns fresh out of the oven -- ready now!
Velveteen Lop rabbits in a holding area waiting to show at the 101st ARBA National Convention in Louisville, KY. Velveteens are a rare rabbit breed in development and Tuesday marks the first of three formal evaluations for us.
We're preparing the Velveteen Lop bunnies for @american_rabbit_breeders National Convention: table training, extra grooming, and making final selections for our show team. It's like the rabbit Met Gala. Last year more than 20k rabbits and thousands of people attended!

Can't get over Mint's tiny back marking! Too cute!
Productivity is down today 📉
This little bunny is in her bald era and her ears are all askew too!
More baby rabbit care 🍼👶: this bunny has temporary hair loss associated with the rex fur gene. It's a relatively common phase in rex development, doesn't cause harm, and grows back quickly.
Rabbits (as well as kittens and puppies) are born blind and deaf and are susceptible to eye infections at 10-12 days when their eyes open. As a rabbit caretaker it's important to monitor eye health in little ones.
Socializing a week old litter of Velveteen Lops bunny rabbits. (Not all mother rabbits tolerate people playing with their offspring.) We've found that accustoming rabbits to being handled from a young age makes for friendlier and far more confident adults.
This evening we're checking a nest of newborn bunnies just 72 hours old. Mom built a beautiful nest for her babies, using fur from her underside to provide a warm and soft bed for them. We're looking for full tummies, wrinkles filling out, and sleepy stretches.
