Please keep Mikey in your prayers. While helping another farmer friend load his animals Mikey was bitten by a timber rattlesnake. We got him to the ER, they ran full test X-ray, MRI & Ultrasound, and because of his health they also did EKG. He had red/purple bruising all around the bite area. He was given antivenom. He's now on high dose antibiotics for 10 days and will need another ultrasound done in 10 days.

Thank you all for your support. ❤️

It is with a very heavy heart that I have to report that my right-hand farm woman, my friend, my "Don't give up!" when I most want to, my "We can do this!", Wynona, has died. She was only in her late 30's. I think she would approve of me sharing this warning with all of you.

I remember about 8 months back when she started telling me about how badly she was bleeding. It was horrible. We'd be working on the farm together, and there would be puddles of blood. Some days, it would look like a murder scene. She'd clean everything up and keep going. Eventually, she couldn't come to the farm because she'd bleed so much that she'd get lightheaded. That's dangerous on a farm, and she'd never want to risk us or her kids.

After a few weeks of bleeding, she called me and asked if I'd ever had anything like this happen. Guys, us girls talk...sorry. I explained that I had bled like that in the past. I had a benign cyst removed with a DNC, and everything has been fine since. I encouraged her to go to the doctor about it. She went.

She'd gone to the emergency room because she didn't have insurance. She called me that night on the way home. She'd been bleeding like this for about a month without a break. The male ER doctor had given her an education on women's bodies and let her know that we bleed every month for a different range of days and flows. My friend was PI**ED and so was I.

A couple of months later, still bleeding the whole time, her daughter and I got her to go again. A different male ER doctor gave her the same lesson, but he also added that sometimes women in their late 30s start to develop irregular cycles. She was done. They made her feel stupid and dismissed.

By the next month, believe it or not, the bleeding had increased. We didn't think it could, but now she was bleeding so badly that she was passing out from the loss of blood. Her daughter was the only one who could convince her to go back and try again. This time, there was a female doctor in the ER that night. She called me, SOBBING, and said, "Becky, I have cancer."

They sold her on all the chemo and radiation that she could take. They told her that it was treatable and that she would be back to herself as soon as her treatments were over. She wasn't. She wasn't ever back to herself. She was in tremendous pain, dealing with infections, and lethargic. Her partner lost his job caring for her putting them in a worse situation. Her family is a mess, and she's gone.

Friends, we have lived in these bodies for a LONG time. We KNOW when something isn't right. We need to stand up for ourselves and KEEP standing up for ourselves until someone listens!! Don't wait!! When you know, you KNOW. Take up for yourself. Have a voice. Don't accept someone telling you about your body or dismissing your concerns. SPEAK UP in honor of my friend Wynona. Please remember her name, remember this face when something like this happens in your life. 💔

Please pray for Ralph & the kids ❤️😭

🚨Dog Hunters!! 🚨

With hunting season around the corner we know many of you will begin using dogs to hunt. We have a deep amount of respect for those that take this sport seriously and do so responsibly. This isn’t for you…

If you run dogs and your dogs run onto farm land, be aware of the guardian dogs that live there! Our Pyrenees are very sweet! They play, they love, they are safe around our kids but…. They take their job very seriously when it comes to protecting the animals on our farm.

They kill predators regularly.

And they absolutely will kill your hunting dog if it comes onto the property.

If they bark and the dog doesn’t leave they perceive this as a threat and WILL protect the other animals.

Although we have never given permission for anyone to run dogs on our farm every year we have hunting dogs travel through. And every year we have some loss of life.

For the safety of your dog please be aware of the farms they may be around before running them! No one wants to see a dog get hurt! We want everyone to have a safe hunting season.

We have taken greater measures to upgrade our fencing. 7Ft walls with 10ft 6x6 every 8 feet buried 3ft deep with steel pannels, barbed wire and electric fence.

Anyone who has been to the farm has seen the hundreds of feet of new fencing compared to the old fencing. However we still have over 10,000 feet to replace with the new layout. The new layout cost is $230 per 16ft. That's not including the time labor and tractor usage.

Happy hunting!

We are in desperate need of some hay. Our fields have been rained out this year after being freshly planted for the last two years. We need about 50 bales of hay We only buy our hay locally from another amazing friend. Christy Parker Pine Haven Stables & Riding Academy

Hay is $8 a bale. We do have the trailers to transport if anyone on our pathway that needs hay we can drop you off a few.

Mr. Rooster, our very first and longest resident on the farm, has passed. He went peacefully in his sleep last night just a few months shy of his 10th birthday.

As he aged, his black turned to lighter gray, and his lighter colors turned to gold. I guess it's kind of like our hair turning colors as we age, but I've never seen it in as dramatic of a scale as his. You would think the pictures are of 2 separate birds, but it was just Mr. Rooster's age showing up. He didn't visit schools because he was an old man and we wanted to keep his life consistent, but he loved kids...especially Brookie who came to visit him over the years. (Misti Blu and Brooks Wilmes)

Mr. Rooster was always in the welcoming committee and first in line for treats. Leave a window open, and you could expect Mr. Rooster to be in bed with you when you woke up in the morning. He loved his people, and we sure loved him. Rest easy, Mr. Rooster. We'll see you on the other side. 💔

One of the calls we get every day at this time of year is hunters asking to hunt on our land. We are all for hunting. We are hunters ourselves. And while we have the land to hunt on and while we would love to accommodate our insurance company doesn't allow it.

We are sorry we can't accommodate you, we know most areas are still suffering from the storms and some hunting grounds are a complete mess but unfortunately this is something we can't help with.

However maybe it's something we can look forward to in the future.

Thank you for your understanding.

Say hello to our newest member of the family! Everyone meet Rip. He comes home tomorrow!

It's been a sad morning on the farm. We lost one of our long-time residents overnight last night. Winnie the pig came to live with us at Christmas in 2019. She and her adult daughter (Georgia) were Mikey's Christmas presents that year. Her cause of death was natural causes due to complications from old age.

Until this past year when her age caught up with her and she started to lose weight, Winnie was always a "healthy" girl. She was known as our pig most likely to roll herself on her back in her mud hole and not be able to get herself back out. Mikey has gone into the mud to help her roll herself back over and get her up more times than I can count. 🤣 She always loved me when I had good treats, but she loved Mikey all the time. He was her knight in shining armor who was always at her beckon call when she got herself in trouble. Say an extra prayer for him today because his heart is heavy with her loss. Georgia needs prayers as well. They've always been a bonded pair and side by side, and she's not taking the loss of her mother well at all.
