Kash’s first snow fall!
Kash is a yearling who came to the rescue in August from South Carolina! This is his first holidays and winter ever! Friday he experienced snow for the first time and was very intrigued!
When a horse see snow for the first time, they often stop and look at it curiously. They might sniff the air or gently step into it, unsure of what to make of it. Some horses are cautious, while others are more playful, prancing around or even kicking at the snow with their hooves. It’s a moment of discovery, as they explore the new, cold ground beneath their feet!

Today marks the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year, as the Earth leans farthest from the sun. It’s also the coldest day of winter here so far in southern Pennsylvania with temps dropping to low teens 🥶

Our team has been hard at work making sure the residents stay warm, safe, and well-fed.
That means taking extra measures to ensure everyone’s comfort—sorting horses who prefer to be outside to fields with run-in shelters, or bringing them into our cozy barn with 20 warm stalls and tucking them into their blanket pajamas like Alice & Kasey in the photos 🥰 (Love them so much)

When a cold snap like this happens, we need all hands on deck:
🐴 prepping boredom buster toys for their stalls to keep them entertained (thank you for gifting them from our wishlist)
🐴 stuffing countless hay bags
🐴 filling outdoor hay feeders with large hay bales
🐴 filling water troughs with fresh water
🐴 testing heaters in outdoor waterers
🐴 prepping hoses and connections with anti-freezing devices
🐰adding extra straw bedding for added insulation for Blu bunny and the hens
🐥 installing water heaters for the coops
🐾 prepping the many outdoor kitty condos with extra straw food & water heaters
💧prepping emergency water in case of a power outage

Yes, it’s a lot of work!! Yes we are frozen to the core when it’s done. But for many of the horses and farm animals in our care, warmth, food & fresh water were luxuries they didn’t know before coming here. At Furvivors they’ll never have to face those hardships again, and it makes it all so worth it❤️

As the daylight fades quickly, the magic of our rescue carries on, bringing light and hope to those who need it most. Especially during the holiday season when they all should be safe from the elements & hunger.

Thank you for being here, supporting us through every single season. Without you we could not provide these simple comforts to our beloved Furvivors❤️

Big News at the farm. Remember this sweet girl who appeared out of nowhere one Friday night in October….we are thrilled to announced that HoneyMuffin is adopted!!

After months of waiting, Honey is heading to her forever home! From rescue to happiness, it’s been a journey full of love, patience, and hope. We couldn’t be more excited for this sweet pup to start her new chapter, surrounded by a family ready to give her all the love and care she deserves!! Here’s to endless belly rubs, tail wags, and unforgettable memories ahead! 🐾

❤️ Thank you to Josiah and Leah who opened their hearts and home. They are family members of our team member Sarah. She has been a dedicated Furvivors caretaker volunteer for over a year. We love volunteer family adoptions!!

She has a front leg disability that she was born with or broke and was never treated😞 but that does not stop her with anything!! 🚨🚨EMERGENCY FUNDRAISER. URGENT. 🚨🚨

Around 8 this morning I received a call from my trainer where Dolcetto is currently staying. He informed me that they needed to call the vet to take a look at him. He was showing symptoms of colic, which can plummet downhill in very little time if not addressed.

As I write this, I am on my way home from New Bolton Center who are taking him into surgery.

Things happened so quickly today I’m barely absorbing information. In the simplest of terms, his blood levels were very high and he seems to be impacted in and around his small intestine. Our vet isn’t certain of the severity or outcome until Dolcetto is under.

didn’t already know, he was born with us three years ago. We rescued his pregnant mother from a kp in Oklahoma, and she gave birth two weeks later. I was there when he first hit ground. He’s so, so important to me. A heart horse.

Given that he’s only 3 years old, I think he deserves a chance. I don’t want to give up just yet. I can’t.

As of now, the costs are looking to be in the $10,000-20,000 range. Just reading that over is making my stomach turn. I hate posting fundraisers more than anything, but it’s a difficult necessity with this job. This situation is very urgent and concerning. I’m doing my best to keep it together, but i’m really struggling.
