New Jersey Schnauzer Rescue Network Generally the required donations for our senior and special needs dogs are lower, while the adoption fees for our younger and healthier rescues are higher.

Since its creation, NJSRN has had a single mission: Finding permanent, loving homes for Miniature Schnauzers and Schnauzer mixes throughout the northeastern United States.http://www.njsrn.org/ Adoption donations typically range from $50-$600:

Age 10+ years: $50-$150
Age 8 - 9 years: $150-$250
Age 5 - 7 years: $250-$350
Age 3 - 4 years: $350-$450
Age 1 - 2 years: $400-$550
The adoption fee for al

l puppies is $450-$600. In some cases the puppy may be too young to fix, and there will be an additional $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit, which will be returned upon veterinary documentation of altering. We have a special "Senior for Seniors" program, in which the adoption fee is waived for a senior citizen adopting a senior Schnauzer. Occasional dogs may have slightly higher than average adoption fees, depending on circumstances and our expenses. The adoption donations listed above represent the range: the exact fee will vary depending on the dog and our costs. Please feel free to ask about the specific donation required for a dog of interest. All dogs adopted from NJSRN receive the following:

Veterinary examination;
Spay/neuter;
DA2PPv and Rabies vaccinations;
Treatment for worms and intestinal parasites;
Heartworm test;
Dental cleaning and extractions, if needed;
Urinalysis to detect potential urinary tract infections and bladder stones; and
Bloodwork, if necessary. If the dog has any other medical needs, they also will be addressed. We will have the dog microchipped, if possible, and it will be groomed or shaved down if its coat is very matted. The dog will also be evaluated for temperament and a determination of the type of home that is best suited for its needs. The value for all of these services is more than $450!! Adoption fees are donations to New Jersey Schnauzer Rescue Network, not payment for value received, and are based primarily on the age, health, and temperament of a particular dog and our expenses. Please understand, NJSRN is not a shelter, and we are not subsidized - most shelters receive municipal funding, while NJSRN operates entirely on adoption fees and donations. All of our members are volunteers, and none of us receives a salary or payment of any kind. Every dollar we generate through donations or adoption fees goes toward the care of our dogs - primarily for veterinary expenses, plus a small amount for grooming, board, and occasional shelter fees. Volunteers usually pay the costs for transport, fostering, dog food, phone calls, postage, printing, and adoption screening out of their own pockets.

Don't let her cuteness fool you! Daisy, at 1 year old, is a work in progress. She is doing well with clicker training but still remains extremely reactive to dogs and other stimuli. Daisy needs a very experienced owner who can continue to work with her, but also provide the activity and stimulation that a youngster needs. Her history is a mystery, but we suspect she was allowed to raise herself, with no parameters, no training and not enough human/pet contact. In addition to her training, frequent long walks and vigorous playtime, and some busy toys, will help her become the well-adjusted little girl we know she can be.

If you might be interested in Daisy AND are an experienced terrier owner who understands clicker training, please complete an application at https://njsrn.org/adopt/adoption/. If you have questions, please contact Dorian at [email protected]

** Thanks everyone for your response. We are so happy to report that Charlie's owner will be keeping him. For those that were questioning why Charlie was coming into rescue, please remember that people go through hard times. As a rescue, we are grateful that people call us, instead of taking their dog to a shelter. It shows their love and wanting to do the very best for their dog. **

We are in need of a foster home for Charlie. He has to be out of his current home ASAP.

This little cutie is just under a year old, 13 lbs, not yet neutered and up to date on his vaccines. He's a happy-go-lucky pup who loves everyone. Due to sudden changes in his living situation, we need to move him into rescue this week. He loves to play with other dogs and is very affectionate toward his people too. Once he's neutered, he'll also need a forever home.

If you can foster, please contact Dorian at [email protected]

Thanks!

*** Adoption Pending - Thanks everyone for your interest ***

Meet Chino!
Chino is a 4-year-old, Schnauzer/Australian Shepherd mix (according to his microchip information). He looks big in the pictures because he’s leggy and his furnishings haven’t grown in, but he is only 18.5 lbs. He was found as a stray, wandering the streets and was, understandably, scared out of his mind in the shelter. Chino is the absolutely sweetest dog you’ll ever meet. He just wants to give love and go for walks – plain and simple, that’s it.

We are looking for a home that LOVES to take walks and wants to laugh at the antics of a sweet, goofy pup. He does try to scoot out the door, so no small children but he would enjoy older kids. He is very frightened of being crated – so much so, that he broke his canine in the shelter from chewing on the metal cage. He had a dental today to remove that tooth (the nerve was exposed) and clean up his other teeth. He’s a total joy in the house – no accidents and just waits patiently for his foster Mom to return home. He would do well with another dog or without one. Also, he does not shed.

Please email Deb at [email protected] with any questions and if interested, complete an Adoption Application at: https://njsrn.org/adopt/adoption/

Linus’s champion is Kelly. If you meet the requirements for his permanent home and have questions that are not answered on our website after you have submitted an adoption application, please contact her at [email protected].

Linus is a handsome, active 7-year-old. He is house and crate-trained and loves running and playing in a fenced yard. He was occasionally leash-walked, but he’s strong and pulls quite a bit, so he needs someone strong enough to control him. Linus is quite agile and can easily jump into an SUV - that's a good thing, because he DOES NOT like being picked up! He is good with other dogs, but not with cats or kids.

Linus ended up with NJSRN because his elderly owners, who are getting ready to move into assisted living, could no longer care for him. He has been well-loved but was never trained and ended up ruling the house. Like many Schnauzers, Linus is smart, but he never learned boundaries. His ideal home will need to set boundaries and learn how to properly motivate him to get his bossiness under control.

Linus appears to prefer women over men and, though he’s an active dog, would do best in a quiet home with a fenced yard.

Prior to placement, all dogs are spayed/neutered, brought up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, dewormed, and microchipped. Dogs also receive a dental cleaning, if needed, and are bathed/groomed before adoption.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, you must first complete our adoption application, which is available on our website at www.njsrn.org (click on the Adopt tab). Please be sure to include the dog’s name in the questions/comments section of the application. Answers to questions about NJSRN, our process for matching dogs to their permanent homes, and our guidelines for adoption donations can also be found on our website. Sorry, no shipping, but NJSRN can help with local area transport throughout most of the northeast and mid-Atlantic regions. If you have questions that are not answered on our website after you have submitted an adoption application, please contact the NJSRN champion listed above.

NJSRN covers NJ, PA, NY, CT, MD, DE, and surrounding states, and we will help any Miniature Schnauzer in need, regardless of age or health status. We are all volunteers and NJSRN always needs foster homes, transport assistance, and donations. If you would like to contribute to our rescue program, you can easily make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal at www.njsrn.org. Or, if you prefer, you can mail a check (made payable to NJSRN) to: New Jersey Schnauzer Rescue Network Inc., PO Box 36, Fanwood, NJ 07023. Thank you!

** Reposting this amazing little lady! **

Meet Filly!
You know that kind of love that sticks with you? That soft, sweet presence that follows you from room to room, ready to curl up by your feet or sneak a kiss when you're least expecting it?
That's Filly - a 10 years young, 17 lbs, jet black with soulful eyes Schnauzer mix.
This gentle, affectionate miniature schnauzer mix is a survivor with a heart of gold. Found as an unclaimed stray and mistaken for pregnant (she wasn’t … just healing), Filly has since bounced back from a successful mastectomy and is soaking up every bit of safety and love her foster home offers.
But now? She’s ready for her forever lap.
What Makes Filly Special:
This snuggle pro’s favorite activity is being near you. On the couch, in your bed, or just quietly observing your every move. She bonds hard with her person/people and wants to be your little shadow. She’s a polite lady: housebroken (though may need a refresher at first), doesn’t bark much, and rides well in the car. Filly has low-maintenance energy, loves walks, soft beds, and calm days.
Her Ideal Home:
Filly would thrive in a calm, dog/cat-free home with someone who either works from home or can take her along during the day. She gets along with other dogs on walks but prefers to rule the roost at home. While she’s not destructive and doesn’t bark excessively, she can be territorial with other dogs in the household and will guard food if there’s competition nearby—another reason she needs to be your one and only. A fenced yard would be a bonus, but a cozy apartment with the right human? Perfect as well.
Quirks We Adore:
• Will melt you with her big, sad puppy eyes
• Snoozes like a queen in your bed or her own
• Likes to nibble your hair (adorable, if you ask us)
• Curious about your snacks (and yes, she’ll beg a little)
Filly may be 10, but she’s got a lifetime of love to give. Her floppy ears, tender eyes, and quiet loyalty will win over anyone lucky enough to call her theirs.
If interested in Filly, please complete an adoption application at: https://njsrn.org/adopt/adoption/

FRIENDS AND FOLLOWERS OF NEW JERSEY SCHNAUZER RESCUE NETWORK (NJSRN)

The BAD news: Sometime around Thursday, 8/18/25, the NJSRN page was hijacked! The scammers were posting non-existent dogs (Rex, a Frenchie and Luna) and requesting people send deposits. All of the NJSRN FB admins were locked out and we had no control over our FB page. If you sent money, please contact your financial institution. If you sent money or even shared or commented on those dogs posts, we also suggest you reset your passwords.

The GOOD news: We have regained control of our FB page and the scam posts have been removed. Please remember... NJSRN NEVER, repeat NEVER, asks for deposits on our adoptable dogs. Adoption donations are made at the time of the adoption, not before.

If you’re interested in adopting or need to surrender a dog, please visit our website – www.njsrn.org. If you have questions, please contact us at [email protected].

Thank you!

Great news! A wonderful home has been found for Spencer. Thank you to everyone that reached out about him!

Spencer wants to spend his 5th birthday eating doggy cake and ice cream with his new family! Are you the right home that can make his birthday wish come true?

Spencer’s ideal roommates are adult humans and cats. Yup, this boy likes felines! A single-family house with a fenced yard is required. He is happiest sitting on the couch (preferably in a lap) with his humans. His second favorite place is sleeping in bed with his people. The ideal daytime situation is an owner that works from home and likes sharing the office with their Schnauzer Associate (Spencer). Or a younger retired homebody. We think you get it… Spencer wants to be with his people! He’s a little anxious (like many covid puppies) and barky when he’s home alone; but manageable.

People always ask, so we want you to know he checks all the boxes for being crate trained, house trained, sits at the door when he needs to go out, rides well in the car, does stairs, and wants to be with his people (we already covered that!). He does pull when walked on his collar and leash, but in all fairness to Spencer, he never went to school. He thinks walks (especially rail trails and walks in town) and playing in the yard with his people are great activities. Spencer needs adults that will be with him, love him and keep him active.

Spencer is a cute black, slim and trim purebred boy weighing in at about 25 lbs, with a docked tail, uncropped ears, neutered, and microchipped. His short haircut is perfect for hiking.

We want Spencer’s move to his new home to be successful! So please do not apply for him if you have children and/or young teens or visiting kids; they should not be part of his future. Nor apply if you have or plan to have more than one dog; he likes some other dogs, but it’s hit or miss.

Complete our adoption application that is available at this link http://www.njsrn.org/adopt/ and be certain to mention in the Questions/Comments section at the bottom of the application that you are applying for Spencer.
